The splash looks damn amazing, Riot. It doesnt sexualize her, it doesnt have her in a "dynamic" (aka super impossible and awkward to look at) pose, it's just her casting her spell and looking like a super badass.

I especially love the color palette in this splash. The blues and purples look amazing and set an awesome mood.

Again, good job Riot, on this splash, on Wukong's splash update, and on pretty much every new splash you've made, well, this whole year (which is a LOT).

One. GLARING. Issue.

Why isn't she sucking the life out of helmet bro / attacking him?

Have you listened to her spooky VO? it would be extremely out of character.

Jamnon2 votes

Yes, but is not a DEATH reaper out of character for her?

Funny you should say that, I made a thread about Reaper Soraka and this comment pretty much helped clarify a bit for me about the perception of reapers in general. http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/story-art/REqpd9VI-riotkateykhaos-riotbaconhawk-riotanybody-a-suggested-splash-art-for-the-upcoming-reaper-soraka?comment=0002

Thank you for that. This particular interpretation (of which there are many) certainly fits her a bit better. Although there are some interpretations that differ from this view:

The Jewish "Destroying Angel" for one.

This splash art isn't particularly shephard-like and appears menacing - I just want to be clear that I like the interpretation you linked best. Which is why I had made that comment. That's all I wanted to say. Guess I'm just rambling now. LUNCH TIME.

Yeah, the only thing I was really afraid of is if they went with a more terrifying or grim look. I'm alright with this splash because it has that 'it's not wise to mess with me' vibe rather than the 'i'm here to kill you and take your soul' vibe.

Would I have love to get a shepherd one? Most definitely! But I take what I am given. Who knows, I could trick IronStylus into making one. It would require great effort but it's worth it.

Alot of the skins re-imagine the characters (i.e void fizz)

She's not nasty :\ ....She likes helmet bro....

I thought we already established this guys, the Reapers just have a really bad PR department, they're not all evil.

Joking aside, I kinda like this depiction of the reaper. She seems more of a benevolent ferryboat-woman who ushers them to the afterlife, she's not trying to make your passing any less comfortable then it is, in fact, she's trying to make it as smooth as possible.

I love the splash too. I feel the model itself is still wanting of some further iteration. But everything concerning the skin is coming along nicely.

I was afraid that Riot was going to go with a more intimidating or scary route with Reaper Soraka splash but they decided to go with a straight up "I'm a badass" pose, props.

Now for her ingame model, I would like that purpler cowl to be tone down just a tad more. But if the 10/29 is the final iteration, I'm cool with the current model.

Honestly it's a really beautiful and well done splash art, but I would (and apparently am the only one) rather her having a more grimy, malevolent kind of splash art.

eztarg3t1 votes

Well, its not that you're the only one who wants a malevolent splash but if it went down that route with her current VO, I would argue it would be a sense of false advertisement.

Cross your fingers for bloodstone soraka with a new VO: "of course, I'll heal you but I will be expecting that health back...with interest.

Placentas1 votes

Yeah I've said in the past on the boards/forum that Blood Stone Soraka would make an excellent skin. It's gritty and evil in aesthetics and a VO would make it just that much better. It would also compliment Blood Stone Taric + Lissandra nicely.

Her thumb looks longer than it should

she looks like a female two legged hecarim... which is a great thing, cuz hecarim is a boss.

badass bitch right there

Sukishoo2 votes

Well I don't think most people WANT too see a "sexualized" goat unicorn lady ;)

Trading Aces2 votes

Nothin' wrong with some "sexualization" here and there. It just has to be appropriate with the theme.

I think he tore off Karthus' fingers for herself.

I can say that as an humble gold soraka main that I will be buying this skin, as soon as I saw it on the PBE I knew I needed to have it.

yeh that would have been good

Except for her horn being ridiculously oversized (even compared to in game model) it's great. Just fix the horn please.

Dryad Soraka1 votes

Agreed, it's amazing.

Shurle1 votes

I agree. Good job Riot, you managed to draw a female champion without a broken spine and gigantic cleavage barely contained by a battle-bra. Keep it up.

+1 For this. Take note riot.

I'm surprised really, non of you are complaining about it. That's a major surprise to me

I would disagree. That's a very dynamic pose she has there, with her fingers curled, and her other arm stretched beyond her body.

John Berserk1 votes

I suppose it is dynamic, at least as opposed to "static" a static one.

I guess what I meant by "dynamic" was something more along the lines of Sivir's splash. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-r1pN91cBclY/Um6o3g9EHgI/AAAAAAAAIbw/ihCdPB8FlJI/s1600/Sivir_Splash_0.jpg

The word I'd use is "in motion".

^That... and she is kneeling forward/down, which could have just come at the end of running down an enemy.

Props to the splash art department, I have to admit I've always checked the splash art section first for the glorious new splashes in every patch notes before anything else, and I always look forward to the next one. Well done guys!

JancedLack1 votes

Am I the only one still worried about her in-game hood color? It's a lot brighter than the splash makes it out to be.

Chromatic Eagle1 votes

I think only her original splash is sexualized. I'm pretty sure most of her skins show her in normal poses.
