how do you play master yi top?

it cant be just simply max W and aa your enemy. are there cases where you put points into your E or Q early and only keep 2 points in W.

Depends on what you intend to do. If you want to do the scaling setup, yes it's max W and just farm under turret because you lose most matchups that isn't Kayle.

However, Yi's level 1 and 2 are very very strong and shouldn't be underestimated, so there is another trick where you play for levels 1-3 only and snowball from there. Take Hail of Blades and start long sword + 3 pots and Ignite. You want to kill your opponent within the first 3 levels, and many laners don't expect it because they never faced a Yi in lane before, and they generally underestimate him (for a good reason, he falls off hard after level 3). However, don't expect to be doing much if your opponent knows the matchup, this cheese basically exploits the fact that nobody ever laned against a Yi.

Ah yes, for the scaling setup, you would run conqueror.

HoB is for cheesing into a snowball. You run HoB because you HAVE to win this cheese or you basically throw your lane. Usually paired with lethality too because it spikes faster and you don't want to drag the game out. That said, I run this setup mid lane rather than top lane, you might have trouble with the tankier opponents at top.

actually with item 3181 you can maintain your attack speed. but yes i see the snowball outta the HOB setup.

If you must, try to use your Q in the early game to create a minion advantage and then force a trade when you have one. Later on, you'd probably be focused on split pushing side lanes.

add more minion count to increase your damage by minion numbers by using Q, cool. what happens if a freeze happens? not where you got a disadvantage its more of too close to enemy tower situation.

I'm not sure what you should do next because it really depends on the matchups. If you want to break a freeze, you can try to hard shove and let the lane reset... if the matchup allows you to. If their jungler shows bot, you can try to leave lane and steal one of the enemy's camps or at least drop a deep ward.
