Ever thought the jungle is too damn safe?

A second attempt at this interesting concept. Back at the previous thread which was months back i suggested the jungle was lacking something in particular i thought the idea would fill that "gap". Whats causing that is pretty much leagues linear playout and how much emphasis bot lane governs over the game and as "bot won" being too strong of a win condition, i think its time for the environment itself to have a say so in a match.

The idea started with adding a new buff alongside red/blue introducing it as a unique jungle camp that never remains in the same spot but rather has its own agenda, kills all and helps nobody. A camp that can actually hunt YOU basically.

And why does league need this? you may ask. Well the jungle is currently "too safe" for all parties, too much vision dispels mystery in short terms discourages excitement. Predicated results which means a small amount of different outcomes in different situations in general.

Shouldn't a jungle be dangerous? So many fights breakout in the jungle... why not make it more interesting? The enemy of my enemy is my friend? Could league be less linear?

League could be less linear period. This is why they added the herald as an optional objective they wanted to spice things up. A third party unique jungle camp could spice things up as well, for example..

its 9 min into the match and the score is currently 3 to 10. Typically in a snowballing match the losing team loses less and less control over there own jungle. Eventually no one has room to breathe but the enemy team has all the room to breathe.. this shouldn't be a thing period. If the jungle was more dangerous then more strategic activity would have to be planned on both sides. I would want this predator to have a huge say so in matters so for this case an infernal drake is about to be taken by the winning team, here the unique buff could show up and scare everyone off, a sudden chaos that disrupts everyone's usual order. A sudden randomness like this can make an event more impactful in this scenario both teams can

Team A (Winning team)

  • Wait out the opportunity to take infernal drake. (since X is around)
  • Bait Team B near the drake pit and allow X to deal with B, then simply clean up after the mess.
  • Lure X and claim X as the objective (used then as a win condition)

Team B (Losing team)

  • Use X as a distraction to keep the enemy team preoccupied in certain area of the map.
  • Claim X for gold then reset.
  • Let Team A start fighting X or infernal drake and take advantage of team A's lack of numbers (ambushing when when all enemy team members are accounted for.)

As you read from above a simple event of "lets fight for infernal" has become even more chaotic and random and not so predictable as usual.

What does the new camp give? GOLD of course but it would never be easy, imagine a baron that was mobile but hunts you too when it feels like it. Also when it gets kills of anyone (executes) allow it to get much stronger and make the reward higher. More risk, more reward. Then when its strong enough nobody on either side would want to enter the jungle in fear of it. This would greatly infulence individual pathing and even how teams move as a pack together.

Let this also allow teams to come with perhaps new path ways in the jungle.. does the jungle ALWAYS have to be safe? or should be closed off at times due to third party, environmental conditions?
