Huge nerf to tanks. Lets change the only tree that benefits tanks to suit it more for adc's

iTaLenTZ··126 votes·7,177 views

"Resolve’s multiplicative scaling for tanks is simply too high across the board. We’re reducing the effectiveness of the class at the mastery level while adding flat-health options for squishies who actually want some defense, even if they’re not stacking it."

**Veteran's Scars **

HEALTH BONUS: +4% total health ⇒ +45 health

What a joke! Reolve Tree is meant for tanks, not squishies. They already have 2 trees that suit them better than tanks. 45 HP is the equivalent of 4% bonus HP at 1125 HP. Lategame with 4000 HP you lose 160-45=115 HP, including the nerf to Deadman's Plate you lose an extra 100 HP.

**Unyielding **

BONUS ARMOR AND MAGIC RESIST: 6% ⇒ 5%

They also lose 1% bonus armor+mr

Bond of Stone

DAMAGE REDUCTION WHILE ALONE: 2% ⇒ 3%

DAMAGE REDUCTION WITH AN ALLY: 8% ⇒ 6%

ALLY BLOCK TURNS OFF AT: 15% health ⇒ 5% health

And lose 2% damage reduction in teamfights or when getting help from the jungler in lane.

**TL;DR: **I can live with the change to Bond of Stone because 8% damage reduction was too strong but I can't live with the multiple nerfs tanks received this patch. Losing at least 215 HP, 1% bonus armor/mr and 2% damage reduction is too much for a class that was already getting screwed over bij adc's. At least you could have the 2 masteries coexist. Flat HP for squishies and scaling HP for tanks.

Pretty much this. The ONE game I wasn't nearly killing the entire enemy team alone as Rammus was when FINALLY Graves built item 3036. Actually as soon as I finish item 3031 and item 3085 I go straight for item 3153 or a item 3035 item. Tanks didn't need nerfs, people just needed to start building against them.

Transgressor7 votes

Don't expect anyone to buy them for as long as people like Qtpie say in their streams that those items are "utter garbage".

What does this have to do with anything? Well those streamers have 15k viewers each, their influence is enormous.

A salute to another tank player forced to buy an anti-tank item because no one else would.

Tanks have to sacrifice so much god damn it! At least help us help you!

Gregor Gysi2 votes

Exactly. Last Whisper nerf, item 3033 sucks, item 3153 nerf, item 3046 sucked aswell (5.23) and only item 3036 was ok. No surprise that tanks were completely dominating while assassins/fighters were extremely lacking.

People are still buying BORK all the time, holy. They really need to adjust to the patches..

Ariel the Cruel1 votes

I build item 3812 and item 3046 on Braum when I can. 24% damage reduction, +3% from bond of stone, +40% from wall, +Resist steroid on W. Yes please.

Funny build (but pls don't do this in ranked). You might want to build item 3143 for reduced crit dmg..

tanks dont even use 18 resolve lol. nobody uses 18 resolve, it fucking sucks. go 18/0/12 or 0/18/12 every game on everything.

iTaLenTZ13 votes

Then if it sucks why nerf it even more?

AyRe CoNteMpT1 votes

it doesnt really matter since no masery of the resolve tree that has been changed was usefull in the first place except explorer and that has been buffed.

well. veteran scars was more useful than its now. and 6% bonus armor and magic resist was better than 2hp5. i dont know why this is a thing at all.

"oh golly gee. 20 seconds have passed. ive healed 8 health". - no one

I use 18 in resolve. It works really well.

AyRe CoNteMpT2 votes

good for you. imagine you had something that works even better.

Ralanr20 votes

The ferocity tree is boring as fuck and the cunning tree doesn't fit my playstyle.

AyRe CoNteMpT3 votes

boring this, boring that. all masteries are boring and redundant but ferocity and since 5.24 cunning aswell are simply better. like, there is no point in arguing about this. its simply better. numbers are higher, can be applied easier, more frequently etc etc. 12 resolve gives you everything you could ever want.

Ralanr20 votes

Does the term playstyle mean nothing to you?

AyRe CoNteMpT2 votes

it means you play in a way that favors 18 resolve over 18 anything else but there is no such playstyle so you are wasting potential power. i mean, its up to you but im just sharing my valuable insight.

ChewbaccasRear10 votes

How is going 18 Resolve no a better choice if you plan to become the team tank? ]

-Support/Damage-Sponge tank goes Bond of Ages, it helps you do what you want to do and soak up the damage for those around you (well just one person but that one person is enough)

-any form of CC/Damage Tank goes Grasp of the Undying, want to stay fighting more use this one since not only will you most likely survive the 4 seconds necessary to activate it but since it heals off your max health its great for tanks (such as WW, Naut, Malph, etc etc.)

But here is the thing, this requires your play-style to be "going to go in soak up damage and survive as long as possible" instead of "i want to beat the crap out of some squishes" where either Ferocity or Cunning would work way better, with the example you used earlier about Darius and DeathFire Touch (actually I'd prefer ThungerLord's Decree for more based AD and you can get the CD for the extra spins)

Basically it really is all about play style and no one way is the right way, they made this whole thing to try to suit everyone's different style (no saying they did a good or bad job just saying they tried)

So please don't try to shit on anyone else's viewpoints just because you're too stubborn to put yourself in others shoes.

p.s. it doesn't matter if you're insight if valuable or not, start acting like a jerk and there's no point in holding a conversation, let alone a debate, with you.

