So something i just realized about aatrox...

  1. Aatrox is a less viable xin zhao by design
  2. Aatrox NEEDS to be able to hold his blood rush while "in combat"
  3. Aatrox NEEDS his spells to be spammable if riot wants to keep his blood rush in such a ridiculously small window

  1. Yes, but his heal used to scale with AD so he actually healed for a lot, unlike XIn's AP scaling heal.
  2. Hell no. It could be a lot stronger if it didn't refresh every time he was in combat, so he wouldn't dominate extended trades and would start to fall off once his Blood Well goes down.
  3. Or make his ult auto proc Blood Well, regardless of enemies hit. I'd recommend removing W's damage form from building Blood Well on minions, he should poke with E's to charge it up and give you time to engage on him before he can proc it.

It's so stupid. You can mostly only get your passive when you have your ultimate anyway. Thats the whole problem. Wihtout your ultimate you also don't have a passive and therefore Aatrox is extremly weak without it. Total missdesign

Except in lane, where you build up 3 stacks on minions. Remember?

I know, but it falls down so quickly, it's total annoying to pay the whole time attention that your bar doens't deplets but doesn't get full eiher. Unnecessary minigame. And when you get it full for a fight it deplets so fast.

Had a game where i fought Hecarim in the middlelane and chased him to right before t2 tower. Back in the middle at t1 tower i fought a lux and my bar was already empty by the time and had to fight here without attackspeed.

As long as you're autoing, it'll stay there. If not, it sucks.

But it doesn't. Not if they want to fight you. The buff only lasts 4 seconds, but dealing damage to an enemy champion refreshes it. If they run away, that's the correct counterplay. Try not popping it instantly, and instead wait for them to commit.

Yes, that's the point. If you're out of combat, it'll go down. Avoiding Aatrox for 4 seconds when his Blood Well is up is the intended counterplay. As it is, he can't really stick, but I'd like his Blood Well to not refresh (so you can actually fight him when it's up) but give him more stick.

What, why a melee Autoattack hero needs an additional mechanic to make kiting the proper counterplay. Kiting was always the counterplay against Aatrox. And it's much easier to kite Aatrox than most other heroes. Going away when someone attacks you is counterplay. Punishing Aatrox for attempting to play aggresive is just stupid.

Here you had a hero with major flaws and the solution is to add even more flaws while taking his strenghts away at the same time?

And why has Aatrox to be the only hero whoes passive gets COMPLETELY countered just by going away. Like they think because of the nerfs they gave him he is suddenly op and kiting isn't an option against him anymore or what?

That's why I want to give him more stick.

Oh, and all the other champions who are COMPLETELY countered just by going away: Illaoi Darius Garen Shyvana DrMundo

That last one's actually not true, but the rest of them are. They're called 'Juggernauts'.

You don't get my point. No ones passive gets deactivated because they get kited. And so did Aatrox get counterplayed vefore his rework as well. There is no need to five a melee autoattacker counterplay in kiting because they have that by default. And why should he get more stickiness? He has a jump and a slow what do youw ant more?

Sion passive. Not that Aatrox doesn't have his issues though.

Old Aatrox's Blood Well fell off when he was out of combat too, so...

Also, that's completely wrong. Anyone with a buff that doesn't refresh whenever they hit their target is vulnerable to being kited until it goes down. Also, Darius loses his passive if he's kited, which is the whole point.

The thing youare missing with this is

A)the game doesn't exist in a static lane. If you are push the enemy to his turret, you will not be able to easily hold on to stacks or get stacks when he is hugging turret. This leaves you more vulnerable to ganks. Also, this makes it hard to do a good tower dive.

B)When hugging your own turret the same is true, you wont have stacks and you are easily tower dived.

C)You are very vulnerable to a surprise assassination, making moving through the jungle a lot more dangerous

D)You will often arrive at team fights with no way to stack to Blood Rush before the fight starts, which destroys any chance of being an engager.

So now he can't split easily He can't dive turrets He can't defend turrets He is easier to gank He is not as effective as an initiator AND his 1v1 dueling is not as good

WHY are you even arguing against us about Aatrox. You are completely wrong on so many levels. Just stop dude.

A) You can auto the minions once every 3 seconds or so. That's not gonna push it too hard, especially before TIamat, as you have no AoE and won't be using E to push. In fact, that should line up fairly well with last hitting.

B) True, but like I said, your ult should pop it instantly. Also, that's part of the counterplay - denying Aatrox the ability to stack it up. Otherwise, if they can't keep you from minions, you'll be healed up completely and you'll get passive stacks. Aatrox was always like that, tbh. So is Trynd and Olaf and similar.

C) That is indeed true. A tankier build, the one they're encouraging, right now, however, won't be oneshot, and will probably have time to stack their passive.

D) Ult. It gives 20% for each person hit - Q+E is 40%, ult hitting 2 people is 80%, now one W damage auto gets you to full.

Well, he can split alright, just staying at 3 stacks. The stacks will fall off between waves, however, so he'll just have to be careful about fighting anyone when he's not at 3 stacks. He can, if he doesn't get kited. He'll have his passive up as long as he's in combat. Also, it's got a shorter CD than before, I think. He's melee with only 1 AoE ability, of course he can't. Tiamat helps, though. Hit the melee minions, E+Tiamat the ranged ones. Only if you're not ready at 3 stacks. How so? Getting to full Blood Well fairly reliably as long as you hit more than one person with it is far better than it used to be. Blood Well itself is only slightly weaker than a full Blood Well before the rework in terms of AS, and now it also grants extra base AD. Yep. He's more of a tankier champion now. Duelists tend to be damage based. However, his tank fighting is far better than it used to be. He'll heal more and also he gets to use his Blood Well for a long, long, long time, literally however long the fight takes, as long as he stays in combat.

Why are you fighting the Aatrox mains about this? You do feel the need to argue against anyone that criticizes riot?

Because I'm trying to talk about Aatrox who, while I do not main, have played fairly often?

The huge issue you are missing this that aside from his revive and healing, Aatrox has no defensive abilities. He is one of the few top laners that don't have built in resistances, shields, blocks or parries or burst of bonus health. That is to say, abilities that allow the champion to stay in combat or run instead of just sitting there as Aatrox does. It was acceptabel for him not to have any of this because of his insane sustain and always ready revive. His sustain is no longer insane, and his revive is no longer always ready. So now he is very bare bones. The few top laners that don't have any build in defenses that I mentioned do massive damage, true damage, magic damage, %health damage in any combo and often have a way to reduce resistances or armor pen or built in crits, which Aatrox has NONE of.

You are fundamentally missing the reason why his revive always not being ready his a huge problem.

It was never acceptable for him to not have this, that's why he was/is super weak remember?

Riot is looking to change his kit so he can be buffed without being overbearing. If that nerfs him for the time being, that's fine with them, they'll give it number buffs and see how it works.

Failog1 votes

A contigent revive means he is weaker now. Period. To make that acceptabel they would have to give him more defenses or make him do a lot more healing or a lot more damage.

I'm fine with that. Get rid of it and give him power elsewhere.

More buffs needed which was claimed to potentially be done in 7.6.
