Who do you hate more as a support?

ADCS that are way too passive or ADCS that are way to aggressive?

Personally I hate really passive ones, because then I just sit back there harassing and it gets kind of boring, I don't like my adc being way too aggressive either but I prefer that over the passive ones.

There's tower diving, and then there's feeding...

Yeah here's a good example, I'm Morgana I just cast q and w, and put my shield on my adc, and my adc goes in a bit then falls back and starts focusing the support instead of the enemy adc, and I'm like why????? Or I'm Thresh I q, then q again e, drop my w, and hit my ult and my adc, just stands back there leaving me to fight a 2 v 1.....:( or I'm soraka my adc and enemy adc are duking it out and my adc backsout and runs and I'm like you know I have heals right?

Or THEIR support is a Braum, and they focus the adc when he's in auto attack range.

Personally feeding doesn't happen very much for me, I'm not the best support but I say I do a decent job or protecting my adc, but when my adc is too passive I feel it limits my potential to make plays it's start making me the target focus and as a support you want that, but if your adc isn't fighting back at them, it's well sucks.

Simple answer: Too passive doesn't get you killed. Too aggressive does. I'd rather have an ADC who's guaranteed safety than an ADC who's risking safety. Or in other words I'd rather have a guaranteed 0/0/0 ADC than a possible 10/0 or 0/10.

Yes I think it highly depends on the support though, like as a thresh I get a q, and i pull in and i toss my lantern to you, your ass better be following up, if I'm soraka with low health, don't engage unless you know you can get out. So I guess it just depends a lot of the times.

Preferably everyone is 'opportunistic', but if I had to choose between 'only' passive or 'only' aggressive it'd still be 'only' passive

The problem with too passive is if you are like Thresh, Morgana you are looking for a snare, a stun something to break out of the stage, if you hit one and follow up, you are all in at this moment and if your adc doesn't react fast enough, you as a support end up fighting a 2 v 1 fight and you end up just feeding the enemy.

Anastaecia2 votes

I would say 95% of the time when I get a problem adc, it's over aggressive...and it's just them going in when I am low in mana or something and they get killed. It sucks, but that 1 game in 20 where the adc does NOTHING but farm, even when the jg comes to gank...it's like WTF. Go practice csing in a training game.

As an adc I'm curious what you would define as overly aggressive or overly passive for an adc?

Schenix1 votes
  • Harassing and Counter-harassing
  • Utilizing enemy cooldowns to literally press the attack
  • Instantly following up on a play or starting one of their own accord
  • Heal in any 2v2 to be blown in an offensive scenario or turn over a defensive one with no turn
  • Being confident in their ability to outplay one major form of CC (i.e. Thresh pull) and staying engaged

Or the jungler that thinks oh bot lane is ahead i don't need to gank that lane, or comes over to try stealing the kill from our adc only to get themselves killed from over pursuing, those junglers I fucking hate then turn around and say why didn't you follow me, with my response, "Because I'm not a moron?"

Overly aggressive diving flash trying to kill someone even though they're going to die. Or pushing without a ward in the river........going ham right away not csing and just outright trying to kill them everytime they're in lane......Too passive is like what I'm running into a lot of, I'm thresh I'm harassing the fuck out of the enemy adc, then I get a q off I drop my lantern on adc, and pull myself in, my adc doesn't grab the lantern and I end up pulling myself into a 2 v 1 situation just sucks. Or not trading at all, especially if you are like ashe against a jinx, and that ashe isn't hitting jinx every now and then keeping her honest and instead she pushes the wave really hard and my adc can't cs under tower well. Makes me just sitting there hoping they're stupid enough to try tower diving us but usually doesn't happen.

Der Lindwurm2 votes

Too passive is definitely a problem, especially when you don't yet realize how passive they are but go in for that first risky engage. And sometimes all you can do is shrug and let the enemy claim that first tower when your ADC just keeps getting poked out of lane over and over again and doesn't fight back. But too stupidly aggressive is far worse. They leave you more open to ganks, they ignore the map and pings, they feed the enemy ADC kills when they dive at level 2, they blame you every time they die in a fire, and later in the game they tend to try to solo carry rather than grouping and coordinating with the team.

RenownedWheat421 votes

I'm a hyper aggressive support, so I prefer an ADC who can match me on that. I don't like it when all they want to do is sit under tower till the wave gets pushed to us and farm, that shit's boring and we have no room to make plays.

I play aggro Taric, so I like ADCs that go aggressive with me.

I want adc's that are as aggressive as me but still listen to my pings when i think it's better to chill for a minute, but long as they aren't dumb enough to tower dive while the enemy adc still has heal i don't mind.

Passive adc players annoy me to no end, they don't trade at all when the support is the one they are focusing on and always gives up the level 2 advantage race cause all they want to do is last hit like a coward because they think "We will win 100% when i reach late game", and don't get me started on how they never use heal till AFTER you been ignited or a second after you die.

