There's two options, either delete Akali or let CertainlyT rework every single champ in the game

Cause the way i see it champs like Akali are so broken and busted but at the same time i can see the alure of playing her.

It's like playing vs bots when you play her or most CertainlyT champions, his designs are great, but not for a multiplayer game, or at least not with a multiplayer game where ALL of the other champions have 3x less shit in their kits and a clear weakness that you can exploit.

It's amazing how overloaded some kits are and its amazing that people think its okay, they just accept it as a part of the game but don't realize that there's literally no reason for some things to be in the game except for the fact that some designer wanted it in there so it could be cool or something.

I mean is there a reason that Akali's shuriken also makes her roll back while allowing you to then dash forward and is there a reason why it allows you to dash across the map?

Just think about it, if the ability didnt roll you backwards when she was reworked nobody would say hey she's weak, she needs her shuriken to roll her backwards, if her range was 1200 or something people would assume its normal.

But no she just randomly gets a shitload of things for NO reason. True stealth? Okay you got it 2 Dashes on the same ability that also deals damage, okay. Healing and sustain on AN ASSASSIN? OK BUD HERE YOU GO.

Now to solidify my point further, lets look at a normal champ with no crazy shit on her kit that was as far as i know never hated for being unfair and op, Jinx.

Now imagine if when she was released she had this things in her kit.

Passive- the same as before but getting kills makes jinx more and more maniacal giving her a bonus of 8% AS per champion killed permanently, up to 40%

Q - same as before but rockets don't cost any mana

W - same as before but can crit (like it was in PBE one patch)

E - Traps aren't immobile, but act as Maokai's saplings and chase the nearest enemy rooting him

R - same as before but deals true damage to those below 20%

Now honestly just imagine this version of jinx in the game, if it was released this way you'd probably be completely okay with it, and RIOT could lower the numbers of her base AS, W damage or things like that so it wasnt OP per say, so its safe to say she has a lot of things in her kit for no real reason.

The thing is, if this version of Jinx was live, there surely would be times where you'd die to her ult where you wouldn't before, you'd die or she'd escape cause her E is now a dash plus the trap chases you, you would probably be pissed that she can spam her 650 range rockets all day but you'd learn to live with it and hope that her W doesn't crit when it hits you, but when it does you'd probably die when you wouldn't before.

This is the same thing with Akali (and a lot of other champs like Kai Sa,Yas,Zoe) they have so many things in their kits that people think are "normal" just cause RIOT released it that way and cause its already in the game, but its not damn okay .

You either make everyone OP as fuck with overloaded kits and turn this summoner rift into an Anime or you don't make champs that can literally kill NORMAL IMMOBILE NON-BULLSHIT champs like they are minions.

I think it's this simple: If a champion barely has a 40% win rate and yet still has a 50+% ban rate, you probably fucked up. The champ is simply NOT FUN to play against.

GigglesO13 votes

Thats the thing with the game. I'm not even really sure I care about balance anymore. I want the game to be fun.

Things that aren't fun. Dying instantly.

Done257 votes

I can't answer for the rest of it, but the reason her shuriken rolls her backwards is to get her out of range so she can proc her passive.

HàrrowR6 votes

Sure, but if she didn't have it, would it make much of a difference, she would just have to walk two steps back to do the same, but this just makes it easy for her while giving her extra mobility.

This is my point exactly, people don't realize that a lot of things in the game are there not because there's a master plan behind it all and every spell is carefully thought-out so its balanced perfectly but because some designer thought it would literally be cool to have it.

Imagine this, if Jax's E slowed in an area around it before procing the stun, people would think its completely normal if it was there from the start, they would use the same argument, well you need it to set up the stun. This is the same logic

The circle is big. It'd make a massive difference if she didn't have the back flip.

This. It would significantly slow down her combo. She's already low win rate. She'd drop even harder without the back flip.

LoL has been transitioning for a while, into a state where CT's champions/reworks are the standard of balance. There are a few outliers who don't need to be touched because their kit will always work, like Jax for example. But I assume CT is going to be involved in everysingle rework, since his overloaded kits have been the standard for balance pretty much ever since Yasuo.