Grasp of undying is broken in lane :D

"Valuable insight" "Flaming people for choosing 'wrong'" If you haven't noticed, you sound completely ridiculous and aggressive. Not to mention your name looks annoying. Even if your advice is solid, which it really isn't, you need to learn how to give our opinions in a positive way.

AyRe CoNteMpT3 votes

no i dont lol. i just share my view and if you are like "hmm this guy is an asshole but he probably knows his stuff" then you can benefit from it and become a better player or you can leave it be.

Ralanr14 votes

Rarely people ever listen to an asshole and you haven't showcased much evidence to support your point.

I don't know how you know your stuff when you label Fiora as a juggernaut.

AyRe CoNteMpT1 votes

well if you listen or not, it doesnt increase MY winrate so it really doesnt super mega bother me if you dont^^

Ralanr13 votes

Beyond you, who the fuck really gives a shit?

It looks like you mostly main AA based champions, so focusing on offense trees makes sense as those trees buff that more. But for tanks (primary tanks, not secondary) like Sion Amumu Braum Malphite Zac etc benefit more from 18 resolve than 18 ferocity or cunning. Simply because 18 resolve boots their durability and (with Grasp of the undying) allows them to weaponize it.

Each keystone mastery benefits some champions more than others. This means that a resolve mastery is better on one champion than a ferocity mastery.

frigginmurlocs2 votes

Every keystone except for strength of ages, no one uses strength of ages

You're bottom diamond and literally all you play is meta picks. All your mastery pages have 12 points in resolve.

Wat.

wat meta picks? i play these champions since long before you even knew the word meta. and ofcourse, all my mastery pages have 12 resolve because thats best and thats what i said multiple times. whats your point?

Reading his posts brings this mental picture in my head:

A 19year old white dude, who's flimsy and has a very ugly geeky haircut, invading your personal space talking right in front of your face so angrily and pationately he spits. He's making weird hand motions when he's forcing you to accept his point of view, and has ackne packed with facial hair that grows unevenly which draws your attention in a peculiar way.

AyRe CoNteMpT2 votes

"nobody" didnt mean players. ofcourse many players have no idea about the game and use 18 resolve instead of 12 but no champio benefits from that more than from the other trees.

Ralanr34 votes

Most of the juggernauts work better with resolve over ferocity.

AyRe CoNteMpT1 votes

juggernauts are, i think, fiora, mordekaiser, darius, garen and skarner and none of them benefits more from resolve than from other trees except MAYBE darius goes even.

Ralanr33 votes

Fiora isn't a juggernaut. And Fervor is bad on all juggernauts.

AyRe CoNteMpT3 votes

well 5.23 deathfire touch was crazy good on darius because his bleed applied it so it ticked for a long time and it also was insanely good on garen because his spin applied it so that was just wicked strong.

this patch i dont know but since fervor of battle stacks faster for melee champions now, it might be really good on them too. but not sure. maybe thunderlords is crazy good on garen now because it procs from spin too. it doesnt proc from darius bleed so it sucks on him.

Shrek Luigi16 votes

Darius is an enigma, and doesn't really represent the entirety of the Juggernaut pool. His tradeoff of having a very small sphere of influnce around him opens up a lot of offensive power in his kit, so offensive-oriented keystones are more appropriate for him.

Deathfire is probably still the way to go on him. Stacking fervor is unreliable when you need it most, as far as melee Champs go, and the AD scaling on DFT is super nice.

Big Lincoln2 votes

bleed doesnt apply dft, just a heads up

resolve is probably the best tree to invest in

Shrek Luigi1 votes

still applies on his skill-casts, though, and synergizes very well with it since going in for a Thunderlord's Decree combo often isnt possible in lane.

Big Lincoln2 votes

only his Q and R

W is considered an AA modifier and E doesn't do any damage to proc DFT

bond of stone in duo lanes is amazing with a tank support....im not sure you ever really read any of the masteries*[slayer-jinx-unamused]*

Jungle Lux God10 votes

Why the heck am I going to put 18 points into Ferocity on a tank? 18 points into Cunning I can understand if you are a supportive tank and 18 points into Ferocity is fine on a bruiser, but 18/0/12 is basically identical to 6/0/12 on a tank because there are no useful masteries past the first keystone (Feast/Double-Edged Sword) for tanks.

AyRe CoNteMpT1 votes

well a tank doesnt start the game with full build and games dont start with teamfighting all the time so tanks are just normal champions who go to lane like everyone else. you are not a "tank" from the beginning of the game but stronger laning makes you reach a tank status much more easily and safely and since the new "defensive masteries" dont really give any tankyness (last season they were allready really bad too but at least gave some good flat stats and % reduction) you are better off getting damage to scale more easily.

like on mundo you can easily go 18/0/12 and get fervor of battle or DFT (last patch at least, now DFT might suck too hard) and it was strong in lane if used correctly. it simply is a much stronger mastery than anything yyou can get in resolve. man resolve SUCKS except bond of stone in a duo lane. it doesnt make you tanky for shit.

Jungle Lux God13 votes

None of the ferocity keystones compete with Undying Grasp on a tank build. Mundo in particular had over a 60% win rate when he ran 12/0/18 masteries in both top and jungle with Undying Grasp. How can the offensive masteries compete with that?
