It's sad how low elo players refuse to accept that they just suck at the game. First step to climbing is realizing that you are garbage and figuring out what you need to fix to improve. If you think players who climb just climb by abusing freelo Champs then you don't know what you are talking about. The higher you go in elo how people think and play change drastically, they are simply way better than those who play at lower elos. Learn where you are fucking up and fix that shit, otherwise sit in low elo and keep crying about shit teammates feeding their asses off and how there was nothing you could've done to win the game.

What you mean "Play the top 10 champs or go home"

swordishforce29 votes

At below diamond you can play any champ that hasn't been deliberately nerfed into the ground and do well. It all depends on how good you are with that champ. If you main an off-meta champ you can still climb.

Reallife is sad9 votes

The main problem of the current meta, that you cant afford picking out-of-meta champions even at gold elo. The top-10 is super easy to execute, in my opinion, even with a basic game understanding. The second problem is that the meta is very-very narrow, compared to other moments of LoL history.

The game is becoming something, in terms of meta, which Hearthstone became a year ago, when I left it.

SaltyToplaneGoat9 votes

The top-10 is ofc super easy as they consist of rightclicking mostly, thx to sated and rageblade. The highest power output from the simplest move in the game next to the movement command.

The concept of a melee damage carry had ALWAYS sucked. Either these champs are garbage. Or they are so oppressive they dominate the entire meta. Not sure why Riot sticks to it.

SaltyToplaneGoat60 votes

AHAHAHAHAHA no.

Below diamond you have a 99% chance of your teammates being feeding fodder for their sated devourer jungler. And no matter how good I am, I cannot prevent 4 people from making mistakes again and again and again. And if I do try giving advice I'm accused of being " a worthless flaming whore".

First of all, you can scrap EVERY SINGLE CHAMPION THAT RELIES ON TEAMWORK TO BE EFFECTIVE. This is why no one wants to support btw. If you team consists of potential 4 morons you don't want to be the one dependent on them. Second, forget everything lategame oriented. Your team will feed brutally and you will never reach lategame.

Also, you can forget every jungler that can not immedeatly gank at level 2/3 because if you pick something that has to farm even a little to be effective and it's no sated user (like, let's say Diana) your teamates will have lost all lanes before you even finish your first clear.

You can also forget every sustained damage mage that is not Malzahar or Liss for total lockdown plays.

Also, never expect anyone to even know what peeling is, aka only mobile adcs are viable.

And that is not even taking in consideration the champions who are at the low end of the balance meta right now.

If I can climb through diamond on kindred top, you can climb on whatever you want. Quit making excuses, it ensures you will never improve.

SaltyToplaneGoat37 votes

You just had luck.

Because that's what it boils down to. Luck that the stupid moron was in the other team. Luck that your teamates were a little less braindead than the others. Luck until you reached a level where skill might actually matter more as the bad players fall back to their Elo again.

Climbing in the current state of the game is 100% luck with absolutely no skill involved.

I climbed several divisions this season. Dropped all of them in two days because of toxics and noobs. And that was not my fault, the matchmaking stats make that obvious. You cannot carry a 0/8/0 feeder in this snowball meta. You just can't. Oh yeah THEORETICALLY everything is possible with teamwork and all.

But this is soloQ. Finding teamwork in here is like finding the Pope in a strip club - absolutely impossible and unnatural it's almost hilarious.

Starcraft243ver4 votes

There is no luck involved in your ranking once you have a good number of game. You dont need to win every game to climb the ladder, you need to win more than one game out of two.

Whether you win or lose one game is up to luck. Whether you win or lose 100 games is up to skill.

But, yes, you can focus on how bad your teammates are and stay bad as well, or focus on how YOU are playing and climb the ladder. If you are happier complaining rather than improving i'm fine with that, it's your choice after all.

ShotHottie3 votes

Um truest statement I've ever read? Yes. It is.

SaltyToplaneGoat3 votes

I could toss a coin 100 times. If I get heads 100 times does that make me an awesome coin tosser? Or am I just witnessing a really rare yet possible event that has zero correlation with me tossing said coin?

Ofc I focus on how bad my teammates are. I'm trying my best already. But no matter how good I am, my midlaner still feeds 0/7/0 to the enemy jungler despite me already keeping an eye on his lane and pinging like crazy when danger approaches. I already tell them to play safe when I see them going recklessly oppressive. but what do I get in response? This: "shut up you flamer bastard" dies again "Report Kyoki for flame".

