Doran's Blade's and Ring's passives are stackable - Why not the new Doran's Shield's too?

When you are behind or in need of early game power to keep up with your enemy, stacking several Doran's Blades and Doran's Rings can be very efficient.

A midlaner with several Doran's Rings will be able to spam a lot of abilities in lane to either outpush or outpoke his enemy, I even remember the 2-3 Doran's Ring combination being called "The Beggar's Rod of Ages" because it would be exactly that in the early game - a combination of health, mana and AP.

Same with Doran's Blades. Stacking several of these alongside a bunch of long swords will give you a shitton of raw AD and HP in the early game to outtrade your opponent - or go even if he is a lane bully or ahead of you. Not only that, the life steal will also allow you to regenerate the HP that you just lost by trading the enemy by simply farming minions, to get an edge on your enemy laner.

But stacking these items without you making proper use of them in the early game or the enemy simply denying you the ability to do so will make them less and less efficient in the mid-to lategame, because they will delay your full item power spikes and crowd your inventory.

And while I really like the new reworked Doran's Ring on the PBE ( http://www.surrenderat20.net/2017/02/223-pbe-update.html ), which will now finally fulfill its role as an early game item for tanks or just champions who don't want to or can't trade the enemy to just survive the laning phase, I think it's somewhat odd that it doesn't stack aswell. Let's say I'm a Darius into Quinn, getting outranged constantly and in desperate need to survive the laning phase and preserve the early game power that Darius is known for, being able to only buy one Doran's Shield and having to buy Doran's Blades afterwards is just kind of meh. Darius into Quinn is just one of these examples - there are many more.

At the same time, it would also be a great way to nerf Quinn, Jayce and many others ( if the lethality changes didn't do that enough already - we will have to wait for reliable data to develop later this patch ) without having to directly nerf them and risking that they get Sejuani'd.

Because stacking 400%/600% HP regen for 10 seconds is a little much for 900g/1350g. Pretty sure people in like poke lanes would just buy 3, and then be a Dr Mundo ultimate whenever you touch them. They'd have to nerf the regen a lot to make it stackable.

In that regard then why not % descaling stacking? Each doran's shield purchased after the first provides half the previously purchased passive, i. e. Doran's shield 1 = 100% passive, Doran's shield 2 = 50% passive and so forth.

A way to stack it but not abuse it. Just a thought.

It is a thought. Personally, I think it is good as it is, and kind of discourages just stacking the items instead of components towards other end game items. Idk, it's an interesting idea, but the numbers would need to be different ya.

There are also the grievous wounds items. Plus, Singed gets a similar amount of regen out of his multiple Dark Seal + Corrupting Pot build and he's arguably pretty balanced.

Yeah, Grievous wounds items are a thing if you are AD, and for Singed, that only works for 3 pots and he has to back. In the End, it's a stronger passive than on item 3211.

Singed does not even compare because Singed is limited by the charges on his potions - if you could stack 600% HP regen from getting poked, you could infinitely outlast the other laner because your self healing would fly through the roof every time they hurt you, without the need for any kind of limit or consumable. I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in saying that I'd rather early game Riven or Yasuo not be more efficient at never having to back because of their lack of reliance on resources other than HP. Having that much stacking HP regen without investing loads of money into it would absolutely destroy the early game in top lane.

Yasuo and Riven are extremely reliant on offensive stats to be efficient. On top of the fact that their base regen isn't really top-notch, especially Riven with about the 4th to 5th worst base regen in the game.

If it would be OP then probably on champions who don't rely on offensive stats as much and are really vulnerable to getting bullied in lane in certain matchups, on top of having a good base regen. Darius, Sion, Illaoi, Mundo and Nasus come to mind.

New Doran's shield should not stack. Too much regen and forces itemization just to stop a cheap item path.

Though I think the new shield is pretty OP in PBE. Once they buy a cowl vs magic damage. They become immovable unless you hard engage them which a lot of magic top lanes lack.
