junglerboy165 votes

Yeah, pretty much every AD assassin who doesn't build crit got screwed by the ADC changes.

Lajneen8 votes

Not really. Yasuo and Yi might benefit from the item changes, but other crit reliant Assassins like Rengar, Talon and Zed got fucked over.

Zair Umbras1 votes

Yasuo and Yi build crit. Rengar is doing wonderfully this season. Talon with a Youmuu's is an ADC's worst nightmare, trust me. That is some scary damage.

Zed and Ezreal were the only ones hit and they're the only ones who don't benefit much from crit. Though Zed can get Death's Dance to heal off his ult.

Lajneen5 votes

No more crit chance from Ghostblade, IE nerfed, Hydra price increase and Last Whisper nerfed to the ground.

Tell me again how they benefit from these changes and while you're at it explain why their win rate dropped drastically across ALL regions.

Zair Umbras1 votes

No more crit chance from Ghostblade, but it now gives 65 AD. Hydra increased, but so was every other item in the game to make up for the LARGE increase in global gold everyone gets.... And the Last Whisper nerf is saddening, yes, -but- you can build a Cleaver and get almost the same amount of ArP you had once gotten from the previous LW, especially when you mix it with 19 ArP in runes and the 20 ArP from Ghostblade.

As for winrates, I dunno why anyone would look at their winrates right now. It's 2 days into the patch and most sites like Champion.GG haven't even fully updated yet. Champion.GG is still sitting at 5.21 while we're on 5.22. LeagueOfGraphs has updated, though the winrate change is matched by a doubling in playrate. He lost about 4% win rate, but he's played in 8% of ALL games Plat+ for Talon.

You can't really claim anything only a couple days into a patch. You can look at many champions who get 'nerfed', there's this... panic button everyone hits, so they jump on the champion and start flailing around trying to adjust and end up getting behind, then they claim it's because the nerfs and not the fact that they made mistakes. There's a whole new mastery system and new items. One can not claim anything especially since until last night, there wasn't even a Phantom Dancer to use, which is what everyone is claiming to be the 'anti-assassin' item. So without the main item even there, how can one claim these champions are doing poorly?

This is simply just people rushing to play champions they're rusty on while there's brand new masteries and lots of changes to items as well as warding. Heck, Darius had been hotfixed to do more damage and such on his release patch, yet his win rate was in the floor and people said he was bad until the next patch was released that said Darius had been buffed when Darius already had those buffs in the previous patch. He was Kassadin level banning after that patch too even though HE WAS STRONG BEFORE IT AND NOTHING CHANGED. lol.

item 3142 + item 3031

Before the update: 115 AD and 35% crit chance for 6600 gold.

Now: 130 AD and 20% crit chance for 6800 gold.

Anyone with a brain will take consistent crits over 15 AD.

Also Black Cleaver isn't even close to being as effective as Last Whisper, it also costs 1100 more gold.

The fact that their win rates dropped drastically across all regions does mean something, and it's not something positive.

Phantom Dancer is just one of few reasons why Assassins are weaker. Several other reasons have already been mentioned in this thread.

This is simply just people rushing to play champions they're rusty on while there's brand new masteries and lots of changes to items as well as warding. Nope, no matter how you look at it their numbers went down, and you know what that means? That's right, it means they're weaker. In this case, far weaker.

You're just going to ignore everything aren't you? Most Talon games ended before Talon could get IE and Ghostblade to begin with. His winrate severely drops when you compare 20 minutes to 40+.

Black Cleaver does in fact compare to the old LW. The old LW gave 35% ArP. Black Cleaver shreds the enemy's armor by 30%. Takes a few hits, yeah, but Talon's combo does 2 with the rake, 2 with AA's, 2 with the ult. That's all 6. On a tank, yeah he's going to have a bad time. Assassins -should- have a bad time with tanks. On a squishy ADC? Won't even have to sweat it. Just the initial 10-15% from the Rake and AA from the first will give 15 ArP, then 19 from runes, 20 from Ghostblade. That's 54 off of a squishy's 100ish. Go from 50% reduction to about 30% for the first part of your burst. Pretty nice, really.

