That, and I don't know about now, but back in the day Cassiopeia Fiddlesticks Swain destroyed him in lane.

thought swain use to be...

but fiddle is due to mainly being able to use drain on him while he is in his pool
and i think that is what mal is good vs him cuz i think ult him while in pool and how he pushes lane and the spell shield he gets

Champion wise?

I would say anyone with a strong earlygame like Renekton Pantheon

In midlane i'd say maybe something like Cassiopeia Malzahar

something you should do against vladimirs is always take summoner 14 so you can finish him off midlane unless your plan is to farm and potentially outscale him with someone like Cassio or Veigar

otherwise you should rush pen and morellos midlane early, and executioners top.

I think Vladimir is one of the best scaling champions to be played as a mage in mid, outclassing the 2 you mentioned if the gane goes to 30 - 40 minutes.
