How to make everyone happy with Ranked, including Riot and their "goals".
if you think about it, team 5s was still a thing before. If you make that 2+3/5 man queues, it would be a 100% improvement on matchmaking time compared to season 5 and earlier, especially since more people are playing ranked than ever, specifically in groups. Those players would likely seek to continue playing with their friends in ranked if it were to change to 2+3/5. This means Dynamic Queue would not be a failure, even if Solo Queue were reintroduced.
Offer more rewards compared to solo, more people will play. You might say it rewards the 5 man queues more than 2+3, but honestly, it SHOULD reward people for consistently getting 5 people to play with them. However, they should have to create a ranked team to play as 5. The difference vs now is that you have a queue where EVERYONE is interested in repeatedly playing with the same players and looking to improve communication.
Another benefit to 2+3/5 is that it gives people plateaus to hit in their communication. Communication with 1 person, communication with 2 people, then communication as a full team. More people that would be familiarizing themselves with shotcalling is another benefit.
Dynamic Queue would be the introductory system into organized play, encouraging people into the mindset that is used by professional teams, similar to how high school sports teams organize players to play like professionals. This is in line with Riot's goals for League of Legends as a sport that lasts generations.
Then they can have Solo Queue again (but with no duo).
Obviously rewards would differ (better read as lesser). Offering better rewards for Dynamic Queue specifically would encourage more people to try DQ, especially since many people would rather either play with friends or not play ranked at all.
At the same time Solo Queue would remain healthy, even with reduced end-of-season rewards compared to DQ, simply due to what it is. Many people did not play Solo Queue for rewards, they played it to see where they were at, play with people around their overall skill level, and for some to improve.
Solo Queue would be for improving mechanics, and players could take that as far as they wanted before entering the team-oriented ranked, if at all. Greater rewards in Dynamic Queue would incentivize this, and I believe it would lead to more people playing as organized teams than Dynamic Queue, as it is, ever will.
Currently and previously, people played 5-15 matches and quit team ranked unless they can easily climb past plat. How often do you see a gold or plat team? Its always either bronze, silver, or diamond+. Having stepping stones towards reaching fulfilling teamwork-based play is how the ranked system should work. And having both Dynamic and Solo is the perfect way to accomplish that, as long as Riot gives the right incentives to take the next step.
