Perhaps COTC is not the reason Darius is being nerfed?

The reason why he is getting nerfed is because he is just insane in the early game and his late game is so monstrous because he scales so well with his early game lead he will get from his strong (Maybe a little too strong) early game presents he has.
The reason why he is already getting nerfed (and im so happy they are nerfing him, I really hate him) because he is just too strong against all of his match ups.
He is basically a low risk high reward champion that is running ramped right now.
So glad he is getting nerfed.

Do you srsly think 10 AD less will do anything? ahahahaha keep dreaming and his Q handle deals no damage anyway even now

As for the whole damage reduced to 35% is targeted to the noob Darius who happends to hit them with the handle, because 50% of the will still hurt.
The main purpose is targeted bad Darius and it makes him less of a early game monster he already is.
But yeah, a good Darius will just laugh this off from the nerfs. So you can still have fun with destroying your enemies.