What do you want me to do? Roam the entire map and kill every single enemy just so they can't feed of my garbage teammates? You know dam well that this is not possible. I already ward. I already give chat warnings about the enemy jungler position. I already try to take out at least 2 enemies from my teamfight hoping that my noob team will at least be able to win 4vs3.

Sometimes it works. But mostly they suck so hard it's like playing 3 vs 7 from the start.

And that is not even counting the toxic behavior some of these players might display that might lose you the game.

Starcraft243ver3 votes

You obviously dont know anything about the law of large number. Well it's not that chocking considering you dont seem to understand how this game, or how people works either.

You are NEVER EVER going to teach them how to play. So just quit typing. I did this a while ago and I've never regretted it.

I've played at lower elos to play with some friends (yeah its bad, sorry), and 1v9 is definitely possible as annie supp for example. You just need to be everywhere and win every single lane. And guess what ? It's the same shit at higher elo. I saw a record of the best KR player, playing ezreal a few weeks ago. He took his tower at 7 min and then just snowballed his entire team by talking mid tower then top tower. Ennemies where not wood scrubs, they were challengers too.

Idk what elo you are since you dont post from your main account, but i can tell you that your ranking IS revelant and not bounded to luck or anything. I smurfed on a few account and ALL of them ended up at the same elo (more or less 1 division). NO EXCEPTION.

SaltyToplaneGoat2 votes

Weird. It seems like you don't know about it either.

Du you know how large the number of coin tosses has to be to be truly 50:50? I tell you, it's more than 100. Same thing applies to this game as well. Sure, over the course of like a 1000 games I climb as well because then the luck if finally working for me too. But that doesn't mean that the 900 games until then are any fun.

Not to mention that this game is not SUPPOSED TO RUN ON LUCK ALONE.

You know the key difference between that Ezreal in challanger and the one in Low Elo?

Let's say both take a tower at seven minutes. Meanwhile on the high elo play everyone else has a somehow tied lane and even if they lost it's maybe being on kill and some cs behind the enemy. The game is pretty even, then the Ezreal comes and tilts it to the favor of his team.

On low ELO the team has already fed the enemy Zed five kills who then proceeds to roam to just get more kills. Meanwhile you have zero chance to prevent the enemy sated jungler from farming their devourer. Oh and btw top has lost two towers by now and is too busy flaming than actual playing. Also, you are so behind you can barely contest dragons as a team.

The scale of the game is already so tilted towards the enemy team that you can barely make it even out again with individual skill alone.

Rozair28 votes

I agree. I went Ali support and ended the game 5/7/12. I had the most kills on my team and least deaths. It was pitiful to say the least. You cannot carry as a support so it's pointless to even play support

I had a longer more well defined and thought out post, but I somehow deleted it. (Stupid me) So I'll just drop the TL;DR

Assuming everyone in your team is bad, that should be an accurate representation of everyone else in that elo, and if not then you're simply unlucky. If everyone else in that elo is bad, shouldn't that mean it's 4 feeders + You V.S 5 feeders?

YungTrapWizardM85 votes

This.

hgjkdlsaf jeldvb4 votes

the only constant on all these terrible teams you have is you. If people are feeding their sated jungler, the second you have a sated jungler, the same should happen. If you play well. If you win your lane consistently or destroy them consistently as jungle, you will climb. If you actually understand how to play the map and play with a team, even if they aren't doing well, you can move up.

Those of us climbing out of silver and gold were able to do so for a reason. The state of the game's balance has nothing to do with it. Quit circlejerking this bullshit. The problem is you, and players like you. It's your bronze ass mentality. You don't need to improve because you already belong in diamond, right? It couldn't possibly be that you aren't good enough to make enough of a difference on a silver game to carry out. Luck is only a factor over small numbers of games. Over 30+ games though? The pattern indicates that you, as a player, are not as good as you think you are. There will always be unwinnable games. There will always be shitty streaks. You will never be "unable to climb" unless you belong where you are.

CritsAProcess2 votes

This is the most BS response to comments about balance and community toxicity right now. 'The only constant is you'. No, the only constant is the game's balance state. Sometimes I play well and sometimes I don't, but I can't remember the last time I had two games in a row where someone on my team didn't feed their ass off.

