This game desperately needs more supports.

I remember the constant complaints about champion diversity for every other lane, the most recent being jungle, but no one seems to talk about how short the list of viable supports really is. Currently if one looks at Champion.gg, the shortest ranking lists are the support(23) and ADC(18) role, with half the support picks being either somewhat off-meta or nonviable. Hell, the support list has actually been shrinking as more and more champions just not being played in any remotely significant numbers as a support anymore. They just delisted Kayle support recently.

Does anyone else feel like Riot ought to direct more focus towards supports?

you dont need that half as much as more players who know how to do the job.

The vast, vast majority of champions in the game go mid or top. I think that's part of the reason you see people fighting over them in every game: whoever any given person in a lobby mains is most likely a mid laner or top laner.

There are lot of champs that can play support you would not think are support, like vieger for example.
