Surveys are a way for us to, as democratically as possible, get a sense of what the player base is feeling. The other way is to basically "elect" popular streamers and community members to speak for you, but I'm guessing that you'd rather have your own voice heard (at least thats what I'd want). Surveys are a great way to get that input direct from players :). However! If you feel like T1 is doing a good job sharing your thoughts on the game in a well thought out, coherent, and rationalized manner than keep on keeping on :). Otherwise I'd encourage you to do a quick survey! It genuinely helps to inform decision making. This I'm certain of.

I don't think I am being extreme when I say many of us would rather cut our arms than having people like Tyler1 or Hasashin and their communities represent us.

At least, people like Cowstep talk with you and exchange on the topic, they don't pretend to be god that know it all, they just exchange about it.

It is like, to give you a french example, listening to Narkuss or Sardoche about the game and what riot is, instead of listening to people like Caelan, Doigby or coachs.

As a top laner i must say i did agree with most of what hashinshin was talking about. The lane really felt soooo bad and he was the only one trying to reach out and change it ( altho i kind of dislike the changes they made back then ) .

the Shinshin is a strange animal . I agree with a lot of what he rants about, I also disagree with a lot .

Sometimes when he tilts , if it were up to him , every champion but Jax are busted and need to be nerfed .

But He makes lots of valid points . NERF SINGED

ya, i really hate the fact that scarra represents anyone. alot of his "opinions" are extremely toxic such as him believing the game needs MORE damage and towers need to be weaker. that mentality should never be encouraged.

Yes I'm not saying surveys are useless however when we are talking about the occident. You just have to take a look of what videos on youtube say about the game and how many likes and dislikes this video has to give you an overall example. However yes if you want to take in consideration the players that play 1 game or 3 games per week. I dont think That's a good idea. My friends and me are the kind of people playing 5 games a day so we can establish way faster where the actual state of the game is compated to people playing 3 games a week. However we never received any survey. You should survey people which play a lot of games because those know better what is really going with the actual state of the game.

But it seems that you are now prefering the the community of players which don't like long games and that want a fast experience. Those kind of players which will leave lol the fastest way possible when it will stop to be a trend. You are neglecting veterans and transforming this game to fast games made for casus.

You owe your succes to the generation of players which came from the rts generation aka warcraft aoe strarcraft. Now you are giving to the cod generation the keys of the game ? And you expect veterans to be happy ?

If vets leave, streamers will leave and your game will stop to be a trend. Casus will leave too.

You'd better take a look at the video from the act man on youtube he tells you everything about what's wrong with your actual game. Don't change things for next season and your game will slowly die. I mean in occident because in asia it's another story and kind of players...

Wait is it possible to just fill out a survey whenever? I thought players just got them randomly.

So why not try to do real surveys on real question ? I don't care much about doing a survey on the general state of the game.

I want to do a survey on how busted or not irelia is I want to do a survey on how overtuned Zoe still is and why hasnt she been touched for months ? I want to do a survey on why is the damage so damn high on everybody ? I want to do a survey on why are all new champions/rework are so overloaded and make old champions obsolete hence almost disappear from games

I want to do a survey on these things that players everyday complain about and see them having an actual impact in the coming patches , quoting the surveys we answered .

My guess: we want to avoid survey fatigue. If we survey people on everything, the likelyhood of getting meaningful responses drop past a certain inflection point. I agree there should be avenues to share feedback, but I don't think surveys are the best tool for that specific avenue.

Tbh I had in the past an ingame survey about camille after I play 1/2 game of her at her launch. (for some of the reworked champ too)

Those survey really feel more impactfull than the generic one we have in each patch. I don't mind them, but if, let's say, 10% of the generic survey was about a specific change occuring in that patch it could be good too (not this feeling of a giving the same answers every patch)

Def don't disagree :), just have to be careful with how many of those you get. Too many and each one loses its importance

I mean We could just send out a one question survey (multiple choice) to all players and compile the response. It wouldn't devalue any other survey, and would give you guys the exact answer of the whole community. You could also then publish the results of these short questions so that players know if they are in the minority. That way we know if its worth complaining, because as a company you try to appeal to the Majority.

We could easily ask something like: Do you like one shotting and getting one shot for game balance? Yes No Sometimes

Do you feel armor is impatful Yes No

I want to avoid this spiraling cause we aren't disagreeing x). My suggestion is simply in the execution of the plan, less of the "what to do"

Maybe I'm confused or misread why we don't do the in client popups more often? I've gotten basically 1 a year, I would be more than happy to fill out one a day if it actually influenced balance. It also seems like the shortest fastest way to get opinions?

Edit: I understand that you don't want to clutter up the client with constant questions, but the solution could be to ask 2-3 questions after 10 or 20 games played on a patch or even every 100-300 games played, and make a client option to opt out of all future questions for those that don't like giving feedback or are tired of it.

Edit 2: Maybe my question should be what surveying have you found most effective so far, and is there a way the community can help improve that?

I've done 3 surveys in the past 30 days and 7 so far this year. 2 of those recent 3 were on the state of 3 randomly picked champions (elise, gnar, jayce, hecarim, malphite and voli) and what champ I thought needed a rework most (Skarner and Dr.Mundo). My latest 1 (today) was on riots communication. I'm just confused how you only get 1 a year; though all of the surveys have shown up in post game lobbies which some people leave instantly so IDK....

As someone who owns a lot of skins .... the only surveys I get from you guys is "why didn't you buy this skin?"

Which came across as very "Hey, whale, why didn't you buy this skin? You're a whale aren't you? Where's our money?"

I mean, I still enjoyed doing the survey, but ... yeah, still had a back-handedness to it.

Its just that the surveys we are getting right now are useless and lack any impact . they are too broad and common and don't address the real issues we encounter .

Focused surveys on specific issues in-game balances are what most of us want to be able to be heard on , and our only way is to hope for one of the board post to be so upvoted that'll attract riot's attention , or these surveys , that once again feel very underwhelming in their impact right now .
