About the New Upcoming Rune system...
Could we keep current runes and have the new system be an additional level of customization? That would increase variety even further.

They are removing old runes since it forces them to keep many champs nerfed due to their optimal rune setups.
There are also cheese strats (like full crit runes) which they want removed so they can actually balance certain champs appropriately.