No-one who makes this argument, and certainly not this poster, ever claimed they belong in Diamond. I am a firm believer that the balance and rank system in this game are terrible but there's no way I belong in Diamond. I'd say right now I'm mid-gold in skill level.

The problem is that Gold skill level is not enough to drag you out of bronze alone. You MUST get lucky as well. If you are unlucky then you must continue to play in bronze until you get lucky enough to have a slightly less frequent amount of feeders, ragers, trolls, leavers, blamers, and general assholes for a significant enough period of time to get out of Bronze.

People point at pro players through diamond level players and they say 'well, look at them, they climbed repeatedly! See! That proves the only problem is you!' but what they fail to take into account is that Diamond/Challenger/Master/Pro level players have had time in higher elos to sharpen the skills and awareness which enable one to climb. They are forced to play against better players and so their own skill increases, or they fall.

But when you're extremely unlikely to develop plat/diamond/challenger/master/pro level mechanics and game sense playing against other bronze players.

Player skill is an important part of climbing. I am not denying this and neither is the poster above.

But it's not an important ENOUGH part of climbing. The skill and attitude of my teammates makes this game far too luck based for a rank system like Riot's to work.

Blizzard's system works well because the only two factors are You and the Enemy. You can objectively say that a bronze/silver SC2 player belongs where they are because there are no outside factors interfering in their match results.

Riot's system fails because it equates individual rank with multiple-person skill and attitude.

But please, straw man and ad-hominem more to protect your precious ego. [slayer-jinx-unamused]

It's weird how plats/diamonds/challengers/masters somehow climbed the ladder with the game in this extremely unbalanced state. They must have cheated or something....OR maybe you should just focus on yourself and getting better instead of coming to the forums to complain how the game balance is holding you back from your true ranking.

if you check the champs they play when doing it you can see why. They usually play the most broken and carry hardest champs. They stay away from team work at all levels.

That is not a endorsement of a healthy team work game.

I am not going to say challenger or master are not better than me mechanically (cause they are). This gives them an advantage at solo q. Iwilldominate just completed a unranked to D1 in a week. During this time he stated it was not worth working with his team. HE took only champs that he knew could tip the advantage with.

I would of loved to see a challenger player do this shit with weaker champs. Temmo tops or Naut/Mao jungles. Hell watch one of them main support (and play as a support not a off carry). They wont cause these things are all weak and hard to win with. These are not solo carry styles but team styles.

Some people like team work or a supportive play style, these styles have not carried since season 2.

Maybe they wouldn't climb as fast, but they would climb. I guaratee you. The notion of "carrying" games is pure illusion based on selective memory. You can carry all games if you're a smurf, and obviously it's easier to do as Katarina or Zed than Janna or Thresh. But if you're an averege player on your elo, then it's just nonsense. You will pick that Katarina or Zed mid and think you will carry. And you will sometimes. But sometimes you will feed the enemy midlaner and they will carry instead. But most players don't remember such games. Or blame those on bad teammates (see comments above - "my teammates suck", "can't climb because of trolls" etc.). You have a lot of impact on the game playing those carry roles, but that means you have a lot of room to screw up. As a support, you can't win the game singlehandedly, but one, that doesn't mean you have no impact on the game whatsoever. Two, that means that if you mess up, it won't be as catastrophic for your team. But anyway, you don't need to carry every game, or any game even, to climb up. All you need is to win more than you lose. I play Lissandra, and this season, from silver IV to gold IV I've had 60% winrate with her. I don't know if she's a carry-type champion, but I very rarely do so. My KDA resembles more a support than a top/midlaner most of the time. But somehow I won those games, and somehow I managed to climb nonetheless. And previous seasons I climbed to gold playing Thresh alongside Liss.

Just a quick look at the lolking tells me that you're playing too many positions and too many champions, you've accumulated 28 losses on champions you decided to use only once or twice. Your most effective positions are mid and support, yet you keep spamming Diana jungle and inexplicably shifted to Irelia jungle at which point you lost and decided to make this thread. Perfect balance is an illusion, if you're unable to rise above it then don't. The game is not in a perfect state, I hate tanks with ZZ'Rot portals and I hate Udyr, but that's because I'm a support player and don't have the tools to deal with those threats myself. I still do whatever I can to rise above the FoTM OP challenges this game presents me and climb. How long you have been playing is largely irrelevant, as the game has changed so much since Season 1 it's not the same game anymore.

