Everyone and their fucking mother turns gold nowadays
Perfect timing needs a timing nerf.
You have to wait 10 minutes for a free pair of boots, why isn't this so with an item that has a much more powerful impact?

My guess is that it should encourage risky plays by the jungler, meaning early dives etc. But yeah, that rune is fucking bullshit tbh.
Yet it accomplished the complete opposite.
Not really, I think it’s BEST usage is in an early dive. Also junglers can pick the lane they want to dive (not enemy will have a stopwatch, but it’s possible both you can your laner do - making the dive pretty free even at lvl 3)
I actually hate playing against it, everyone usually has it, and it basically rewards poor play by a player with a early "oh shit" button.
I watched a 4v4 early bot lane fight yesterday on a stream, 7 people went golden throughout the fight and barely lived. Vayne couldn't go golden and died for it. They lost first tower, first blood, and first dragon because one person didn't take the stupidly broken rune.
Those highlight meme video channels need all of the stopwatch bait plays as possible for maximum income.
I'd be fine if it was given the same time system as those boots. 10 minute timer with 30 seconds knocked off per takedown.
I thought this was a ranked joke at first but not dissappointed. +1
Objectively broken rune.
Spectating early game plays where 3+ people are popping stopwatch feels cheesy.
The last lck game I watched there was 7 stop watches in the game lmao
LC$ plays don't come from boots
Does anyone seriously want to watch this though. There is nothing exciting about it.
People with any taste follow Dota's tournament scene.
League is for casual play with friends.
Its the Call of Duty vs CS:GO dynamic.
Yes, Call of Duty has a comp scene... but come on now. its doritos+mountain dew MLG Toblerone spinning production, very little substance.
Except League is designed to be spectator friendly. DOTA is designed moreso to be based off the original game, without real emphasis on spectating. The only people who are really going to watch a DOTA competition are people who play DOTA as a result.
This is just uninformed and silly. Dotas spectating tools have been more robust then league since the games launch.
Dota's launch spectator tools are better then anything riot has given us in these years. You can spectate dota worlds from within your own game client with complete camera control while still listening to any commentator of your choice within the game itself.
To say league is more "spectator friendly" is so grossly incorrect that it invalidates any future point you may try to make.
It doesnt matter how much better your spectator tools are if someone who doesnt play the game has no idea what is going on because your visuals are too same-y. Most non DOTA players wouldnt be able to tell a minion apart from a champion, where as league has a clear graphical design and color difference, as well as size difference.
Spectator tools dont make a game spectator friendly.
People with zero experience with league are just as lost. Dota effects are quite clear, and teamfights actually have yes overly graphical shit going on then league fights do.
But you know, even if you did get lost in dota, since you have superior spectator tools, you could rewind the game in real time to investigate it, look at the fight recap to see what skills were used in a second by second basis, etc.
Your position is one born of ignorance. I doubt you even have experience with spectating dota. If you did, you wouldn't be saying things that were so painfully off.
Except people who have no idea about anything in league can at least follow the game and differentiate between mobs and players, as well as abilities.
There are literally DOTA champs the same size and graphical sytle as minions. That is not spectator friendly.
who is this hero who is the same size and style as a minion, so i can post the images and further show your lack of knowledge.
Most tend to. The minions also have similar colors to the background of the game, and the entire game palate is a really dark theme. Theres little visual distinction in dota on colors alone, making them blend fairly easily into the background, and their "minions" are nearly the same size as plenty of their champions (because someone had the genius idea of making them bipedal monsters.... doesnt work well).
https://youtu.be/bNFAb34P1Q0?t=6m7s
I mean seriously, look at this. Just taking a quick glance its near impossible to separate champions from minions or anything because they all have the same color palates, and just barely have size differences, if even that. You have 3 minions who are green and 3 player characters who are also all green and of similar size. The only thing youd be able to glean to differentiate them is their health bar being different, but even both of those are green.
So I took that video, showed it to a co worker, since I'm on lunch anyway. He's a smite player, no league experience and dota experience.
Funny, when I asked him what was going on he seemed to have a pretty easy understanding of it. He didn't know what the skills did obviously, but he pointed out something in particular, the frost nova activation that slowed everyone from shivas guard.
He said "That must be a frost nova, because it looks icy and everyone slowed afterward. "
Now compare that to an untrained user watching a randuins activtion in a crowded teamfight.
Which do you think is more intuitive? There is much of this. You're letting your lack of understanding for what Dota skills are make you think its "hard to follow" compared to league. When you simply know more about what skills are doing in league. The problem is, if you were untrained and watching the game itself, you learning options are vastly limited. You can't pause in real time rewind, investigate the skills mid broadcast.
League is simply inferior in this aspect. Coming from a player who plays both games a great deal.
Go ask someone who has 0 moba experience whats going on and which is easier to follow. Fact of the matter is LoLs artwork design is far superior and actually gives you the ability to visually distinguish between champ, minion, and background; where as DOTA definitely does not.
If you were to show the same person LoL videos, theyd have a far easier time following the action. The palate for the areas is strikingly different from that of the champions, which is again different from the creeps. As i pointed out at the timestamp in the video, thats NOT the case for DOTA. At all. It gets far worse when you realize that the minions fade into the background of the game fairly easily because everything is similar in color with little contrast.
Don't get me wrong i hate leagues current esport scene and i'm not watching it anymore but CS:GO ? For real? Such a trash game it's insane how hyped it is especially the esports.
But back in my days AWP was banned on every server for a reason.
boots have a bigger impact tbh. you can escape death rather than wait for it to happen.
Literal bronze logic.
so... math is hard. you can escape death once, maybe make one play that will result in a kill (best case scenario), which is roughly 300g income plus the sell of the broken stop watch. if the game lasts we will say 30 minutes, you would have much more distance done with that extra movement speed that could have made many more plays than just 1. i dunno, maybe im wasting my time trying to explain to eu player. there is a reason they never show up at worlds but what do i know.
You guys realize this is a 1 time use only until upgraded into full item or spent gold to fix it? This is like complaining about barrier or flash being some kind of bait/free out of jail card.
TBH the community complained A LOT when Barrier was good.
I think Stopwatch is a bit too good early though. It’s 600g item at 6 mins, Stasis a powerful active, and contributes 300g (1 kill) to GA/Zhonyas. It could be knocked back to 10 minutes and still be a good pick without it being too good with early dives.
No you cannot compare these two effects. Barrier isnt even comparable to the stasis effect, flash IS stupidly broken but this entire game has been balanced around flash and flash is actually one of leagues trademarks now.
I feel like the stopwatch duration needs to be cut down. It shouldnt be the full 2/3 seconds zhonyas is. Make it more for dodging an early ult or hook by making it a half second or maybe one second. Its a free item with one of the best actives in the game. It shouldnt be the full active imo
Its a one time use item with a high impact moment. Same reason flash will never be removed or nerfed enough; because it makes gameplay more fun to watch and allows people to do neat things and interesting outplays, making it worth more to keep in even if it might otherwise be imbalanced.

