A Shaco Main thinking about Warwick, and why Warwick's update is crucial to the Vision Game

With the upcoming Warwick update, I pray Riot lets Warwick keep his Blood Scent, but turns it into a detection effect. As a Shaco main, it always bothered me that Shaco's invisibility superseded WW's Blood Scent. That said, if Blood Scent didn't grant sight, but instead detected the enemy, it would be good for both of them.

I personally imagine a reddish-orange version of Singed 's Poison Trail. Similar to Red Trinket, and Rek'Sai's Tremor Sense, it would give information to Warwick and his team, but NOT provide targetibility. Not providing targetibility is great for invisibility, as the invis still offers some protection against basic attacks and targeted abilities. Not only would it be a real-time update of where WW's prey is while juking through brush and being invisible, it also provide info as to if the enemy was near or not! Similar to Singed's Poison Trail and Ekko's Hologram, it could extend 4 or more seconds behind his prey.

It would capitalize on his theme and fantasy as a lycanthrope, emphasize his canine attributes, make him feel like a hunter, identify him as a powerful jungler, be incredible utility even regardless of the enemy team-comp, and crucially make him a counter weight to pool of invisible champions, and, with his weight in place, allow for some QoL buffs for the stealth crew, and maybe even open up the possibility for other instances and expressions of invisibility!

It can't be overstated how important this update is for the health of the game as a whole. Riot is on the money when it comes to effects like RekSai 's Tremor Sense and the Sweeping Lens' Silhouette. The game needs effects like these to exist if invisibility and stealth are to be an exciting and engaging option for both parties involved. Bonus points if they can keep WW's Howl in some form.

For the love of Shaco, Evelynn , Teemo, and League itself, don't miss this opportunity Riot, please!

This is one in a series of posts I'm going to make about the vision game, because I don't want Riot to get the wrong idea and move away from detection effects, i.e. the community has to embrace these 'info but no targetibility' effects!

  1. Unpopular Opinion: We shouldn't have Pink Wards on a trinket or SS

  2. Daily Reminder & PSA: Stealth =/= Invisibility

  3. Xypherous calls wards 'sight sticks' and says something about them 'feels off' - and he's 100% right

The only way this works is if Warwick himself has a way of knocking the enemy out of invisibility. This is because Warwick has no abilities that can break stealth and no abilities that can hit stealthed targets.

Something like this:

E -- Blood Hunter:

Passive: Warwick detects enemies within 800 (number can be adjusted) range. This detection bypasses invisibility effects, line of sight, and vision reducing effects.

Active: Warwick throws dust into a targeted area, revealing any enemy units within for <insert duration>.

You make a good point, and I agree - although, your hypothetical skill, while functional, is a little simple.

I think they would go for something a little more thematic like a savage lunge, or perhaps he'll have some kind of AoE maul attack, hitting stuff in front of him. It will be interesting to see what they do. :)

Imagine if blood scent is triggered, WW howls, and then his allies and himself gain increased attack speed and/or movement speed? It's like his team is his own wolf pack? The effect might last while blood scent is triggered, (and be less powerful), or activate for a number of seconds, go on cooldown for a number of seconds, and come back up while blood scent is still triggered. (and be regularly powerful).

It'd help you finish teamfights or engage when the enemy is low.

It'd be a lot of fun. As a 6 year warwick main, I can't wait to see what riot has in store. A lot of ideas people have about WW's kit aren't so far fetched, especially with how loaded the new champs are when looking at their kits. WW has a lot of room to gain more utility.

True, I was under the impression though, that Riot didn't like how his Howl gave his team free stats. I never thought about it like they're his wolf-pack though, so it will be interesting to see. :)
