What makes Yasuo's early game so strong?

YumaS2Astral··3 votes·1,127 views

That's my only real problem with him, even when I am using a counterpick like Vladimir or Chogath I must take care because Yasuo can still all-in me during the first two or three levels. Then there is also the fact that it is almost impossible to harass Yasuo if you rely on skillshots to do that, not only because of his windwall, but also because of his E and his ability to jump on every minion every few seconds. And if you ever manage to land a skillshot on him, his passive shield will just block most of the damage. And if you try to harass him with autos, you are just asking for Yasuo to jump on you and all-in you. That's why I like to use non-skillshot reliant champions against him, like the aformentioned Vlad and Cho, as well as Malzahar and Fizz.

And on top of all that, Yasuo has no mana, he has no real costs to speak of, so Yasuo sits there, shoving the minion waves, while I can't do that, at least not without burning my entire mana pool depending from the champion I am using.

I don't want to argue whether Yasuo needs nerfs or not, but most champions with good early games have below average late game and vice versa, neither which are the case for Yasuo.

Except that Vlad doesn't counter Yasuo after his rework anymore.

The thing is, Yasuo early isn't that strong. Yes, he can kill you at level 2, but that quite literally requires you to stand there, taking hits like a moron.

As for your choice of champions... Cho can struggle early, but should be fine otherwise. Vlad is flat out countered by any decent Yasuo, hell, I've been purposely picking Yasuo into Vlad, because of how easily you can abuve Vlad. Malzahar, no questions here. Fizz, depends who gets the lead, then it will be a one-sided stomp.

Frankly, I can dumpster him even with champions like Syndra, who issupposedly hard-countered by him.

Or it may be just me playing him or against him non-stop for about a half a year after his release? Dunno.

Can you explain to me how is Yasuo supposed to beat Vlad?

Sure, Vladimir is not a hard counter to Yasuo, but he can hold his own in the lane then outsustain Yasuo. His point-click Q beats Yasuo hard, and with Rylai he can even kite Yasuo as long as he is not between minions.

Also, late game Vlad beats tanky Yasuo (but he can be outdueled by crit Yasuo if the latter has magic resistance).

Again, Vlad is extremely weak to champions who can force trades with him often. Vlads early sustain is pretty much nonexistent. The answer to Vlad is the same as it has always been. Force trades over and over and he cant sustain back up or win the trades.

Champs like Yasuo Riven MonkeyKing have always completely hard countered Vlad

Vladimir can just sit back and use Q either on them if possible, or on minions to sustain himself. He can mantain a safe distance from them and avoid trades.

I've never lost to Wukong as Vlad, I've only lost a few times to Yasuo and that's because I fucked up, as for Riven, she is possible to beat if you play safely, most Rivens are too agressive and you can outplay and tilt them by taking advantage of that.

Most people say that Vlad is countered by Yasuo and Wukong because most people don't know how to play safe early as Vlad, and they don't know their limits. In addition, most people don't stack CDR early on Vlad, which is his best build possible (like Riven, Vlad benefits from CDR stacking)

You honestly have zero clue how Vlad works or how to play against him. Since you seem to be convinced that Vlad is so strong in every matchup, I will personally 1v1 you on him. Add me. I already know you wont though because you're just shitposting on a smurf account, but whatever

MonkeyKing Riven Yasuo dumpster Vlad no matter how many hypotheticals you give. Vlad cant get in range to Q without getting in range of their gap closers. I've mained Wukong Jungle and Top since season 4 and I can say for certain Vlad is the most free lane I get play. At no point in the game can Vlad ever beat me 1 on 1. The lane phase consists of me either killing Vlad over and over again or me freexing the wave in front of my tower and keeping him zoned out of xp range

I'd say Darius is even easier than Vlad ;)

But actually he already admitted it himself, if the Riven player doesn't tilt he won't be able to beat her :p

No, I am using that account because my main account is not NA, OCE, or EU. I am using this because I am forced. Otherwise I would not be able to post on those boards.

If you want to add me on the BR servers, feel free to do that: Yuma Love Astral - I can accept your challenge. I play Vlad since the third season and I have maestry 6 with him. I know how to deal with Yasuo, Wukong, and Riven in lane.

Yasuo hard counters Vlad. This thread seems to be a case of people not knowing how to play their champion

Your problem is your "counterpicks" are actually counterpicked by Yasuo. Yasuo is very strong against Vladimir and Chogath lol

Vistha Kai1 votes

Vlad, yes. I'd argue about Cho, though.

I mean, W into Q into R and Yasuo's dead. His early could be lackluster against Yasuo however.

How are you getting hit as yasuo by chogath...

Vistha Kai2 votes

Because Cho'Gath doesn't get all of his abilities at level 1 and is prone to getting beaten then.

Read the whole goddamn thing, before responding.

You can't dodge Cho's W, and without his E he isn't likely to dodge the Q either.

Make a token attempt at using your brain.

W remians an insta cast cone, and once that hit's, yasuo i silenced and can't dash out of the Q. And Cho's E basically disables yasuos's shield.

nope you're completely wrong bud.

Eedat2 votes

Nope, I'm completely not. Vlad is super weak to champions who can force trades often with him like MonkeyKing Riven and Yasuo. And cho is just so easy to juke with Yasuo then Yasuo just completely outscales him

I don't mid often, but if I know I'm playing into Yas, I play Morgana. Q when he dashes at you, W to pop his shield off (Also allows you to farm with relative safety). E timing can completely counter his ult play. Some champs have the tools to handle him in lane, others don't.

because your "counterpicks" are weak early vlad's rank 1 Q cooldown is double his rank 5 Q cooldown

short answer. yasuo wins all in fights the first couple of levels because of animation cancelling. he artificially increases his attack speed by cancelling his q and auto attack animation with his e. its a large part of winning lane early on with yasuo.

so avoid head on confrontation until you have a few levels, a couple points in your abilities and can trade wih him.

His early strength comes from the fact that his Q has virtually zero cooldown and eventually turns into a CC.

Furthermore Cho has two skill shots, just throwing that out there.

darkestkhan1 votes

1 skillshot and one cone with silence. You can't avoid cone - it is something that cho has to miss on his own. If he hits then q is almost guaranteed to hit, which MAY lead to r... if cho is ap then wqr is enough to kill anyone with less than 2.6K max hp, and if no mr then anyone below 2K with just w+q+luden+aa.

Serevas1 votes

That's only because the skillshot coding on the cone, which is still technically a skill shot, is super out dated and wonky. It has a cast time, but if it would have hit you at its initial casting you get hit, but the opposite is true, if you walk into it during the cast you don't get hit, it's pretty jacked up.

darkestkhan1 votes

I agree - the coding behind cones is really wrong... check for presence of champions in cone should be done AFTER ramp-up animation is finished.

Never had an issue with Yasuo. But then again, I main this guy: Teemo

A spammable attack with no resource use and a periodic long rangish skill shot with cc and good damage. Oh and a shield for added safety.
