I love building ER, then fire cannon, then ie, then whatever. But everyone tells me to build ghostblade/cleaver. Can someone explain why? Why is that build better then the other exactly? Instead of just saying its better itd help me if someone can actually explain why.
Votable Jester2 votesYoumuu's Ghostblade gives great early armor penetration, and the active can make you win trades, chase enemies down, and hit with all of your ult fairly easily. The cdr also helps with Lucian's spell slinging, especially when paired with... The Black Cleaver gives 20% cdr, allowing even more spell slinging. The armor shred passive also pairs well with Lucian's ult, to nearly instantly destroy an enemy's armor. This also combos well with the flat armor penetration of Ghostblade. The rage passive also helps a tiny bit with kiting and chasing.
The two items synergize with his kit extremely well, and give Lucian an incredibly powerful mid-game. His late game takes a small hit, but he'll still burst down the squishies all game while easily kiting enemy tanks/fighters/juggernauts.
Modl Ryden l1 votesI was in the same boat as you pal. Recently I've discovered that in like 15 seconds you can recover a good chunk of mana with just ocean drake. Plus really, you only needed your E to kite people coming after you which at rank 5 has a 0 mana cost.
Mowing down players with cull w/ black cleaver is fun too.

Depárt1 votesLearn to manage your mana a bit better and you wont have to rely on er, ghostblade + cleaver is generally much better for the meta (a lot of early and mid game focus) while crit scales towards late game and generally requires you to be lucky to get your best damage output.
Ghostblade cleaver puts out similar damage to crit builds while being totally reliable and also allowing you to shred tanks for yourself and any ad teammates.
EvilMerodach1 votesBlack cleaver prolly cause of synergy with his passive, pretty sure it double procs. Item is fairly good even without that, so it just pushes it up into core build area. Ghostblade cause speed boost stacts with his own speed boost, making it almost impossible to run away from him during the active/while he's procing his mark thang.

five oh tree 1 votesghostblade+cleaver is the early game build. Your critbuild is made for late game. Right now, we're playing the League of Snowballs, which is focused on early game dominance. That's why everyone thinks Ghostblade/BC is better. After ~40 minutes, Crit build has higher damage output, but... when do games actually reach that time these days?
