Is top lane ever going to be balanced to not require a 2v1 for any sort of recovery?

9/10 times, top lane becomes unrecoverable if you fall behind, without jungle intervention. The nature of the champions that go there doesn't allow for counter play.

For example, I just had my jungle walk into the lane, miss everything, and give first blood to Darius. I'm playing Mundo, so I just farm safely, knowing that Darius is ahead. And then we hit 6, and he goes ball to the wall with Flash and Ghost, we both trade a kill. I'm 1-1 and he's 2-1. He suicided to get that kill on me, knowing that it would push him over the edge. The lane is now over. He's too far ahead for me to do anything about. As soon as his Ghost comes up, he pops it and kills me from 100% health. As soon as his Flash is up, he flashes, grabs me, and kills me from 100% health. His Ghost comes back up, and he dives me under my tower from 100% health. There's nothing I can do to prevent any of this, without my jungle's intervention.

In this case, I did nothing wrong, but my jungle gave him a kill and it pushed the lane into an unrecoverable state. This is dumb and not healthy for the game. This exact situation happens to almost every top champions if they fall behind.

wouldn't he have the same gold and xp lead at 2-1 while you're 1-1 as he did when he was 1-0 and you were 0-0?

No, my minion wave was bigger and after being behind on first blood, I have to play defensively and give up some CS to avoid him going all in on me.

It also gave him enough gold to finish his item. He got some extra gold and denied me some CS and EXP at the same time.

Do you play top much? If so....how come you never posted this after the times it was you ahead of the other top lane and it was them in the "unrecoverable state."

So you want to actually win a fight when the enemy has the advantage over you? This won't happen in any lane. You either outplay your enemy or you get some extra muscle to help you with him.

It doesn't help that the match up wasn't really in your favor. Mundo is a stat check champion, you either get ahead and bash people with your numbers or you get behind and turns into a glorified slow bot until mid game.

I want the lane to not be a complete stomp with no chance for counter-itemization or out-playing the opponent if one gets ahead. With the design of most champions played top, there is no out-play. The one with the advantage wins with no counter play in most match ups. Most top champions being bruisers/juggernauts allows them to turn their advantage into successful tower dives from 100%.

This isn't true for either mid or bottom. At worst, you can itemize against the enemy. No itemization fixes top lane.

Darius Can have his Q and E baited. One can engage at will then. Chogath Dodge his Q. Engage after he Ults a minion. Ekko Dodge his poke. Don't fight him when his shield is up, just disengage and let the shield's mana go to waste. DrMundo Stat check. Dodge his Q and ask for a gank if you can't 1v1 him. If you can 1v1 him at any given point, you will be able to do it for the rest of the game. Gangplank Bait/Dodge his barrels. Also helps to engage right after his passive is gone. Garen Constant poke prevents him from healing. He's all melee, punish him. Gnar All in right after he becomes Mini again. item 3009 help you with his slow and make you a bit less kitable. Illaoi Clear the tentacles before going in. If she pulls your soul, go ham on her if you can 1v1 her. Dodge the tentacles. Irelia Better nerf her. No seriously, I have no idea on how to counter her without being a simple stat check match. Jayce Dodge his giant ball of doom. Kled Put Skaarl down. After that Kled is easily one shotable. Nasus Deny his farm with any top laner. Punish his team for having an afk farming top. Pantheon Both sustain and armor make him weak. Also, champions who want to all in will have a field day against Panth. Poppy Avoid walls, don't dash when she puts the golden thingie around, win the trade. Renekton Play around his fury. Riven All in champions should have a field day. Tanky champions should not have a problem either. Rumble Play around his heat. Use minions or dodge his harpoons. Ryze Get into melee. Shen Unless you make a serious mistake, you win the lane by default againt a Shen with most top laners. CC him to preventhis Ult. Singed He's melee and has to walk right into the middle of your minion wave to be able to farm. He's more annoying than strong. Sion Farm machine. Dodge his Q/E/r, bait his shield. Options on how to outplay a Top Sion are endless. TahmKench Don't allow him to eat you. He has a pretty short range and his ranged poke is blocked by minions. Poke him down if you can't all in him. His heal is not that big early on. Trundle Kite, kite and kite. Ap champions and poke champions should also do really well. Urgot Dodge his E, be aware of ganks. Vladimir Play around his empowered Q. Build item 3123. Volibear Full melee, poke him down. Yorick There is no counter. Except for the fact that his numbers are gutted.

Damn, this took a while.

I get what you are saying but thats not exactly true........I've had many games with Voli and Garen where the enemy jungler would come to try to gank and dive me and i would kill them both. So it is possible to win a fight when the enemy has a advantage.

TequilaZombie1 votes

It is possible, that is in the outplay department.

By the way, by diving you mean tower diving? Because it's not that hard to get a double when the enemy tower dives you.

At that point the lane was not over. You fail to realize you dont have to "win" the lane.........all you have to do is not lose it.

You are a Mundo......if you dont think you can beat him in a 1 v 1 fight then all you had to do is keep farming under tower.......You can throw and hit him from a distance.,......he can not....there is no way he can dive you and kill you unless you were playing unsafe and near him enough for him to do damage to you to get you low before you dived you.

And having jungler intervention is not a bad thing....thats what their job is.......TO GANK........unless the jungler just couldnt make it to a lane...ALL LANES become a 2v1 or 3v2 at some point.
