This highlight compilation video exemplifies how there's just far too much damage in this game.
The video from Synapse shows many examples of how high damage in this game has gotten. These examples often times includes people who are not even fed and will use basic abilities or abuse items that have passives with far too high of bonus damage on champions (Shiv, Duskblade, the Hydras, Hextech Items, etc) in order to just one shot whoever gets in range of them. Repeatedly in the Video you'll see the lethality items be a case of this, as well as AD items in general or champions who have enough base damage to abuse the Hextech Revolver passive and not need the AP scaling portion.
Please Riot, thousands if not millions of more examples could be produced just by going over recordings in the games. It's even seen in the meta where players will use Support item actives (which are currently well overtuned to where any tank will build them) to withstand the one-shot potential of champions then use the over-tuned sustain to bring themself back to full health in a few auto attacks. The game has gone from one of fights full of opportunity for outplay on both sides to see who the better player is, to just seeing who can one-shot the other first which often times ends up being whoever happens to have the higher range of threat.
Hell, take a look at this. The timestamp will bring you to a play where a Graves with 297 AD deals 926 physical damage to a Vayne in one basic attack. ONE BASIC ATTACK THAT WASN'T EVEN A CRIT. That whole situation would never happen without the abuse of the Duskblade passive.
Now, I'm not asking to nerf specifically damage items and damage of carries, because then it would be a tank meta. It would be nice to see damage across the board (base damage, damage scalings, passive damage from items, etc.) be nerfed across the board for the whole of the game so that it's not a one shot competition or a competition for the most shield stacking. Make it so it takes at least a bit longer for people to be dying when on equal playing grounds. And no I don't mean what you did with assassins where the damage is still there just delayed, because then it makes the undelayed damage be better. Assassins would probably be in a tight spot when it comes to teamfights, sure, but their emphasis on super mobile duelists could then be drawn out rather than super mobile gonna one-shot an enemy through their own team then just die trope, because honestly that's quite odd to make a class's design be to one shot a certain target then die.
Edit: seems like people think I'm talking about Assassin damage. I'm talking about all damage in the game in general. Also, people are pointing out the poor examples involving fed champs or high level differences, I'm not referring to those. I'm referring to the ones with a 1-2 level difference or the one with a 1/5/1 Zed one shotting a Jayce who is a level above Zed, with Zed only using basic abilities.
