People shouldn't be allowed to buy Runes with RP

Cloud273··4 votes·1,399 views

If you have money, you have an edge over your opponent. I need runes so I can play this champ properly. I'll just buy $100 worth of RP and problem solved. Riot, if you truly care about the competitive aspect of this game, don't let pepole buy runes with RP. Make them grind the IP like the rest of us.

What the heck?

You can't buy runes with RP

SMH...

you cannot buy runes with RP, it is IP only- Riot wants their game to be free to play in all aspects

NeonVolt1 votes

In all aspects? How about the skins lol

Sukishoo4 votes

Skins are a cosmetic that change nothing gameplay wise.

NeonVolt1 votes

Really? last time I checked they change the way you look in the game. Therefore it changes your game play experience. It changes projectiles...if you're saying that doesn't throw people off sometimes, then you're just being dishonest. Sometimes when you expect sivir to look one way and she doesn't you might think she is someone else. That changes the game play for people you play against. No? Someone once thought my battlecast skarner skin was battlecast cho'gath.

Sukishoo3 votes

It changes the visual experience yes, but that's not the gameplay of how the champion works. They are still the same champion, same abilities, same strengths, ect.

NeonVolt1 votes

True. but my point still stands that it does to some extent change the experience. Otherwise why buy the skin?

Truthteller1 votes

I think you're lost, skins does not change a single factor in gameplay. At some point it does make the user feel good about her/himself but in the end it still depends on how well the person can play that champion. It's just like when you compare black people with white people, the only difference between them is skin color. It's no big deal once you realize that.

NeonVolt1 votes

I don't think I am. I've yet to have anything convince me otherwise. Here's my main point maybe you're missing it: "you cannot buy runes with RP, it is IP only- Riot wants their game to be free to play in all aspects" -Stacona My point was exactly this: Skins are not purchasable with IP, therefore not a free aspect of the game. Would you disagree that the skins are an aspect of the game? Do you think they aren't? Is this more clear for you now?

Truthteller1 votes

BTW, I've seen pulsefire ezreals and eternum nocturnes get destroyed by skinless champs. You can't just bluntly say skins have an impact on the game without factoring in the skill of the player.

NeonVolt1 votes

I never even said that...if you're replying to sukishoo, I'm sorry. My mistake, I've just been replying to a lot of things. Sorry

wolfax5 votes

If you're getting confused because of skins then I don't have high hopes for you in the game already.

NeonVolt1 votes

Point? People make mistakes mate. Shit happens. No big deal, I'm not going to quit because I forgot something. Or I didn't know something once. I didn't know a lot of things at some point...but I learn by doing. I never said I was going to be the next plat player at all, now did I?

wolfax5 votes

Little hostile much? Did I strike a nerve? I didn't say you should quit the game, but I have never seen or heard of a player getting legitimately confused by a skin to the point it costs them the game or a death. (Barring Steel Legion Lux which is/was banned in some tournaments).

NeonVolt1 votes

Why do you feel the need to insult me? It's not a game changer, I never said that either. You also didn't really make any good arguments with your comment, so I wonder why you even bothered to write it. Don't think, don't speak. I'm not going to insult you, but based on your last comments I don't need to assume anything. Not trying to be mean or anything. However, you did try to make an argument in your second comment...Still pointless. You still think the same thing you thought before. It is just my "opinion" or belief(also a fact)...that skins do in indeed change the game play. However small or minute.

Stacona1 votes

Skins are entirely cosmetic , do not affect gameplay in any way, shape or form - while IP only on Runes ensures equal playing ground for everyone the one thing from shop that you must pay with Influence Points a system used and set up reflecting currency based on game time-- plus they just made Tier 1 runes practically free and Tier 2 runes dirt cheap so there is even less resources spent to obtain Runes while Tier 3 Runes you only need 2 rune pages one for ap and one for ad to be sufficient- more complex rune pages comes from experience of game time which is what the IP system revolves around--- Riot said up a good system that requires mastery of the game and for players to be good to get more, and the way they make money is purely cosmetic so does not interfere with the game in a negative fashion

NeonVolt1 votes

I agree with that, but would you as a gamer... Be against it if they were purchasable with IP? I mean, I respect Riot's choice to make it...RP only...but sometimes I just don't have enough money to spare on a extravagance like this. I have lots of skins, and I buy things when I have a bit of extra money...because I simply enjoy the cosmetics...but I wouldn't hold it against a person if they got it with IP instead. Like my skin wouldn't be devalued if it were purchased with IP...if anything I'd respect that person more because they worked hard for their skin. I don't know. That's just the way I see it.

