Memeing aside - for real? I am still seeing the botlane carries being almost exclusively marksmen. Both professional and in SOLO Q. One would say that mid season kinda missed its mark
Patch 8.11 and 8.12 were the best patches of the season by far. ADC mains having their class not being completely mandatory for the first time in seasons was too much for them so Riot buffed them all back up lol.
People(ADC players and players who don't like change) whined a lot and Riot listened to the community outcry to bring ADCs back into the game.
Turns out that a lot of people who advocated for "bot lane diversity" aren't the ones playing it, and expected ADC mains to change entire champ pools overnight.
Which is why you still see people picking ADCs in your games. "You" as in your average League player in silver.
I don't mind having diversity in bot lane. The biggest problem is with how marksmen are built. Most of them are immobile squishies. If marksmen are able to lane, most other classes don't do great against them. If we see other classes against them then they likely are to weak to lane and can't get to late game where they are viable. It's unfortunate, but that's how it is. They could give them more defense to be able to lane without other classes being pushed out, but then you remove their weakness of being squishy later. There's really no winning.
Marksmen are not fit to play any other lane (except a few rule exceptions). If they would, it means they will be game breaking in the current environment. So they need to stick with a sup in the early game, even later on depending on the team comp.
A lot of players are playing marksmen and making them obsolete means throwing a big chunk of the fan base.
Also, marksmen where in the duo lane since at least season 2 so I don't know why people try to force marksmen out of the bot lane. This game needs more AP marksmen, but that's another story and is more about the actual lack of items and champions
You can also play atm: Ziggs, Irelia, Ahri, Akali, Azir, etc bot with success. But you need a decent sup pref with healing
