Unfortunately now unless you're Bard, when playing support, you NEED XP quints. Which is freaking hilarious considering how bad they are. Literally nothing has changed.
I thought XP quints were a remnant from Season 1+2. A distant memory to remind us Riot's unwilling to rework the runes, and a nice newbie trap.
Although I disagree that you "NEED" XP quints, I do agree that the loss of Inspiration was a hard hit on supports. As a support main I am no stranger to being behind in levels but lately it has become absurd. I've had games (and seen other games) where the support is 3-4 level behind even their ADC. This is normally for support mains who like to roam (Me included and I'm kind of not roam much at all now so that I am only 1-2 levels behind). As it stands, it is punishment to roam as a support unless you get a successful gank off during your roam. You just lose way too much EXP when you are not constantly farming for exp.

do people actually use those?
Inspiration was a garbage noobtrap mastery. there were better things to expend your points on.
Riot could give support items extra XP when a champ with a higher lvl close to you also gets XP. It is not like they need to have it in a mastery, they just need to prevent others from abusing it on support items.
Thats why supps are always 2+ lvls behind everyone else. Support having 12 lvl when mid and top 18 is very common now.
It's not like it had any major impact to begin with.

actually to really helped if you were roaming. if you get forced out of lane as the support or laning phase ends early you generally end up roaming quite a bit as the support. For me if I end up playing thresh i roam mid quite a lot if my laners fine or we are shoved to get him a kill or i invade with my jungler, at this point im now 2 levels behind if nothing happened. previously i just had to sit in lane a little bit with my laner to catch up eventually but now...its just. ew.
Don't you naturally gain extra XP when lower leveled? It won't be as fast as before, the but mechanic still exists

That is based on time, level and minion deaths around you. thats why players joining late will level faster
That only works with Nid, and it is a very small amount.
You dont gain faster EXP, its just the EXP things give increases as the game goes on... I believe.
That's a reason why a mechanic along the lines of Inspiration would be desirable, but the effect of Inspiration was so slow as to be negligible. With full points in it, it would take over two minutes to get from zero experience to level 2.
Thats a minute a level that increaes by probably around 15 seconds each level. You guys don't seem to see the strength that 2 levels could hold.
No, you don't start level 0, you start level 1 ;) So it's two minutes per level.
And riot wonders why support is the most unfun to play as; maybe if they tried it themselves they'd realize being 4 levels behind is crippling.
Me I missed the intelligence mastery more. It gave me cool down and reduced item cool downs so it made spell thief and relics so much better
i still hate you for this riot
What is the inspiration mastery?

What is the inspiration mastery?
shit xp for standing close to an ally with higher lvl
Amen Ethereal
I abused the hell out of that when I was supporting for morde. It was great. He's always up a level, so I'm also always getting more xp.
But it was one of the few masteries that were really good for our Player-Created Games
(Draft Race)
You better be sorry...
#NeverForget
They increased the gold income for the lowest earning player on the team.
We should get it back in the second row of the middle tree. Some supports don't really need anything from there.
