Riot, please reconsider the mana changes, as they probably won't do their intended purpose.

I understand WHY you want to implement it (lower waveclear, open up assassins in mid lane in pro play) but in practice I highly doubt either of these will happen. The mana nerfs will most likely make Archangel's Staff a mandatory purchase than anything else, failing to achieve any of the above purposes and undoing all the good work from the AP itemization update. This is because mages NEED to be able to constantly cast spells without running OOM every 30 seconds, as otherwise they will be useless - it's like playing adcs with 8 autoattacks per teamfight. If only archangels can solve that, it will be the only mana item used.

The mandatory archangels will most likely cause one out of two things - you will either nerf archangel's hard and further reduce mage carry potential (which is already very low) or buff other mana items into the sky which will make these mana nerfs obsolete to begin with and contribute further to the damage creep.

Assassins may need to see more pro play, I get it. But it's the power of ADCs and supports that stop them, NOT mages. So please Riot, revert the mana nerfs or at least wait until the mid-season update, when the two most powerful classes get nerfed and other classes see more solo carry potential. If mages turn out too strong after the midseason update, nerf them then. Please do not make such a big nerf towards one of the less problematic classes until the biggest issue is taken care of.

Thanks again.
