Rabandon with 10% cdr, could coincide nicely with mage update.

item 3031 offers crit chance and AD (2 stats). 3 with the crit enhancement passive.

item 3089 only gives ap and passive.

I sincerely think mages would benefit from this accross the board.

lets be real you're an ap champ why wouldn't you want cdr. 10% isn't much. and now that masteries and boots gives less cdr this is welcomed. And if you have excess cdr from it simply put points into the intelligence mastery to raise the cap to 45%. item 3174 + item 3089 + blue buff + mastery = 45% cdr item 3158 item 3089 + either item 3100 /item 3152 offers 30% cdr + blue buff that's 40%.

Exploring Values/Numbers: high base ap 130 ap + 10% cdr and 15% bonus ap. item 1026 item 3108 item 1058 the passive still gives + 60 ap if you have 400 ap.

Or keep the passive value high but lower the flat ap it gives: item 1058 item 3108 item 1052 100 ap 25% ap 10% cdr

actually 10% cdr is worth closer to 20 ap. so could still give 100ap 30%ap and 10% cdr

I think its more practical to sit on item 3108 than blasting item 1026 item 3027 item 3108 item 3158 item 3001 item 3157

Mages especially need cdr because they need their disengage spell up asap if a mage prefers not to use spellvamp.

Mages also count on mr runes more and shouldn't be expected to use them much for cdr glyphs, because they don't have mr per lvl base stats to count on as much as tanks do. If they do get cdr glyphs is mostly when they get item 3001 early game. But not all mages go this route. Ap glyphs should also be more inviting for mages.

I find mages often sacrifice flat ap quints for cdr quints which tends to hurt their early game.

other issue with rabandon is the 1265 gold to buy usually even 1265 + 435 for item 1052 . that's 1700 gold to have to wait for. 900 or 1k gold makes more sense. Surely there must be a wait to improve its build path.

AD champs have item 3035 to help them deal with tanks. Ap champs must complete item 3135. what if rabadon gave like 10% bonus ap in its build path tree? item 1058 could upgrade into a 100 ap item with 10% bonus ap. + item 3108

The ad in sterak's build path disappears, it is converted into base ad. item 3053

If rabadon's path gave more flat ap that was converted / found inside its passive upon completion, you could create much more sensible build path.

Uh oh, spaghettio.

It shouldn't be EASY for mages to fit cdr into their build, just not stupid difficult.

Rabadon's has a very specific job: MAKE YOU DO TONS OF DAMAGE. If you could build the most damage possible and cdr at the same time, it would be a no brainer to buy rabadon's second item on every mage.

meanwhile IE it makes your crit do significant dmg and provides 20% crit.

You also pay 3800 gold for it. also 10% isn't much. considering the other cdr option for ap champions are pretty stale. mobility is pretty important atm as well.

A 3800 gold item can afford to be more than 1 sided, look at triforce giving it 10% cdr didn't really affect it.

I do think its build path needs changing. though. if not with codex maybe change it with blasting wand.

perhap the circlet Item I added could give 5% cdr and remove the codex. 5% is by no means significant enough take away from its specific job as you pointed out. Less so even than 20% crit on IE.

Rather than give mages the same problem as adcs, I would change IE.

It's not ok that of the first build adc items one is built like 80% of the time. item 3031> item 3508 item 3078 Rushing IE shouldn't work for the same reason rushing deathcap doesn't: It needs the stat it multiplies to all ready be built. Without AP deathcap can't reach full potential.

Meanwhile a mage who needs a mana item can start: item 3174 item 3165 item 3003 oritem 3027 Some are better suited to certain mages, while a few mages can take their pick.

IE should be the marksman version of deathcap, not only right answer of what to build.

Kinda like how Deathfire Grasp was pretty much a MUST buy on EVERY mage because it was just too good....

http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/a/a8/Deathfire_Grasp_item.png/revision/latest?cb=20130731230043 stats:

  • +120 ability power
  • +10% cooldown reduction

Active

  • Unique: Deals 15% of target champion's maximum health in magic damage and applies the debuff, Doom. Doom amplifies all magic damage that champion takes by 20% for 4 seconds. 90 second cooldown (750 range).

There was a reason why it was nerfed often... And then completely removed.

I can imagine people rushing that as 2nd-3rd item just for the cdr... Yikes the power spikes...

I would rather see them just add another CDR option or two. Overloading the crap out of Rabadon's would just get it nerfed later on. Let it do what it does now which is be a fat stack of AP with a nice multiplier for when you already have a good amount of AP.

Dfg was like a fizz ult plus %hp chunk. It would still be broken if they replaced the CDR with more ap, especially back then when you had 5%cdr from mastery and 15% cdr boots. In the same way I don't think rabadon would budge if you were to trade some ap for 5% or 10% CDR.

Anyways on another note Thoughts on build path concept in picture?
