Maybe time for an emergency hotfix and slow power redistribution like what happened with Zoe?

Zoe was left busted for at least two patches

Sir Saltarin9 votes

Zoe was busted but she is hard to play and her winrate was actually average on soloQ

But since Mordekaiser is braindead that doesn't happens

And that they waited too long to nerf Zoe isn't something that should be copied, is a lesson for the future and a perfect example is how Morde should be quickly nerfed unlike Zoe was

Can we at least wait more then a day for people to actually start learning his kit?

PopcornBunni69 votes

Considering how busted he is from people that haven't learned his kit I don't want to see his optimized learning curve in his current state, no.

Saezio4 votes

I don't think learning his kit is hard at all tho. Maybe playing against it is a bit hard and that's why the high winrate.

In anyway if I was riot I would collect at least a week's worth of data before acting. Ranked players do have the ban option so it's not like they can complain.

Teriyaki Bukkake10 votes

Yeah, learning his kit isn't hard at all. That's part of the problem.

There are no weaknesses you need to watch out for that majorly ruin your lane. You have no resources. You scale regardless of if you're fed or not. You can literally always be useful due to sheer damage output, constant AOE%hp damage, and an ulti that removes people from the game.

The champ is easily broken, that much isn't hard to see. What they do about his kit is up for grabs though

Z3Sleeper6 votes

I don't think it's inherently broken, I think it's just over-tuned (needs number nerfs). Haven't played as/against it enough to truly say whether the ult is broken or not.

Teriyaki Bukkake1 votes

Yeah but even if it is just a numbers game (which most people believe it is, including myself) he's still broken in his current state.

Z3Sleeper2 votes

Yeah for sure I don’t think any sane person could say he doesn’t need nerfs, i just think it’s too early for mechanics changes.

If we give it more time, people will learn to play around it. Atm, people cant dodge his E, underestimates his passive, dont buy qss etc.

Nrsh6 votes

Remember that people still have to learn how to play AGAINST him. I'm not saying it will completely solve the problem but it seems to me that right now people can't ever dodge his Q and E when the only thing you need to do is go to the side instead of running in a sraight line. I do think he needs some nerfs, just not the gutting people seem to think he needs.

LordGeovanni2 votes

E is easy enough to dodge but q is so big and fast on top of it being a really low cooldown but you cant afford to not dodge everyone single one but because of how much damage it does you have to. but to even have a chance at dodging it you have to be constantly in motion 1 to fake out your direction and 2 to change direction when the cast start there isnt even time to auto attack once he maxes and gets cdr

Nrsh2 votes

Not really, It's not as big and definitelly not as fast as you make it out to be, it also doesn't have mush range. For example I played against a Kai'sa and couldn't hit her with Q, she had time to aa me twice then use E and get out then aa me again befroe the animation ended.

LordGeovanni1 votes

Im not saying it cant be dodged just that its massive and takes so long to dodge if you dont have range you cant then fight mordekaiser again in its down time. Of course ranged champions have it better because riot intentionally gives them saving graces in kit so that they dont have to build defense on top of the range that allows them to not build defense. Riot basically balances everything around ranged champions doding it. champions like darius illaoi tahm kench blitzcrank leona and taric are the ones who have to either eat all the mordekaiser q's and magic resist is super poor.

Nrsh2 votes

In the example i gave, Kai'sa was always fighting me in my range. Also, Darius destroys Morde right now, but even if he didn't some movement speed and basic skill can negate all his damage, and even if it didn't, then he counters some champions, is that wrong? not even taking into account that: blitz SHOULD lose a 1v1 to Morde cause he is meant to play around getting the enemies into his teamates, tahm taric is a support that is supposed to always be with teamates and can also avoid all of Morde's damage but simply stunning him if he gets close, Tahm isn't supposed to be as strong a fighter as he is now (remeber that he is a support as well), Leona has a butt load of cc and is also a supprt meant to go in with teamates, and Illaoi has her ranged tentacles and test of spirit.

What a stupid comment to make. Honestly.

I know right, instead if a champion doesn't have a perfectly balanced win rate in the first day, that means they are broken or too weak, because it has NEVER happened where a champion was buffed because of that and ended up broken or vice versa, never ever.

Pick Rate 4.85% 204 Win Rate 60.29%

hue 68% win rate at 40min+ hue his jungling on the other hand seems to be way underpowered 47% winr ate on that bad boy

slightly strong i think the ban rate is because he is new and people don't want him first timed in their games more than he is actually strong

DontVaccinate1 votes

So Riven is just allowed to have a 57% winrate in master+ just because she takes a few days to learn? Why could pro players pick her up in a few days and master her? It's so stupid that you complain so much about a new champion who has a high winrate because he's a bit overstat and has a new kit, but do not acknowledge Riven at all.

Morde's kit is very easy to use, it does not surprise me that he has a high winrate. I dont think he needs a harsh nerf, maybe a tiny bit to his passive, and I think he will be fine.

Jet Sett7 votes

Little early to be calling for nerfs. Let's see how things go from here, especially since it hasn't even been 24 hours yet.

Sir Saltarin4 votes

The first hotfix nerfs to Irelia happened in less than 2 days aswell

MalignMetal2 votes

Irelia could chase down whole teams when fed. Morde locks down 1 and people can still get away from Morde.

