Seriously? Had a 37% winrate player in my match yesterday(?)

He started in champ select saying some crap about getting auto filled jungle --> went tryndamere 0-4 top LOL what a surprise.

Did you mean provisionals? Because promotionnels are best of 3 or 5 to move up a rank

If you were bronze last season you can win all 10 games 50/0/0 in 10 min. and you would still be placed bronze. The way the system works is that you cannot place higher than your previous season's rank

It is impossible for everyone at any rank to have over 50% win rate. Math doesn't work that way. If someone has a 60% win rate that means someone else must have below 50% win rate. This is actually skewed to be worse than that. Typically people with high win rates are prone to play more so you could have someone with a record of 200-150 on a single person and then 3 people who are all 20-30 from being matched together. I'm betting that there are a fair bit more players with below 50% win rate than with above 50% win rate.

As an extreme example, you have 18 people who play 100 games with each other. 2 of them are duo queue and they have 100% win rate with together. The other 16 only play half as many games because it isn't as fun to lose as it is to win.

In 100 games there are 500 wins possible and 500 losses possible between the 18 players.

2 of them hog 200 wins for themselves and take 0 losses leaving 300 wins and 500 losses for the other 16. This means that the other 16 will average a ratio of about 19/31. 16 people have a win rate of 38% and 2 have a win rate of 100%. The average win rate between all the players becomes 45% and not 50%.
