change my mind please about zyra ult

why isnt her ult damage a "DOT" instead of a instant damage nuke then (her q) snare/knockup. it would make more sense due to being somewhat a poison ivy effect or thorny effects instead of a "oopsie i killed you" ult instant damage ult ( yes i know its not insta gib but it does enough to say so why should i get out of her ult now since the damage is done already) it kinda lacks counterplay due to its instant spawn mechanism it should have a ziggs ult-like indicator or a "DOT" poison ivy like effect.

Zyra is, basically, Azir's meaner sister.

  • Spawns multiple 'soldiers,' can do almost a dozen if placed right with enough CDR.
  • Autonomous "Fire and Forget" plants
  • Incredible Range of her 'Soldiers'
  • Almost no cooldowns.
  • Massive AOE Nuke that also causes two forms of CC, and makes her 'soldiers' go insane.
  • Incredible range of a root that travels through anything.

All of that said, your issue with her is that her ult's damage is instant? :p

most instances are actually true except zyra gives up said 'soldier' mobility for hardcore poke (her most cooldown is her manually placed plants with W skill besides ult)

Indeed. She also makes up for the mobility by spitting out 2-3 every 8 seconds late game.

Personally I feel it would make more sense as a DoT. Operating much like Lissandra's, with different mechanics.

It makes more sense for her lore, and her operating style. When she was released there weren't a ton of AOE DoTs, so I think she was based off that premise.

Because her plant's die instantly and she needs the instant damage because she's probably dead.

We have enough basic abilities that have such a large round dot effect. For it to be ult-worth it would need to be A LOT more powerful than Morgan pool, Or Nasus pool, or MF pool, etc.

ok fair point sometimes though if instant damage is already dealt what is the incentive of getting out of the ult if the damage is already done and you killed the plants already during the ult summoning ( i know you get knocked up but if your a tank you should be allowed to ignore this part).

The huge knock-up. That gives her team time to focus someone down. The tank is fine but the idea is that when well placed it eliminates peel off carries for a moment after softening them up.

It can be used as part of a 100 to 0 nuke combo when catching a squishy.

Or depending on who it hits in teamfights, if any, it can zone, shred, kill or disable.

It's really versatile in it's function. It's just that it's power is spread out over multiple functions so it lacks oomph.

If it hits the tank, the tank doesn't care. But you can't tenacity a knock-up. So if they power through, they are leaving open a window for a diver to bypass em.

If it hits a carry, they may need to play scared because of being low health, and they can't stay in the zone because if they get knocked up they are easy pickings. So it zones them out of the fight if done right.