SolarisCorvus5 votes

First the ban rate is because he’s new. Second the winrate is probably due to him being a new champ and people not knowing how to play against him or how his kit interacts with theirs.

JackMcCarry6 votes

Yet morde players know how their kit works and interacts with others? It's a double edge argument.

Malicious Metal18 votes

Because Morde is really easy to play.

JackMcCarry5 votes

If it's simple to play, it's simple to learn to play against, Garen is easy to play, Garen is easy to understand how to play against. If the morde players doesnt have to put too much effort into winning why should everyone else put more?

its not entirely clear yet. people need time to understand counterstrategies to the champion which may take a few days.

for example by herself, Mordekaiser shits on Illaoi since his ult removes her tentacles and the spirit from the field. she would just have to fight him on her own without tentacles around, which is practically impossible.

but illaoi with item 3139 or item 3140 should completely dumpster the morde, since she effectively negates his ult, instead of him negating hers.

people also still pick every champion into him.

wait a while until counterpicks and what champions morde counters becomes clear.

Her playrate is atrocius so no morde is not boosting himself on corpses of poor illaoi players. Its something else.

no, hes boosting himself on the corpses of every player who hasnt had the time to learn what the champion does.

imagine Darius was released today, no one would know how strong he is in a head on fight and everyone would still experiment and trade with him early on.

his winrate would be insane.

but we know that you dont fight darius in extended tades at lvl 1 or 2, and we have adjusted our play. we have learned what works to beat him, and devised counterstrategies even in losing matchups.

morde might be too strong currently. but hes also made to be a really strong duellist, and his kit is easy to grasp when playing him at the same time.

like maybe give it a week instead of a single day, to understand what it actually is that makes his winrate so high. is it an overtuned kit, or lack of knowledge on his opponents?

On one side you say his kit is easy to grasp on other hand you say people dont have time to learn against him. His kit is strightforward even same as darius you get near you get grabed and gutted. He has nothing fancy in his kit (exept ult) nor he is dashing around like yasuo, by actual play against him it basic against melee matchup but he has insane numbers so he can just brute force through and steroid out of game duel forcing ult is pretty good tool for snowbaling.

it has been 1 day.

obviously if you play morde 20 games in a row you will have more experience than the guy who plays against you and has played against morde maybe 12 out of 20 games.

how many of those guys know what qss does against him yet? how many marksmen are rushing item 3139 atm to negate his ult when he tries to corner them?

im not saying hes not too strong. im saying wait like a week or so and observe what happens. if his winrate keeps rising and gets out of hand, then yea he probably needs a nerf.

but right now, his stats are the same that vayne had for almost 4 month, and that riven had for like half a year?

and im not even kidding. Vayne had close to 30% pick rate and 56% win rate for 4 month at high mmr.

Riven has 57% winrate and 10% pick rate at master tier+ right now.

would be a bit hypocritical to hit him with hotfix nerfs right away.

I think ur wrong. Ppl just ban him for the first two weeks just like all chimpions

Riyal4 votes

ppl ban him just for two weeks because all of the champs who came out as the same stroy as mord : illaoi, zoé, akali etc ... get emergency patch 2 weeks after so no need to ban anymore .... the real question is what is about riot balance team and what's the real purpose of beta server if monsters like that comes live ... got it ?

Malicious Metal4 votes

Riot Scruffy is already on it.

Him and Jonathan are aware that he landed a tad too strong and they’re looking at making his weaknesses more pronounced.

Naalith4 votes

I honestly think Mordekaiser is a champion who, unlike other champions, will have a decreasing winrate over time. First of all people don't know that any QSS or cleanse spells can take you out of his ultimate, and they also walk into him like people used to do when Illaoi first came out. It's like it doesn't register that he's a juggernaut and will slam you on the head if you walk up to him. He's not that hard to play either, so people are already hitting the skill ceiling while opponents still think going melee with him 1v1 is a good idea.

GigglesO3 votes

It probably is just like Illaoi... stop just walking flat up to him and thinking you get to out stat him just by standing next to him...

PopcornBunni1 votes

The ult is the least of his problems. He outranges every melee champ and denies farm while freely controlling waves thanks to Q and E.

GigglesO5 votes

He outranges every melee champ

Irelia - 200 attack range...

Also. As one of the most played morde world... The matchups that he won before and after are almost identical. His wave management is almost identical. Stop acting like this is something new. He is countered by mobility and range. Use them against him. Hell even just do short burst trades where you deal alot of damage and back off.

He can't really do damage to you if his spinning circle doesn't touch you. Deal your damage and bitch out. If you can't nuke him thats too bad. You just have to play like league used to be played. Do a short trade, another short trade, go in for kill.

I played tristana i had 6 kills morda had 8 and i couldnt fight him.. he just killed me again and again i couldnt hit him.. and always the team wins with morde. This champ is not fair. And his ulti is disgusting.

Cain aD4 votes

so what you are saying is champ meant to duel and who had more kills than you beat you < an adc> in a 1v1. when you could kite to the edge ult him away when he gets back then jump away the proc your e and jump again to kite out his entire ult. seems you dont know how to adc or trist which makes your opinion on a champs balance irrelevant because your knowledge and mechanics are below average