Akali sucks everywhere below master lol

saltran2 votes

Agree, but she has a terrible design if no matter the winrate she has on soloQ she's strong for pro play.

IP Masquerena1 votes

I didn't hear the same cries about Azir when he was strong.

All we do hear tho is "buff Azir, fuck high elo play, yolo que matters and he's trash there" while for Akali it's the opposite "nerf Akali, fuck yolo que, high elo matters and she OP there" while these two are kinda in the same boat, and I like it as it is.

saltran1 votes

Well if you ask me Azir has been the most overtuned champ they have released in the last 5 years, I seriously think that if rioters deserved to be fired by their work the one that gave greenlight to Azir should be fired.

Azir kit is a mistake, Kalista kit is a mistake, Ryze kit too and I have to be coherent and say that Akali aswell.

And please keep in mind that Akali it's not a problem on low elo, both her winrate and banrate goes up the higher you go on the ladder, she's more banned on Masters than on Silver exactly because they know that their oponents may know how to play her.

IP Masquerena1 votes

Sorry, but you completely missed the point by stating the point.

People cry about Akali because she's "too strong in high elos and when mastered", and I pointed out Azir, who's a champion that noone cries he's too good in high elos/when mastered and that (quote from the boards) "he should be buffed to be playable by the general playerbase, and if he's OP, let the high elo deal with that or permaban him".

Notice the hypocrisy?

saltran1 votes

Probably because Azir was released a long time ago and he got the huge nerfs he needed long time ago aswell, he isn't in the spotlight for that

IP Masquerena1 votes

Um...that's not it?

Azir is still famous for how dominant he is at higher elos when he's "decent" at lower elos, heck, he has a 50% wr at worlds with a KDA of 5, so he still is picked by pros even now, yet people want him buffed so he can be "strong" at lower elos as well.

With Akali it's the opposite, they want her nerfed because she's strong at higher elos.

Basically, they want balanced to be done biased by what the boards thing is strong/weak, they move the goalpost wherever their needs are and so on.

You say that she's a terrible design because she'll always be good in high elo, but maybe that shows she's a good design? I mean, I may be comparing the situation to Dota's Templar Assassin, but, that gal is terrible in low elos and barely decent in higher ones, but for those who can play her well, her mains, she's still a viable pick even in pro play, a pocket pick, but actually viable that's good regardless of the meta, under that condition, you can play her.

This game has millions of players, so saying something is a bad design when it favors some players that spend time more than others is stupid. It's like saying A-Sol and Ivern are bad designs because only their mains play them.

I believe people get very frustrated when they can't actually punish an opponent's mistakes rather than him just having a lot of mobility or just pure damage, of course those things frustrate people as well, for example facing a zed mid that deals 50% of your hp in one combo with just a dirk, but i think people get pissed more when you introduce mechanics that make it impossible to trade with someone or blow him up.

That's why people are pissed about Yasuos wall, cause it will just tilt you out of existance to see him have 150 hp and throwing your ult at him just to have him press W and troll you.

The same goes for Akali, you want to trade with her, you want to gank her or you just want to blow her up and she throws her shroud and then dashes out, of course the same goes for Azir, or people being pissed about Vayne's stealth, hell the boards went crazy a couple of days ago when she got buffed on the PBE lowering her Q cooldong to 1sec during her ult, people weren't pissed cause she'll have more damage, they are pissed cause she'll be killing you while you have 1 second to retaliate.

IP Masquerena1 votes

A lot of favoritism is played in that aspect tho.

If you call Zed safe in the early stages of the game, which he is, unless he fucks up badly, they will just cry how he's bad, how he can't do what you say he can because XYZ. I said that he can use his WEQ combo as waveclear to break a freeze, and they go "then why don't you punish", tell them that a freeze has his wave have 2-3 more creeps than yours, so if I try to punish that, I get too much damage from his creeps while he takes none from mine, they tell me I'm noob, but forget that waves come every 30 sec, so even if he has his W on cooldown, when the next wave is back, he'll have it again, and due to the broken freeze, you can't freeze again the next wave, allowing him to farm the next one more safely.

