The Positives of Dark Harvest

[sg-lux-2] Obviously the normal forum poster / really angry unranked player is going to only read whichever stands out to them and complain about it in a 8 comment long debate about how their elo is higher and [ Name literally anything ] is too broken and meta is game, fxxk this game I'm quitting. Then do it all again the next patch.

[sg-poppy] However those who are actually sane and aren't here to spread toxicity, please read on.

[sg-ahri-2]

I'm Mega Audinoz, Jinx support main; used to main Janna top in early Season 7 and a normal Lulu main in Season 6. Dark Harvest is a really hard hitting rune which allows poke and skirmishing in the rift way more successful.

And on the bright side, because of this; certain supports ( mostly enchanters who lack self-defense ) and resistance tanks ( especially the diver tanks ) have finally been picked more often than not.

I've seen a sky-rocket in players playing Leona Volibear RekSai Lulu Soraka these champions with Dark Harvest for the extra damage in lane which Comet and Aery lack. Is this a bad thing? Honestly, only for those outside their type.

Cho'gath has seen tons of utility from DH and has been played ( and even banned ) in a majority of my games recently! However, the only true problem with DH is the damage it gives to assassins or high-power champions.

A good example is one I play a lot, Jinx Jinx.

When Jinx has Dark Harvest and about 12 stacks, she can insta-kill most ADCs and Supports with her ultimate as soon as they hit 50% health.

But, a positive example is Urgot Urgot, being able to get the extra damage to proc on his ultimate to increase the slow or secure a reel in is handy for him.

If you don't believe me, next time you play support with a champion that isn't high-power like Brand, Zyra or Pyke; take Dark Harvest. You can easily finish off what the ADC can't. Especially with Lulu, and how Pix's Glitterlance can proc it off too!~

So in my opinion, Riot should lower the scaling but make the stacking more of the focus.

Example,

Dark Harvest Damage: 50 - 80 ( Based on level ) -> 25 - 200 ( Based on level )

  • 8 damage per soul -> + 8 damage per soul, halved on takedown. 0.25 Bonus AD -> 0.10 Total AD 0.15 -> 0.10 AP

Cooldown: 45s ( 1.5 on takedown ) -> 50s (manual proc) ( Takedown soul always drops. )

If it were like this, it's more powerful late game and doesn't make high-AD champions make the most of it. Supports can stack well if the ADC is doing well, besides poking for stacks themselves. Tanks can endure and gain more souls while soaking in teamfights until it's their time to shine for a slab of damage. Assassins would be forced to stack instead of killing if they desired more damage.

[sg-lulu] Aka, even if you killsteal you're not going to even gain as much as you would normally.

Dark Harvest is a stacking rune, and supports and tanks are making the best of it. Let's try to just find a ground where it's only good for those types; no?

Thank you for reading.

Mega.

That sounds like a really good change, but I think the base damage late game would be a little high.

A hypercarry or other late game champ could just take the rune and their team could stall until the marksman/hypercarry reaches lvl 18 and has a bunch of stacks to insta delete champs. Sure it looks like it does solve some problems, but to me it looks like it also creates or enhances another one.

Maybe with the takedown part, what if it only granted halve when you solo kill but another player with DH is near, the range would be calculated based on how far away the ally/enemy is. So if they are close enough that they can run up and grab the stack too then the amount you gained from the solo kill is like how you mentioned. But if you solo killed and nobody was close enough to get to the stack before it de spawned at the time of the solo kill then you get full value. LMK if I worded that wrong or weird.

Overall I like the changes, but to me it looks like you geared it more towards bot (sorry if this offends you but you did have a very clear and big bias towards supports using this rune).

If you want to improve it more I think you should look at how this rune was used before it’s rework, after it’s rework, what riot intended for both the original version and the reworked version. Look at the champs that the reworked version was “intended” for and try and change/nerf accordingly. In simpler words don’t use your bias or your main as a reason/way to balance the rune. I would recommend you to still keep most of the same mechanics or ideas as this version, mainly change your reasoning and change whatever needs to be changed so DH can (hopefully) be balanced and can also work how it was intended to.

Sorry if I sounded pushy or anything, I think it is a wonderful idea for a rework and there are some very strong and good points, concepts and changes in it, I’m now thinking about how we can make it better and also cleaning up your post so that this change can easily be accepted and looked at instead of people arguing over useless stuff like who actually uses it and who it is intended for.

Don't worry it was understandable, but besides the bias I had since the rework became great on low-damage champions; it IS meant for stacking. It should be hitting like Aery early and hitting like Electrocute late like a stacking champion should.

And I agree. Thanks for understanding lol

And good luck if you plan on editing this rework idea more!