You either pick up the pieces and keep going or you quit. Both are acceptable options.

Rozair6 votes

I already know that the game cannot be perfectly balenced but they can do so much to make it more balenced and they chose not to. They clearly favor champions. I'm not even saying nerf the champion. Aside from Udyr movment speed fizz troll pole super low cooldown and zed energy regeneration. I don't think a champion in the game needs a nerf. They are all built to do what they do. But they nerf champions then they nerf items that broke the champion and leave the champion dumpstered. For insane. Vayne was never ever picked before blade of the ruined king came out. They had synergy and worked well together. They nerfed vayne and now she's balenced around the item. Devourer however has been in the game before feral flare in some form and has always been overpowered. They refuse to remove it from the game and it kills me. Feral flare was much more balenced then sated devourer. Plus rageblade with devourer is all the damage you need and then you can super tanky and be unstoppable as any melee champion. Even Diana can do it as an ap champion. It's just not right.

Hey guys, I carried from Silver 1 to Platinum 5 so far this season on mostly Singed. As a general response to all the circle jerking and mindless bitching going on in this thread, I'm going to tell you all something you probably don't want to here.

Welcome to season 6. If you can't be bothered to learn how to play in the new state of balance, you're not going to move up. If you can't be bothered to critically examine your own gameplay, you won't move up. If you think that the only reason you aren't moving up is your teammates, you won't move up.

Here's the thing. You, and maybe the people you queue with, are the only constants in your games. You would be surprised how shitty mentality fucks with your play. It's not even that noticeable except for more lost games in some cases. Yes, you'll get feeder teammates. So will the enemy team. In fact, given that you're so good, you only have 4 possible feeders to their 5. So you should absolutely climb if you're actually better than these people. I don't just mean winning lane. That's a good way to start. Being up in farm, kills, and xp certainly give you an advantage, but you need to understand how to translate that into a win. Most silver games I watch have shitty, awful, god damn frustratingly bad macro play. You people don't even realize it. Every platinum and higher player probably sees it. Some may not be able to put it to words, but I assure you they recognize it. You can't just carry a fat sack of gold to the nexus and beat it to death. You need to invest that money. You need to use it to get more money back. You need to use it to create pressure on the map to create opportunities to take objectives. This is why platinum games are so much shorter than silver games. Because we know how to pressure objectives. We know how to capitalize on a lead and abuse mistakes. We don't sit on our hoard of gold with our thumbs up our asses.

And seriously, the balance of this game is always shitty. Yesterday's Riven is today's Fiora. There's always some stupid outlier. You will get old waiting for riot to nerf everything in the game that is too strong or for them to buff an old main that isn't that good anymore. Learn to play your current champ pool in the current meta, or start learning champs that handle this meta better.

You've yet to experience the visceral, life sucking hell hole that is mid plat elo. This can certainly be applied to lower elo games, where playstyle is incredibly different, but in upper to mid plat it is true hell. You're in the twilight zone of people being bad enough to feed and people being good enough to not get stomped. Simply winning your lane will not guaruntee that you win the game, by any means. Hell, it doesn't even increase your odds to win in this meta. It basically just a 50/50 tossup of who's team is going to feed/fuck up first and inevitably get stomped. Or who is going to die once at 20 mins and snowball the game into the enemy's favor. The snowball meta is so incredibly toxic. It not only takes away from the impact of the individual, but it basically makes ranked just RNG. I was able to hit diamond 5 in season 4 and plat 1 in season 5 by playing well and carrying myself (as a support main, even) but it is literally impossible to do anything of the sort in this meta. It is actually disgusting how easily a game turns on it's head from one mistake. It creates snowbally stomp fests, or 60 minute farm/split push games where nothing happens because everyone is too afraid to fight. This is the reason everything is so out of whack. You cannot compare previous seasons "climbing tips" to this season, because season 6 is entirely different from any we've had before. Before where you could simply play well and climb, you must snowball and hardcarry the game, and that doesn't even guarantee your sucess. Solo queue is a low communication environment, and as such you cant be expected to have 100% perfect team coordination. This means that at some point someone is going to make a mistake , and in a meta such as this, a single mistake costs you the game. That is why it is so difficult to climb. You can cite all the anecdotal support you want, but when you're in mid plat-low diamond, ranked is an entirely different animal.
