So can someone explain this to me?
Ok. So. Malzahar. I'd make an aids joke if it wasn't so overused. I posed the question of cleanse vs malz ult a little while ago to some of my friends. After a test run, we came to the conclusion that cleanse does a grand total of jack squat. After asking around the general conclusion regarding cleanse working similarly to QSS, which only removes the suppression and doesn't stop the mass damage, is that it would be too unfair against malzahar. First of all, I straight-up disagree with this, for a couple of reasons. First of all, as I stated before, It simply removes the suppression while leaving the damage intact, which says very little as the DOT thanks to his ult, space aids,
, and deathfire touch, with ignite on top of that, you are still most likely going to die, unless you're a tank. You could argue that cleanse would be unfair for warwick, whose only CC is his ult, but I think that stands to say that warwick simply needs a rework.
On top of that, this difference in possibility of use here is either unfair to the player or simply sloppy work on Riot's part. If it's purposeful, riot is actively lying to players, which tbh, can be deciding factors in games if a player takes cleanse against someone like malz, only to find out they basically wasted a summoner spell on a laner that its nearly entirely unaffective against. If it's sloppy, well, riot's simply being sloppy and not keeping their technical mechanics together. Cleanse and malz have both existed for quite some time, so I imagine this has come up before. Is a tooltip change really all that much to ask?
I won't lie. I'm a little salty cause I had this very experience not too long ago, but I feel like my complaints are at least semi-justified. Feel free to reply with comments on the issue. I welcome them, as I'd like to see some other people's opinions.
