I'm starting to wish Riot would just kill URF

VoraciousX··28 votes·10,737 views

Playing constant URF games just so I can have one sliver of hope of getting a champion I want and being disappointed over and over is true suffering. Just delete the game mode if you don't want us to choose champions. I'd much rather not have URF at all than be forced to play miserable game after miserable game trying to get a champion I might enjoy playing only to be met with the likes of Taric, Anivia, Morgana and such.

If you don't like ARURF.... don't play it. Not that hard, really.

It's not that easy when you want to play URF(with new champions/champions who have been changed) but can't due to getting shit like Anivia or Khazix. I don't think I've even gotten to play AP Jarvan in URF since the first time they did ARURF. Pretty sure I haven't even gotten to play Kat's rework in URF, although I can't be sure of that. I'm 99% sure the only reason people play it is just to have the hope to play a certain champion, and I can almost guarantee some don't even get to try the champion they want to try.

They killed normal URF because whenever they ran it, the number of LoL players dropped. Something about it makes people quit and not come back. They found this happens less (though it still happens) with ARURF, so they run that because they know so many people want it. Just read the dev blogs man. They tell you why they do shit.

Very stupid argument indeed,he doesn't like it cause its random not cause of the mode itself, and a lot of people are begging for the mode not to be random but to have a ban phase like one for all does.

So you're basically saying, I know the game mode can be better, but i'm playing this shitty version of it and if you don't like this shitty version of it don't complain and ask for a much better, previous version, that can be even better with bans.

Terozu1 votes

But youre saying "I dont like this iteration so no one should be allowed to play."

HàrrowR1 votes

Im not saying that,im not the OP,all im saying is that "If you don't like it don't play" is a stupid argument when a lot of players are unsatisfied with the ARURF not Urf itself. If he argued about the benefits of it being all random,or why he personally likes it more, then it would make more sense, all he's saying is shut up and don't question anything.

I wish they would just delete league but they wouldnt do that as people are happy to had over money

They did kill URF, that's what this is. And if anyone liked the original URF, I guess you can go fuck yourselves because it doesn't seem there is a chance of it coming back.

Raoul5 votes

Well, you can thank the tryhards, who only picked only the most broken champions every game before URF became All random

remakoro3 votes

What so bad about that? Its fun mode. Let people enjoy playing broken shit. And they disabling most OP/irritating shit for that mode every fucking time.

Feed or Famine2 votes

That's the point, it's supposed to be a fun mode, but people were killing the fun by only picking the same OP champs every game.

HàrrowR3 votes

There's this thing call ban, especially now that everyone gets a ban,10 champs banned per game, plus the ones Rito auto disables like Karthus, and you can get yourself a pretty decent game.

No that makes too much sense, they HAVE to play

Lauchmelder3 votes

I really like this response, cause this is the exact words people who hated URF due to people only picking the same damn picks every damn game got when they said that normal URF was boring and unenjoyable.

Warlord Rhinark4 votes

It just adds insult to injury when Clash was ended prematurely and now we can't enjoy the substitute for it either because it isn't the version we like.

Three things I have to say about this:

  1. Yes, it's annoying as fck when you get a champ who is bad in urf and you need to lane vs a perma-spamming riven
  2. Imo before remove the randomness I would like to have a few champs just removed from this mod like in the game 1 for all Karthus is banned.
  3. I enjoy this mode more than 1 for all where ppl just constantly overvote you and you habe to play 3 times Blitzkrank and 2 times boring Heimerdonger. AR at least gives you more variety

In 1 for all you also have the chance to get ur champ. Also if u play with friends you can get what u want ez.

The "don't like it, don't play it" responses seem to miss the crux of the post.

OP (and others) COULD like it if they got a good champ, that's why they keep playing. ARURF just gates the fun of urf behind RNG and it's the worst

My point exactly. Although it's not so much about "GOOD champ" as it is "fun champ". If I got Jarvan I would be happy playing AP Jarvan. It's one of the fun things about URF that I love, experimenting with different builds that aren't meta in normal game modes, because you have no mana costs, you can skip that Luden's Echo, or Rod of Ages, or whatever and go straight for practically any item you think will be useful for a champion. Early game stomps aren't usually an issue because you can spam abilities, so if you have a long cooldown ability with a high AP Ratio but all your other ratios are AD, you don't have to worry because that cooldown is basically down to 2 seconds. Although now that I think about it since Luden's Echo has been cucked time and time again and NOW made into a friggin mana item, it might just not be good in URF on Jarvan anymore.

I don't understand why we can't HAVE BOTH URF AND ARURF TO FULFIL EVERYONES DESIRE to play this game mode. It's not like League has a limited player base and will suffer because we get to chose to play whatever urf we want every 6 months.

