According to the wiki, only the last assisting ally will receive 'Your Cut'. This is not photoshopped or tampered in any way, I chose to end the game with the item in my inventory in order to post this.

DerMangoJoghurt7 votesIf I understand it correctly, even if Pyke doesn't get the kill, as long as an enemy dies within his ult the last supporting ally gets the item, possibly even Pyke himself.
Umbral Regent1 votesYup. When an enemy dies inside the X for whatever reason, the last ally to assist receives 'Your Cut' - if someone else happens to get the kill before Pyke crashes down with Death From Below, Pyke himself claims the bonus kill gold.

So when pyke gets the assist he gets the gold for a kill as well (just like the assisting ally if he secures w/ ult)? this is what i assumed was happening

Regulas2 votesNo because the subject is yourself in that case. The subject in the ult wording is the kill, thus ally of the kill. Subject in your own death is yourself so not ally.
It's still very unclear choice but still.

Deez Crits1 votesI think you're interpreting the ability wrong or not aware of what is occurring. Directly from that Wiki page that you linked:
" If an enemy champion dies in the X, the last assisting ally is granted full kill gold"
When Pyke casts his ultimate, the X appears instantly. However, the damage instance doesn't go through immediately. Thus, sometimes you can cast your ultimate and your ally lands the killing blow before 'Death From Below' hits.
Your ally is the killer and the last assisting ally would be you in that case. The term ally for the sake of the tooltip is from the perspective of whoever got the killing blow, not necessarily Pyke.