If they removed flash we'd totally miss quickshots mocking tone every time multiple flashes are blown
Except the stopwatch breaks after a single use. Used it when you didn't have to? Well now you're shit out of a stopwatch.
Oh well, guess I'll just sell it and buy boots or hold onto it for a discount on GA/Stone plate/Zhonyas
Personally id love flash to get removed, as it annoys the fuck out of me that people talk about how things are so imbalanced when something is pick or ban, but yet we have games where youre lucky if 1 person doesnt run flash, entirely because WWs ult loves ghost, or singed runs fast.
And sure, stopwatch might have other benefits, but its still a rune that is essentially a 1 time use active so almost all of its power is in that one moment. If you sell it, its worth like 300g. Keep it and its worth 600 and requires you to get an item most champs dont get early, so youre stuck with a dead item slot until you make it.
Agreed, I think that it should only come online around 8-10 minutes or just provide a discount Stopwatch after a set amount of time so if someone actually wants to invest in it early, then they should pay the full price to do it. It feels like it forces Assassins and any champion that needs early/level 6 kill pressure to rush or wait until their lane opponent messes up royally before being able to commit to anything.
Nonono, ignoring an entire mage combo (including their ult) and getting a free 300 gold due to a minor rune is balanced, what are you talking about kappa
I think it has a lower early cd as a means to prevent those early game dives people have been complaining about. Which it is great for.
The lowered Zhonya/GA/Stoneplate CD also shouldn't be undervalued.

This game shouldn't be balanced around elo where this happens.
So we are just pretending the active of a 3k gold item that has been so overpowered since ever that the item itself got like twenty tweaks to it until it's at a fine state?
Like yeah sometimes it's fun to cockblock people on it, on the other hand it is stupidly broken especially on these "lategame" champs where you only have one or two chances to actually snowball off of them before they become unbearable (e.g. vlad or gp for example) to handle. This rune unfortunately has no place in league especially not in its current iteration.
despite the abuse it gets, I really like it on champs like
for early ults+
combo
I have an idea, check it out guys. The stop watch is on a time, laning against someone who has a stop watch? Force them to use it, or dont put yourself in a situation where you die bc they have one. Simply knowing that your laner has a stop watch should make you weary of dives or potentially close fights.[zombie-nunu-bummed]
Also keep in mind you have to choose a rune category that does not give you much benefit for dmg either. you get what 20% more heal length from potions, how OP? So its not like you not sacrificing something for it. Unlike barrier you can at least keep moving to get away vs standing still getting ready to die once it wears off.
6 minutes is around the time a solo laner gets their ultimate. It saves "late game champs" from getting destroyed by early all ins. Plus it breaks after the first use. Without stopwatch saving lives, I feel like the game would be a bit more snowbally because nowadays, every early kill matters.
sometimes I even buy a stopwatch as the first component for zhonyas/stoneplate/GA just to get one free cheese off.
Can the item just disappear when you use it
And have the mastery reduce the cost of Zhonya's by 300g
Movement speed has a much more permanent and powerful impact than a few seconds that you avoided being killed. Avoiding death once - because the watch breaks - is denying an opponent 1 kill. Being faster than your opponent for the rest of the game because you have more MS is MUCH MUCH stronger and can lead you to not dying more as well as being better at chasing and securing kills. The watch can't even remotely come close to the power offered by more MS than your enemies.