They claim that URF caused players to leave due to being so burnt out from it. They would play a LOT of it for a while, then burn themselves out and quit playing League altogether. The "ARURF"(which should be renamed to PRURF,Pseudo-Random URF) makes people play it constantly being unsatisfied until they get a champion they want, in which case a lot of people never get, so they never really "get burnt out" on it because they can't choose what they play. They're forced to go with terrible option after terrible option in the hopes of getting what they really want to experiment with. In my opinion this is why URF should either just die, or they could give URF for ONE DAY every so often. But of course Riot never thought about actually SHORTENING URF to the point where people don't get burnt out, instead of just giving us a tiring and unfun experience.

So because you dont like it noone should get to play it.

Yeah that makes sense.

I honestly don't think anyone actually LIKES ARURF. They just play it because they hope to get a champion they will enjoy playing and the one time they do they'll be happy, but every other time they're likely to be quite miserable. ARURF is basically like loot boxes.

Terozu1 votes

Actually i like random, it lets me see what champs are really fun and when you get your main its a fun jack pot. Some people like lotteries. A lot of people do in fact. Gacha games are popular for a reason.

You can usually know what'll be fun or not based on the champion it is. Problem is you can get a really fun champion and then not even be able to play the game because someone got something that stomps you. The problem is it's pseudo random and you get the same champions quite often, in fact most of the time. It's not even REALLY random.

I know why they killed normal URF. They even said the reasons for people quitting, or their theory anyways, which makes sense. People quit because they got burnt out. They would play a shitton the first day, and get tired of it and quit completely. Thing is Riot didn't think that they might be able to possibly reduce the burnout by lowering the time it was available instead of just giving us something that feels terrible.

Terozu1 votes

It is pseudo random. Champs determined to be most fun in the mode are more likely.

But there is no champ that is not fun in Urf. If you have to play a specific champ to have fun in Urf, Urf was never for you. And also, never play Ultimate Glory.

Also that last part isnt true. Why do you think the complaint was that its never here and always brief?

URF has nothing to do with playing ANY champion and having fun. URF was always about the fact that there are low cooldowns and no mana costs and more attack speed than normal. If playing ANY champion was the fun part of it, people wouldn't complain about ARURF at all. Morgana is boring as all hell with ARURF because it's so incredibly easy to destroy someone with Morgana. Nami isn't fun because she basically has no waveclear and it's hard to actually get much use out of her, outside of her ultimate due to all the mobility in URF with the low cooldowns, Xin Zhao isn't fun because he's basically all about right clicking someone to death and his dash is targeted, making him an easy target. Corki isn't fun because he's Corki, Riven isn't fun(although a lot of people probably disagree on this one, as do they with Morgana), because she is exactly what people claim she is outside URF. You literally just faceroll the keyboard with her.

AP Jarvan, AP Shaco, trying new champions and ones who have been reworked, full attack speed Jhin, full AP Malphite(although this one is much more viable in normal games and also not quite as fun as the others imo), on-hit TF. THESE are the things that are fun about URF because they are much harder to actually get to work in a normal game, while in URF they're all completely viable. Problem is, we can't CHOOSE to do these things because it's pseudo random. I'm sorry if I find Caitlyn, Xin Zhao, Morgana, and most META champions boring in URF, because there's literally nothing fun about them, you just permastun someone until they die.

As for the last thing you said, that WAS true. They said that people got burnt out from it. They'd have a lot of games when it first came out, and then it would suddenly fizzle out, and people would stop playing. There are complaints that it's not here often, but I don't think there were ever complaints when it was taken down. At least not that many.

On the other hand, I wouldn't mind if Riot kept the dodge penalty being removed if they were to keep ARURF up. I still end up going through like 30 dodges before I find a champion that will be fun(especially considering I keep getting the same champions over and over and over), but at least I don't have to play all 30 of those games.

URF would be a better game mode if they removed certain highly oppressive champions

Fizz Sivir Shaco are just a few (There's more)

Hold on, you don't like Morgana in Urf? You can practically permabind someone!

She's extremely boring in URF. She isn't that amazingly fun in normal games either, but in URF it's just unsatisfying. Her permabinding is the reason she's unfun.

{quoted}

Honestly if you look for it, there are counters to everything. AP Shaco isn't broken honestly, he CAN lose, although he does have things in his favor. The thing people don't seem to realize is that he plays completely differently from normal Shaco. He wants you to chase him, rather than chase down enemies. You could pick long range poke vs him and do fine, because you wouldn't be trying to chase him into boxes. Sweeper also works. This is just one example of a counterpick to a URF meta champion.

if urf wouldn't snowball out of control so fast, it might be fun on all champions
