Could Veigar get some love in the Mage Update?

Veigar has been interesting ever since his rework a while back. I do understand that his stun lacked counterplay. However, his kit seems to lack cohesiveness now. He has no way to set up his stun, and his stun is required in order to land W.

Other mages have ways to land their CC, or they have easier to land CC. Vel'Koz slows with Q and follows up with E. Morgana can ult, and then land the binding either while they are slowed, or right after the ult root. Xerath, if needed, can land his slow before his stun. Ahri has a pretty fast Charm, that can be hard to dodge.

There are more obviously. But it just feels like Veigar has no way to land his stun on a competent player.

So I was thinking, what if his Q slowed you? And the slow amount could scale with AP?

For example, it could always slow by 20% for 1 second, but it could gain an additional 10% slow for every 100 AP you had. Numbers could be changed. So, at 500 AP, you'd slow for 70% with your Q.

This would solidify his late game playstyle, but it would give him a way to land his cage while they were slowed by himself. However, he wouldn't easily be able to do this early game due to lower AP.

Another idea could be to make it so enemies could get slowed by Veigar while trapped inside his cage, but only if he hit them with an ability first.

For example, Veigar could trap an enemy inside E, land Q for the slow, and follow up with W.

Or, he could trap them with E, ult them for a guaranteed slow, and then W Q them. If this went through, I'd be fine with a range nerf on his E, or even a cooldown nerf, or both.

As far as updating Veigar goes, I highly doubt they'll ever touch him again. There were so many good ideas on the boards to rework him around a delayed E, but they were all ignored. Seemed like he was labeled as "fine" so we just have to except him for what he is I guess. At least he wasn't as bad as Morde though.

the problem is his abilities dont work with itself at all, and hes even more dependent on his stun than ever, he does need changes again. and again, for all the wrong reasons too. hes not in a good spot and its entirely because veigar has nothing good in his kit besides the stun.

at this point, id rather see they rework him entirely from the ground up. riot has shown they cant make a meaningful change, and they've made it clear that the only thing veigar should be capable of is damage and it "just has to come at such a high risk due to his infinite scaling"

xerath's stun is a slow skillshot which can't pass through units, and it's duration scales between 0.75 to 1.75 seconds, depending on the distance it travelled.

Karma, Ziggs, Swain all need love before Veigar...

If you practice hard enough, you can place your stun in front of people so that they run into it

They likely will, even if just from new items and item changes.

I would prefer it more if they would focus on the mages who are more obscure and less functional such as kennen, zyra, fiddlesticks, galio, kassadin...who was only classified as an assassin/mage because he had a ranged attack, katarina(aka the pub-stomper with no potential who is supposed to an assassin but plays point and click like a mage), lulu(the monstrosity riot has secretly tried to abolish from all play XD), lissandra(who barely feels like a mage at this point with long cooldowns and no rewards to her spellcasts other than her crowd control), Swain(be honest, he has needed an update for forever and his recent nerfs only made things worse as a late-game champ), vladimir(I like him but he's clunky, short ranged and a nuisance to the opponents while not actually contributing much to a team), and finally, Zilean(who has so much potential, but he's effectively stuck with one ability to use, one to spam to help the first, one a situational, off-chance use and finally his ultimate as use it or lose it in a losing fight)

I think veigar is one of their better designed champions as it is because he is relevant at all points of the game but not powerful until late game, then he fulfills his true role as a hypercarry whereas other mages lose out on damage, utility and heck even mobility as veigar has the ultimate disengage tool, even if he is a waddling yordle when it's on cooldown
