Reasons why you are not winning in Onslaught

Hey, I've figured this mode out, and I see a lot of people who still haven't and are buying noob trap items or just plain not playing right. So here's what you are doing wrong that's costing your fellow guardians their lives.

  1. You build these : item 3031 Crit
item 3147 Lethality item 3035 Anything Last Whisper All of these stats are worthless. Crit requires at least 4 other items in this mode to mean anything, and you don't have that luxury. Lethality is wasted on the bulky enemies of the mode, and the final boss has so much armor that it will barely even scratch it (What's 400 minus 40 or so?). Last Whisper is wasted on literally everything in the entire mode. Nothing has bonus armor, meaning Last Whisper is a glorified Longsword that gives more AD. Dominik's sounds like a good idea for all of the tanky monsters, but it only augments your already flat damage which isn't altogether great against the tanky monsters to begin with, and does LITERALLY NOTHING against the final boss (because it is NOT a champion).

  2. Even if you aren't building the previous trap sat lines, you're building these: item 3072 : Lifesteal effectiveness is reduced by an entire third, making this item a steaming pile of wasted gold item 3026 : In a game mode where reviving already exists, this is an incredibly selfish pickup, and there are much better options than it. item 3285 : Not really worth it considering the final boss as well as countless tanky Kha'zix, Cho'gath, and Rek'sai clones literally give no shits about the bonus damage procs from this item. item 3157 : Seems like a good idea at first, but considering a Poppy playing as a revive bot is better than the single second chance this item provides, not worth. item 3068 : Under normal circumstances, a no brainer. Being able to constantly proc Grasp as well as constantly being able to rack up damage with this item makes it extremely gold efficient, all things considered. ASSUMING YOU HAD ENOUGH GOLD TO COMPLETE IT AS A 4th ITEM. As it stands, when playing Poppy, utility, CC, Supplementing the ADC, and survival are more important than damage in this mode. You should always be getting Knight's Vow, Stoneplate, and Warmog's every single time, and Stoneborn Pact is the preferred Keystone Mastery. item 3135 : Nothing in this mode actually has enough MR to make the percentage Mpen this item provides worth it. Everything except the boss has 30 MR, meaning you would be getting rid of around 11 or 12 MR. Haunting Guise and Sorc Shoes should be the only pen items you get, as both provide 15 pen and together give you the combined 30 pen you'll need to be dealing basically true damage to everything except the final boss.

  3. You are operating under the delusion that you or anyone else on the team takes priority over the AD DPS characters (this includes on-hit Ahri): You are literally NOTHING in this mode without DPS. You need to play around your ADC, and you need to realize that you will not succeed if they do not succeed. That means if you get Lulu or Janna, you are NOT building AP or damage of any kind to try to have fun. You are building every item meant to supplement your ADC. Censer, Redemption, Athene's, Knight's Vow, etc. YOU. DO. NOT. MATTER. UNLESS. YOU. ARE. SUPPORTING. THE. ADC. I cannot stress that enough.

  4. You try to be the hero: Stay with your damn team. Nobody cares that you can walk off on your own and solo 2 Rek'sais and a Kog'maw. STAY WITH YOUR DAMN TEAM. The Golden rule of this mode is, if you see less than 3 star guardians on your screen at any given moment, you are out of position as all hell and need to return to the other guardians before you get yourself killed.

Happy Hunting, fellow Star Guardians.

Edit: I don't care if you downvote. I've already earned my Ward Skin, and this entire thread was put together to help other people not make the same mistakes I made while struggling in the mode.

The Vel'kozs should take top priority over every other monster when dealing with mobs. It's a pain, but you basically need to slowly and systemically take out each one around the map until they all die. As for the bigger Vel'kozes, those take even higher priority.

For the autoscroll segments, as mean as it is, you literally have no choice but to just juke and dodge. Eventually you'll get close to the end goal, and then all you have to do is flash to it when you get close enough

Crit is good on MF

You would think, but it actually hinders more than helps her. MF DOES have an unusual build compared to the other ADs though. The optimal MF build is Cleaver, Bork, Death's Dance.

I like Giant's belt for MF I helps a lot for the health spoinges I just finish the rest of the item for the ad. My best performing build Essence Reaver > Shiv > Lord Doms > att speed boots > Bf sword. Most of the time I'm top damage 150k+ unless jinx is excellent.

I honestly can't recommend the Lord Dom. Bork is better and doesn;t have a useless armor pen passive

Then what should we be building?

Then what should we be building?

Attack Speed and onhit damage for anything that isn't MF. That means Guinsoo, Bork and Wit's end. No, I'm not kidding.