If you tell them that Shaco is a bit too strong, they tell you that "he's weak, his winrate is ONLY 53% in Diamond".

Noone complains about Galio, who currently is one of the most OP champs, and you have less agency against him than vs Akali or Yasuo.

The main thing is: highelos play to win, so they want to remove as many things they can't control as possible, Akali and Zed are some, both have 30%+ ban rate in Diamond (yet somehow Zed's weak but Akali is OP according to the boards, yes he can be weak at super high elo, but news flash, almost every assassin outside of a few are trash) while in lower elos "they just feel strong" because they are flashy. I did try to play some Yasuo myself, see how he is and had opponents throw their whole kit in my Windwall even tho they had time to not throw it, they just called it OP instead of adapting.

Hell yeah, rework all. Ct reworking Wukong making him a real champ [sg-lux]

D357R0Y3R4 votes

Except that you realize afterwards that every designers are like CT

Riotjag, Endlesspillow, Solcrushed, squad5

every single Rioter likes nowdays to create a "big plays" champion that happens to be so overloaded, the only reason CT gets so much shit is because unlike them he used to come on the boards/old forum to talk with people and therefore he became infamous

Reksee8 votes

I don't think RabidLlama (or however you spell it) has made any overloaded champions. Unless you count Bard as overloaded. While many designers are like CertainlyT his designs are very much overloaded.

Galio is ten times worse than any CT champions

CT champions did not get 3 mini reworks dedicated to make them less toxic in high elo/pro play

except kalista

Reksee2 votes

I am not saying that other champs like Galio or Ryze (I assume that's who you're refering to) are ok, I am saying though that CertainlyT has made some overloaded champions.

DoktorKaiser2 votes

Galio is not overloaded, he is just poorly designed just like Ryze or Kalista, none of those champs are nearly as overloaded as CT champs, they just have 1-2 broken abilities that make them broken (mostly in pro play) and they are failed designs, especially Galio who was a unique champion with unique visuals and theme is now a generic tank abomination (with terrible visuals and VO if I might add).

You can be sure that the game will never turn for the better again. Depending on when you started playing, the game will most likely more or less shit then for others.

Meany Sting2 votes

Yes alkali is overloaded, but honestly, at this point even in diamond and platinum games she is not such a great problem. A lot of champs counter her and she is best used as a counter pick into more passive laners who can't punish her with an aoe harass.

The main problem with her though? The safety she offers. Unless alkali misplays she can easily avoid ganks in mid, if enemy picks immobile melee top she can poke and farm for free with no resource cost.

In general after last batch of changes, she has counter play up until the point where she is ahead or at 2+items. Which for an assassin is rather late comparing it to other assassins like talons or zed or LB.

Her stupid strength is only the sustain part. Poking her out of lane is harder then it should be, and all in on her is hard to do with shroud of hers.

All in all, she needs changes. Hell, remove sustain on her increase her base stats so she can actually take a hit without exploding in early bursts and if she wants heals she would need to actually finish gunblade.

Most of certainly ts champs arent nll issues though?

Or...

You could learn to play. Hm? :)

HàrrowR1 votes

Good argument, let's just end all discussion about anything being broken,op or just unfun to play with/against with You could learn how to play. :)

Also there's a difference between knowing how to play, and winning, which i do know better than you since im playing the game for 8 years now and was diamond 1 at one point, and actually having fun with the game and not being tilted by clearly broken and overloaded mechanics and kits on champions.

I never got pissed that Vel Koz killed me or that i lost a game to a fed Vel Koz cause at least i know that there's a better counterplay than to 1v5 him

still not as bad as yasuo imo

Just because Akali gets more work done than Alistar doesn't mean she's a viable champion. Some champions are reworked to make them useless. Akali is one of them. People that get on the hate train for bad champions like this and Alistar are the reason the boards can't be taken seriously when real issues come up like Sejuani still hasn't been reverted even though she's been unplayable since her rework.

Don't get me wrong, if you want to complain about Akali, go ahead and complain. But at least complain about the fact that she's too weak and doesn't do her job properly because that's the truth, not the regurgitated nonsense you people keep posting.