Stacona1 votes

Riot needs to make money and they do that through champion skins - they advertise them through various means to try to get you to buy their skins so that they make money - IP is a terrible marketing plan as a company - their 100% free to play in every way, shape, and form allowed them to grow as big as they did in such a small amount of time and continue to grow - Riot and League of Legends has become biggest in the world and most successful entire through a free-to-play game that everyone can get into and actually can play (really good focus point is allow even the League of Legends Toaster to play league, have your toast and play your game too!)

You buy the IP boost (with RP). Why is this so hard to understand?

Peel Your ADC1 votes

Maybe because it wasn't in the original post.

And if you play, you get rewarded. Extra boosts shouldn't be bought with IP or else that'd be dumb.

Put 2 and 2 together and you'll figure it out.

They get extra IP for playing the game. Them purchasing an IP boost does nothing to affect you. There isn't some set amount of IP that can be awarded that they're limiting by taking more. Nor are they being rewarded without working for it a little. I've put 2 and 2 together and you're still wrong.

It gives them an advantage, because they're earning IP faster than everyone else. Sorry you're stupid and wrong.

An IP boost isn't buying Runes. You're implying that we can directly purchase runes with Riot Points, when you can only use Influence Points to unlock them. IP itself is a free aspect of the game, earned from every match, a boost is just a luxury that increases the amount you normally have.

wolfax1 votes

An IP-boost still requires that you play games to earn the runes. It just lets you get them slightly faster, although it's the worst use for your RP ever. You are still easily able to purchase runes by playing games normally. I have never bought an IP boost and I have pretty much every rune I could need for any class.

I think he's referring to how people can use RP to buy IP boosts, which effectively almost doubles your IP gain.

Anomander3 votes

As long as I can buy them with ip I have no problem with people being able to buy them with rp. After all they can buy champions and additional rune pages. Whats so bad about being able to buy them with rp? You can still earn them with IP. This doesn't change the Competitive sport at all.

Truthteller1 votes

You can't buy runes with RP.

Anomander1 votes

I know..... I was saying I didn't have a problem if you could.

NeonVolt1 votes

I see a problem with this already, for example...you make an account...get to level 30...someone steals your account...your account gets banned...all that work was for nothing. You make another account...you want it to be a bit easier...you dish out 100 bucks and you're back on track. That would make it a lot harder for people to make secondary accounts...why would someone want to grind over and over again? Although, if they did stop making it RP...you wouldn't have as many smurfs...and you wouldn't have as many banned players returning. But, at the same time..less people would be online/ playing...therefore riot would lose money and is...therefore...not a very good business choice. Also, if people quit because you can buy RP(for rune pages)...I see your point...that makes it pay to win...that discourages a lot of people...I see the good more than the bad...but also their viewpoint is making money. That is apparent already.

CheckMyDoubles2 votes

A business wants to make money? Say it isn't so. How dare they.

What are you rambling about anyway? Everything about this game can be achieved for FREE, with the exception of purely cosmetic items. People call you out on how wrong you are about spending RP for runes, and you start babbling about skins being an advantage because it gives you a confidence boost and makes the models confusing? You can't be serious.

Should Riot just become a charity and not charge for anything? It's amazing how much they give away at no cost in this game compared to other F2P games. Sometimes I wish it did cost more to remove clowns like yourself.

NeonVolt1 votes

What? I never said they couldn't get everything besides skins, I thought that was common knowledge by now. I never said skins were an advantage either...I mean maybe to some extent? But, I still think it would be cool to be able to buy skins with IP, just throwing that out there. Mainly because it confuses some people...which I've seen more than once, and I'll admit I was confused a few times also. Might have been drunk. I'm not sure. I'm sorry you feel the need to call me a clown. It's not like I'm personally attacking you or anything. I also wish that my money...went towards things like server maintenance...and making the game more balanced...you know things that effect the game play...either way it is what it is...I don't have a problem with them making money off of it. They are a business. Congratulations on pointing that out. They're also game creators. They also sometimes listen to concerns of their gamers. Which I appreciate when they do. When they upset me, I have the right to rant about it. This is the best place to do it. If anything, I'm tired of the shining beacons in this community like you. People like you make the game, just so much better to play. So much more fun. I'm sick of trolls and the like. I'm sick of the negative shit I hear every time I play this game. I'm sick of it all. It's digusting what kind of people this game's community is filled with. Absolutely abhorrent. I'm glad they're trying to get rid of the really bad ones. Whether you intended to insult me or not, you still called me a clown. Which, I'd probably report you for. I'd rather not play league with someone like you, and apparently the feeling is mutual. Cool.
