What are good supports to carry ranked with? I get that support isn't a carry role, but I want champions that can win lane often.

Hi, carry ranked as support is strong word, but you can be a major factor. First of all avoid squishy off pick AP supports like Brand, yes it work, but you need something more reliable. Supports are very flexible, if your tank lacks a tank you have the option to pick one, if the team lacks AP damage, there are some offensive supports which can contribute good damage aswell, but most importantly pick your support according your lane opponents and partner. Its important to know which ones work best in conjunction with the given adc. Overall good tank supports are Leona and Braum. Good offensive supports are Karma, Zyra, Morgana in certain situation and Sona, but she is very squishy and window for mistakes is wide. I wouldnt recommend Nami as she is very skill shot reliant. Thresh is awesome utility support, which can alo be quite tanky, but he is also skill shot oriented. Blitzcrank is op in the right hands, he can pose a great pressure in the game, but he is very centered around his grab and if you land it. Soraka and her heals are currently pretty op, she can offer harrassment, incredible lane sustain and global map presence with her ult. Janna is a great defensive utility support, she can make assassins life a pain and she is incredible at disengage when things go really bad. To give you more specific tips, i need to know which type of support you are going to place, but as general never just stand behind your carry and expect thats enough. You gotta be in line with him and ready to answer the enemy, or follow your team. As offensive supp you should harrass the enemy and make it harder for him to farm. Essentially look when creep is low hp and use the moment when he is last hitting to drop a spell. As tank and even regular supports you should try to keep your opponents attention on you, when its not to deadly ofc, this will let your carry to deal alot more damage. Ofc you should have a good eye for your team and know when you can go more offensive and expect they follow and when you just need to make the best to ensure he has good farm, since you are limited in your ability to do plays on your own. Supports are mostly champions which dont require much gold and stats respectively to be efficient, this lets them build more utility, like wards, aura items, use effects to help the team, slow/cc and so.
