Why doesn't Riot make more use of click-and-drag for abilities?

I think that's a pretty cool ability usage, but from what I can recall it's only on Viktor, Taliyah and Rumble right? Why don't more champions have something like that? Even if it isn't that specifically according to those abilities, I can think of some pretty neat uses for it. For example, let's say instead of Wukong's Q being just an auto attack reset and empower, it can either be dragged forwards for a vertical smash of his staff or dragged horizontally for a sweeping swing. Or for Anivia you can use the click and drag to determine the general shape of her ice wall. Just a couple of uses that go beyond "aoe casts in this line at this spot" that would make some champions more engaging to play, even if it's not the two I mentioned.

Ah, you right. I forgot about that. There could be more, tho.

Naw too hard for the brain dead, let's leave it at point-click mechanic![slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

Honestly the mechanic just feels extremely clunky. I've played both Viktor and taliyah and the click&drag increases your cast time and I've had their abilities cancel out pretty often too.

Well, I admit there are sometimes errors but tbh dealing with the issues is a matter of practice and experience. When I first began playing Viktor and Rumble however many years back, I found it extremely difficult to use their click-and-drag abilities. I could never get Rumble's ult to hit the right spot and I sometimes outright didn't use Viktor's E by accident. But the more I played them and got used to the abilities, it became very simple to use them.
