When did Malzahar's Voidlings start giving less gold in return?

Just played a ranked game against a Malzahar, what suprised me was how each voidling I was able to kill only gave 2 gold instead of the usual 5. Riot, please make each voidlings give 5 gold again, it's not worth moving my finger to get 2 gold in return.

They're much easier to kill now so that is probably why. Also it is worth trying to kill them because they're trying to kill you... What's more important? An extra 9 gold or your health bar?
