@Riot, does Zilean's increased popularity in high level play (especially worlds)...

...increase his kit rework priority?

I can't think of anyone who really enjoys playing Zilean, or feels satisfied playing him, let alone playing against him. He just has so much unavoidable free damage with his bombs, and his ult is incredibly powerful, and on such a short cooldown (it says 180 seconds, but his W pretty much makes that a blatant lie that, again, is unavoidable and has no counterplay), he's pretty high on the ban list so far at worlds if im not mistaken, and this OMG vs Fnatic game going on right now is proving why. He's just a plain unfun champion all around (strong opinion, but not one without support).

If I remember correctly, Poppy or Warwick are next up after Sion here is relaunched, but I think Zilean should honestly be considered to move up a bit on that list. I would be very, very surprised if his Worlds performance so far has NOT caught your attention, and maybe made you rethink how high on the kit rework priority list he is.

Zil's a pain in the butt. It doesn't matter if you win or lose, I feel like Zil's damage is uncounterably save for staying out of his range. Not to mention his ult is a superior GA on a ridiculously low CD, and his speed boosts/slow downs make it exceptionally frustrating to chase him or run away from him. Oh and his passive. Gotta love my opponent hitting level 2 before I do and zoning me in top lane...

His speedup/slowdown thing is honestly the least of his problems. Everything else is just so... oppressive and frustrating to play against.

That level thing is very true. Only reason I would play support Zilean. That, and when I get him on Aram.

Job on ARAM: Hide in bush, let team get massive exp lead. Come out of bush when nexus is down to 100 hp. Get last hit and look like you were there the whole time.

Apparently according to my friends, I'm the only one who enjoys plays Zilean, Sion, and Poppy. They're my 3 favorite champions, and it hurts seeing them reworked. Sion it was needed, although when farmed he was an unkillable behemoth. Poppy is just poppy, she does her work. It's sad seeing champions that have had potential for years and never put to work, but now Poppy and Zilean are recognized finally and being changed. item 3070

Enrage COST: 6 / 8 / 10 / 12 / 14 health per attack Enrage

Toggle: While toggled on, Sion has increased attack damage at the cost of some health for each basic attack.

Bonus Attack Damage: 25 / 35 / 45 / 55 / 65

While Enrage is active, Sion permanently increases his maximum health whenever he kills a unit with either his attacks or abilities (doubled against champions and large units).

Health Gained per kill: 1 / 1.5 / 2 / 2.5 / 3

Health Gained per kill: 3 Health gain: 3 Gain:3 3

.......anyone who has not seen a 6000 hp Sion has not seen something scary. Who cares about that Nasus with 300 stacks, look out for that Sion with 6000 hp.... =P

Zilean is in the perfect place right now, simply because he can catch champions that are "mobile"

Fizz, Khazix, Udyr Nidalee etc etc, list goes on

What wrong with zilean? Low base hp Very high mana costs - a ton of times I play zil you are forced to auto attack are too many.

Sure his kit does decent damage, but his ultimate doesn't do as much? Look at syndra. Q W E stun poke and a kill ult.

Zilean is in the same spot right now as kayle. Perfect for almost every team comp.

Zilean also has no damage late, very bad in 1 vs 1 scenario ( no damage past double bombs ) and a useless passive at late game.

I don't think they increase rework priority in the event that a champion is too powerful; I think rework priority largely revolves around the rest of their workflow, and where they can fit in a rework. If a champion is too powerful or is just toxic, I think they usually just nerf them pretty substantially until there's a chance to look for a viable rework (which is what happened to Soraka). I'm not sure how Riot sees Zilean right now; they've given him minor touch ups over the past few patches so it doesn't look like he's off their radar, but since I hardly ever see Zilean outside of competitive play (kind of like old Soraka), and that the Worlds patch is already locked in, even if Riot reworks him tomorrow, it isn't going to change his popularity over Worlds. My guess is that they might look to push out some changes before season 5 starts; they've been getting incredibly efficient with their reworks; I could see all three (Poppy, WW, Zilean) being released before the end of the year. I'm not a Rioter though so don't hold anyone to that.

I know they wont change anything for worlds, that patch has been locked in for a while now, but I'm just asking if this has gotten their attention on Zilean's oppressive power right now. When it affects their esports, they listen very, very hard.

I dont think we should expect to see more than maybe one of those three being relaunched before the end of the year, but hopefully Riot will surprise me, because honestly I hate playing as, with, and against all three of those champions. :(

His ult is on a 180 second CD because he can lower its cooldown with his W. I'm pretty sure nobody else has a 180 second CD level 6 and most people have like a 90-60 second CD on their ults at level 16. If they removed the CDR on his ult his ult CD would get reduced by a lot.

Grimraust2 votes

It'd probably be on the same CD as Kayle's. Kayle's ult CD is too short as is.

His spell cast range is rather ridiculous, not to mention he has one of the best speed boost abilities on live. His speed boost is just as bad as Ghostdyr. His gameplay doesn't seem interactive in bot lane because aside from the speed boost he is really not offering his teammates anything pre 6. His W is the least interactive and problematic ability in his kit. "just got to remember to press W!" They need to change these autopilot supports like sona and zil.