If i get a passive adc i will leave lane as soon as i hit level 4-6 to do something productive with the rest of my team instead of slowly losing the game cause my adc has no balls to do anything.

I hate when an adc doesn't trade, like I'm an adc main, and I take every chance to trade if I notice my support is aggressive I'm being aggressive to and getting in position to follow up or take advantage of my support denying them farm.

If my support is passive, it's okay that's fine, I'll last hit and wait for a jungle gank, or catch them out of position but regardless I'm still trading and my eyes are always watching my ward in the river for that jungle gank. I don't like being force back to my tower as a support it's the worst........push push push is what I'm telling my adc, hit them they aren't going to retaliate if they do they going to get hit harder. Or worst when my support backs out of a fight before I do as an adc. When I'm support I'm ready to lay down my life, of course there are special circumstances, but it's trust and when you playing bot lane you have to trust your partner, and I'm not seeing that a lot, either as a support the adc not matching my aggressiveness, or as an adc and a support being too pussy and not harassing at all.

meowwow71 votes

depends on match ups if i'm a taric with a lucian against a squishy lux and ashe then it's being too passive but if it's something like janna and vayne against a lucian and braum then it's too agressive

chipndip11 votes

This is a decent question, but the possible answers are lacking. It SHOULD be:

  • Your jungler, who'll never help bot lane no matter the circumstances.

  • Your jungler, who'll blame bot lane for losing no matter the circumstances.

  • Your adc, who doesn't realize he's not nearly as strong as he thinks he is without you around as he throws away the lead you worked to give him.

  • Your adc, who'll find SOME FUCKING WAY to die no matter how much you try to baby them through their shitty decisions.

Why put in the jungler in all this? Well, since bot lane's usually a party city, anyway, the jungler's just as important to my success as the moron I'm tasked with protecting through lane phase, so when my jungler's ALSO a moron, I just auto-lose if the enemy jungler isn't. I gotta say, it's a coin flip. Tough call, really.

Kythers1 votes

both, though it's more like ADCs that expect impossible things from you (too aggro) and ADCs that do not follow up on your plays (too passive)

creatureplex1 votes

The worst is when you are a support and for some reason the team either thinks A, I'm like some God player that can make the right calls every game like this is my smurf account and I'm really a LCS player, or B supports are useless, oh Soraka has a heal that's fine I'm Master Yi I'll just go into a 1 v 5 underfed then bitch, Soraka why no heal???? Oh well maybe because I had no interest in giving their team 2 kills.......

I don't blame them for playing passive if they picked a champion that is better played that way. That said I very much prefer laning with skillshot ADCs who have strong poke or combo potential when the enemy commits or I land a stun. Jhin, Sivir, Cait, (AD) Varus and Jinx are some of my favorites to lane with.

Well there is that but at the same time, any adc can be somewhat aggressive with the right support. I main ashe and I can win a lane with any type of support as long as they aren't retarded, but i prefer supports that are aggressive for 2 reasons, it puts pressure on the enemy, lets me farm safely and can easily secure me kills. Ashe is known as a passive type adc, but when she's in the right position depending on the support man she's a fucking bitch to deal with, but it also depends on which support you pair with your adc, like ashe, Morgana forget about it great synergy, but ashe and soraka, soraka is almost useless in this fight cuz ashe gots range advantage over most adcs, she's not really worry about the heals that much but soraka isn't going to net her a shit ton of kills either.

Krigjer1 votes

I prefer adcs that can adjust to a lane. I like when they're smart enough to know when to farm and patiently wait for a gank, and when they realize how easily we can bully the opponents and take advantage of that.

I do have to say that I hate when adcs auto the minions when we have our jungler waiting in fog of war for a prime opportunity to engage. Stop pushing! Let them come to us!

Reaper Soraka1 votes

idk.. I play very aggressive so if they can effectively farm passively I'm fine with it. If they can provide some poke while maintaining cs I'm fine with it as well.

On the other hand if they try to be aggressive and can't cs... that bugs me. Don't tunnel vision harassing them with me, I'm doing it so you can farm.

You do realize that as a support you aren't supposed to be trying to get the kills right that's not your job....

Well. Even I disagree a bit I am sorry that I did not wrote clearly what I meant. I poke and a decent adc can collect kills. I had a bunch of adc´s beneath wich could even not wait that I am lv2 or lv3. They began to trade at lv1 and were half life before I got my w-plants or my cc. An adc wich can wait me poking and just farm safe until vs are low has a nice lane.

Even I know that other players have another playstyle. Leagueofgraphs told me that I am a "safe laner" because I have only 0.56 deaths within first 10 minutes. ^^ Well. It´s about playstyle. I am not after kills. ADC can do it - if he does. I don´t care but if I am not sure I kill secure.

Worst Kench NA1 votes

I prefer a passive ADC. I play mostly spellthief-using supports, so it's up to them if they want to go in on my pokes or not. I'm still getting gold either way by poking them.
