pls let Nasus hurt tanks

Big Lincoln··8 votes·1,047 views

tank killing is a juggernaut specialty and he's one of 2 who's complete shit at it (the other one sucks too) it's probably the single biggest thing holding him back right now, that and his sustain directly depending on his damage (can't heal off tanks either)

He'd probably take the least effort to fix out of any jugg and it'd put him right back in meta to be able to fight opponents who have armor.

  • sustain either scales with his health or his stacks (target agnostic)
  • E gives % penetration instead of flat shred

just these 2 changes would make him good enough to come back to life. no new mechanics needed

does nasus not have infinite scaling on Q for physical damage?

does his E not only do aoe magic damage it shreds armor of who stands in it ?

so if he is facing a tank... he uses W to slow them E to shred their armor (cuz its nasus why build mr vs him right?) so he does magic damage to them and as their armor is lowered you pop them with Q which does stupid damage and with their armor being lowered plus the sheen proc you are doing bonus damage

i dont understand the issue

oh nasus has built in life steal that allows him to sustain via fights, and his ult making him bigger and tanky while doing aoe magic damage

while typically being nearly full tank build himself

Big Lincoln2 votes

flat armor shred is worthless vs tanks, nasus will never dent a tank. not even arguable, there's a reason he sucks late game

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

he is a mid game monster like most juggernauts

20-28 mins after that he falls off

Big Lincoln1 votes

then his infinite scaling is worthless

nasus was always intended to be a late game champ. currently he's garbage late game, and garbage in general. so he should not be late game champion even though that was his entire reason for existing since being made?

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

well its a different meta now...

he was designed at a different time where everything was about super late game...

now its not ... its a faster meta ... as nasus you power farm. push... and end game by 30mins cuz after that adcs are gonna wreck you just like all tanks/juggernaut type of champs best is mid game

% max hp magic damage on ult.

Big Lincoln1 votes

the piddly damage it does is negated by 1 MR item

abca981 votes

Then you have your q as physical damage.

KVbqbFsC8e1 votes

Nasus doesn't have any good way of building armor pen, and you have clearly never played Nasus if you think the flat shred on his E does anything whatsoever to tanks. You can have 1000 stacks, and you still will not kill anything with armor as quickly as other bruisers.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

but other bruisers dont have his built in lifesteal, his Q stacking, his wither or his aoe magic damage that is ideally meant for team fights on the whole team so his AD CARRY CAN KILL TARGETS EASIER

Maybe not scaling sustain, but seeing as how most other juggernauts have shred in one form or another, I think that would be a very reasonable fix. It would make his early laning less horrendous for weak enemy match ups and his mid-late better against unfavorable one's.

Big Lincoln2 votes

it's already scaling sustain, this would just make it consistent, healing the same regardless of target which is already a staple jugg thing

if it were say (+Y stack value)(+Z% base AD), values decreased for auto attacks, it'd work out ok

ME UNGA ME SMASH1 votes

That would probably be okay, having it scale with stacks would get to be ridiculous. It'd make the Trinity Steraks build really good, big power spike when you get Steraks.

ya I like big healing

Actually % shred would make his laning worse, but scale better. Though it also depends a lot on how we make it work, if we make it scale with level it's definitely worse in early, but if we take a final value that doesn't change with ranks, maybe it's around the same.

Allowing him to kill tanks takes away one of his only two weaknesses, as it no longer matters if he can be kited or not. No champion building only defensive items (plus Frozen Fist) can deal more damage than Nasus, and it's not even close. This has to come with downsides. Yeah, he has a bad early game, but having that be the only downside would not be enough.

By the time he's casting E to attack his opponent, he's already won the lane and it doesn't matter which type of armor reduction it does.

he'd still be kitable?

is Darius not kitable even though he's got tank killing? yorick?

I didn't say he wouldn't be able to be kited. I said it wouldn't matter.

Big Lincoln1 votes

it would matter though, now that E is actually threatening to the people he collides with the most in a team fight they now have to try and kite or force him off of it, just like you're supposed to do with trundle and his buff zone

If tanks have to resort to kiting away from Nasus' team, that's a problem.

tanks don't kite

ranged champs do

kite out of his circle

doesn't necessarily mean away

And if I place the circle between my team and me?

I uh, I said that it would make his laning phase weaker. I didn't word my post well, but yeah, I know it would.

Why not give his q a small %hp scaling, it's not like he is killing late game as is. .02 per stack would require 500 stacks to hit 10% hp damage. If that's too much it's easily adjustable.

The Yetii Rider1 votes

Udyr recently got a change similar to this. The main issue is that Nasus's passive applies to everything. If Riot were to update him, they would likely put a scaling health sustain onto his Q and give him an entirely new passive (because "heal % health on every auto even against minions" is pretty dumb).

Sujiren1 votes

If you want to kill tanks that bad you could build mortal reminder, i mean triforce mortal full tank, would still be a reasonable build. If he had % shred on e, Im afraid he would have to be nerfed elsewhere, because going triforce then straight tank, but 3 shotting everybody isint that fun to play against.

Big Lincoln1 votes

late game carry gotta do his job

nerf E's damage or give it a cook time before it gives the pen. counterplay introduced, Nasus can be buffed

LW nasus is super gucchi tho

Last Whisper is a core item on Nasus when dealing with a tank. And frankly, it's enough.

If he needs to shred tanks, he's incredibly fed. And most juggernaut champions go even against tanks for the most part. Darius: shreds because he's got armor pen and black cleaver Mundo: shreds with cleavers, but magic resist negates this Garen: e shred and cleaver synergy+ villian mechanic Illaoi: she has no built in shred, but good poke and extended fights. Mordekaiser: he has ult, but magic resist makes it almost useless. Shyvanna: she has high mixed damage with e, but relies on autos, stuff like frozen heart hurts her. Trundle steals your stats, and your health with his ult, arguably best at fighting tanks among juggernauts. Udyr: can only auto. No built in shred, minimal magic damage from Phoenix Volibear: high mixed damage with an execute, but relies on autos, and has a hard time engaging. Yorick: extremely punishing lane, but no true shred without maiden until level 13

Juggernauts do okay against tanks because they're good at fighting, not because they're meant to straight up counter them. Nasus is fine if he gets to the backline, like all juggernauts. And he sustains against them well enough that he truly doesn't need to pay attention to them in lane. Therefore he wins.

Big Lincoln1 votes

not because they're meant to straight up counter them.

yes they are, juggs are intended as the natural counter to tanks. if a tank is beating one then it's a sign that the tank is overtuned or the juggernaut is weak
