Every game is 30-2 and 25 minutes long.

One way or the other. Stomp or be stomped.

First tower blood = almost guaranteed victory. This game is currently a coin-toss where if you mis-step even once, you lose the game through a massive snowball. Or if the enemy mis-steps even once, you win the game through a massive snowball.

There's no 22-24 games anymore.

Its 30-2 or 2-30. There is no "close games." There is no knock down, drag out slugfests. Its just absolute annihilation of one team or another, and it is 100% not fun.

I'm waiting eagerly to see what the end-of-year patch will bring, and if it doesn't fix the issues this game is facing right now, I might be hanging up my boots for a while.

That's because right now, all the new accounts are rushing to get into the mix, don't understand how placements work, and many accounts are literally ranking their new accounts right now, thinking the rank they have right now is going to stick.

At the same time, some other players just don't care, because they are are aware it's still preseason, and know that their next season rank won't change much from now, so if they feel a game is going south at queue, or shortly after, they just throw. Like Season End, it's the perfect storm for negative records unless you have a reliable duo you can fight out with and tilt the so called tilted odds.

op.gg to screen your teams, and I'll bet you right now 4/5 of your games will have either someone who is unranked, or someone who is just ranked, but plummeting in scores like 33% wins because they were placed wrong.

The best time to play is mid season, because there are much fewer account starts, and people are actually trying to climb.

For the record: this account is in the wrong elo, and I drag games out 40 minutes, because even in this toxic environment, I usually can stall a game an extra 15-20 minutes until my team who was horrible either wins, or we lose a closer game. Just depends on how much my champ can carry, since I main support (Zyra can hard stall a game and carry, Nami can soft stall and carry, Sona can hard stall but soft carry, Morgana can soft stall and soft carry, Karma can hard stall, but soft carry (eventually gets pushed in).

Yeah, I have the same problem... every account I've ever played with was in the wrong Elo, except that one time I got to Challenger ;)

But on a serious note......

Sure: "Yeah, seriously, I have the same problem... every account I've ever played with was in the wrong Elo, except that one time I got to Challenger" (note: no smiley at the end)

We're all in the wrong elo. Just like all prisoners are innocent.

I know I am in the right ELO. I admittedly suck ass. Lol.

It's ALWAYS a coin toss... that is the whole idea of having fair teams :)

The reason it is currently so extreme is that I bet Riot is experimenting a little bit with how their MMR algorithm works... they are testing what happens if you increase the skill spread, what happens if you balance MMR vs. everybody has the same MMR etc. - so you see slightly more dramatic results.

Of course, there are also the people who don't get why preseason IS important... makes it worse.

Source on MMR changes?

Mephisto31 votes

Read my post: "I bet"... as I have said about 100 times, I DO NOT KNOW how the MMR system works, because Riot doesn't disclose anything. So there is no source.

Maybe I should have placed "I bet" at the start of the sentence, but English is not my first language, so be kind with me.

Was just trying to understand if you had a reason for thinking that.

Got it, fair enough. No :( I would love to have anything, but Riot doesn't want us to know...

Maybe. Although this situation is rather normal, given that it is still preseason.

That means:

  • Ranked at the moment is in "casual" mode - since the current rank does not matter too much, people are experimenting more and less ready to put in the concentration and effort to turn a losing game around.
  • Just two-and-a-half patches ago, there was a host of sweeping changes to the game, and the effects of that are still shaking down. One effect of that is that people's expectations of opponents' behaviour is thrown out of whack - and you might not know the proper way to react to an enemy's actions to contain the snowball.
  • There currently is no highly visible pro play, especially for the LCS level. As such, people have no anchor to follow in regard to champion choices, optimal picks and good strategy and counterstrategy. And the one tournament we had (Allstars) had nothing on the line beyond bragging rights and consisted of cobbled-together teams with no real synergy or in-depth tactical planning - some regions did not even scrim before the games!
  • Certain things may still be overtuned/undertuned. For instance, tank supports are running supreme right now due to being overcompensated for the rune changes - increasing their base Armor by 20 at level 1 might not have been the best course of action in hindsight (but hindsight is always 20/20).

What ELO are you playing at? I'm gold 5 currently and I'd say 80% of games are very close, mostly a competition of which team can throw the lead the worst.
