Leveling System In Duo Lanes

How does this work? I'm honestly confused. In my most recent match I was playing bot lane vs Ezreal and Bard. Bard didn't leave lane once besides the time when I killed him. However despite me having more kills and more CS how come Ezreal hit 6 before me? I backed from lane once a littler after Ezreal did to push out the wave. I came back to lane with my kill on bard and the 0/0/0 Ezreal with less CS hit 6 while I was still 5. Then right after Ezreal hit 6 lee sin ganked and killed me putting me further behind. How does that happen?

alright, one common misunderstanding is that killing cs does not give you experience. Simply being close to a minion when it dies will grant you the cs, and it's distributed evenly among all allies near the minion as it dies.

It's possible that the time that Ezreal was alone in lane while Bard was dead/coming back spent gathering xp as a solo laner provided more experience than you received for killing Bard, due to you sharing xp with your support the whole time