Of course the old LW will always be better, but since everyone and their mother complained tanks were just too pathetic and weak with LW even existing and that was the circlejerk of the gameplay boards for all of S4 and S5... They got what they wanted finally, but I guess tanks are considered garbage tier still. lol.

No, Talon was building Hydra+Ghostblade+LW then the game ended. Very rare for him to actually get to the IE.

junglerboy161 votes

Talon is not crit reliant (relies on high AD and good armor pen), nor is Zed (relied heavily on BotRK synergy with ult and having high AD and some attack speed). Rengar is or isn't reliant on crit depending on how you build him, and before the changes, he usually went for high CDR and stacked AD and armor pen.

Lajneen1 votes

You clearly don't play any these champions.

junglerboy161 votes

No, I don't play them regularly, but the standard build that the majority of players used had no more crit than a Youmuu's (and don't expect me to believe that building Youmuu's makes you crit reliant).

Rengar I've seen build IE on several occasions, but never the other two, ever.

I suspect you know what you're talking about (project Zed icon and all), but even if you tend to build them with a lot of crit, from what I've seen, that is definitely not the norm.

Lajneen1 votes

Standard Zed build: item 3153 item 3111 item 3142 item 3035 item 3031

Standard Rengar & Talon build: item 3074 item 3117 item 3142 item 3035 item 3031 (add item 1400 if Jungle Rengar)

A crit build is by far the most efficient on them, it's been proven (even though it should be pretty obvious).

junglerboy161 votes

Again, regardless of how effective it may have been/is, I almost never saw them build it.

It could also have something to do with build order too, because I almost never have a match where everyone gets max items, so if they planned on building it last, I never see it.

IcyPepper1 votes

I don't think Zed is crit reliant, but the other two are.

Nerfed hard? It lost 5 armor.

Lost armor. Is quite a bit more expensive.

Now it has lost AP, armor and is more expensive... it is a far inferior item that it used to be by an enormous margin.

Zair Umbras1 votes

It did not lose AP at all. Everyone who says it's lost AP is just continuing the circlejerk on the preseason changes when they first hit the PBE. After, like, 2 PBE changes, Zhonya's went back to a 100 AP item. >>

Check in game and on the patch notes.. Only 5 armor lost.

You do realize it used to have 120 AP a few months ago, right?

You do realize it used to have 120 AP a few months ago, right?

You do realize it was nerfed because every AP item had its cost and AP adjusted? Like Liandry's was 50 prior, now it's 80? Rylai's procs a 40% slow on AoE's now? Rabadon's gave 30% not 35%? Archangel's had a base of 60, not 80? RoA gave much less mana and 100 more health?

Yeah. Lots of AP item changes and everyone was fine with these changes because it allowed you to pick items that weren't JUST Rabs, Zhonya's, Luden's, Nomicon, and Void.

Now small increases happen to AP items as well as AD items AND to tank items and all of a sudden everyone thinks 'OHMYGOD, MAGE ITEMS ARE BEING NERFED SO HARD'. 5 Armor and the prices are being increased to make up for global gold gain increase. Such a harsh nerf.

That does not contradict my point. Hourglass has been nerfed over and over ... the "Adjustments" were harsher on 'it' than the alternatives.

No. The adjustments on -it- were not harsher than the alternatives. It's an offensive item with high defense as well. It sitting at 3.5k is perfectly fine given most AD items are about 3.5-3.7k as well. BT is 3.7k, IE is 3.6k, Essence is 3.5k, BotRK is 3.4k, Hydra is 3.6k, Mercurial ( The AD equivalent to Zhonya's) is 3.7k.... AD items have become much, much more expensive where-as AP items are all about 3-3.2k with only Zhonya's at 3.5k and Rabadon's at 3.8k.

Don't even say the AS/Crit items are cheap because AS/Crit on ADC is the equivalent to Morellonomicon and Athene's on Mages, which are also cheap. Not to mention normal AD champions don't put AS/Crit items to much use outside of some special cases.

The "fix" to Zed's W+Q combo was really BS tbh

might as well fix all of Zed's "bugs" while you're at it and fix Riven too.

also apparently it got "fixed" because it was too fast and people couldn't react to it meanwhile rengar, talon, leblanc, kha, every other assassin does their bursts in less than a second.
