Morde won't be played AD

Seriously, why does everyone think Morde will be AD? All his ratios are AP (+ one hybrid). He still deals magic damage...

He is going to be an AP carry as always, but with added incentive to have a support. It's a lot like taking Veigar, Xerath, Cassiopeia, Ziggs, or Vel'koz bot. AP carries are fundamentally not much different from AD carries; damage is damage, whether it comes mostly from spells or auto-attacks. If it happens to be ranged damage that you can repeat often in a teamfight, the damage-dealer is an ideal marksman.

The reason the meta evolved into having AD carries having a support rather than AP carries having a support was the tendency early-on in League for AD carries to have weaker early games than most other champions, thus needing protection from ganks more than others. The resulting duo lane went bot purely for the sake of having control over the dragon.

Nowadays, having an APC go bot with a support while an ADC goes mid can be perfectly viable, but it's just not seen much, mostly due to players not really giving thought as to WHY any certain strategy may or may not work.

People aren't saying he will be played AD exclusively. They are saying he will be played as a bot carry as in take the place of the traditional AD Carry marksman. I've seen TF ADC and Teemo APCs. Nothing new.

Well, he has two hybrid ratios; Q and E

The third hit of Q has an absurdly high AD ratio as well

My bad... But my point remains, he's still an AP burst tank. (and 260% AP is better than 300% AD imo)

Well, thing is they gave him a pretty big AS nerf, and now that his Q needs three hits for that damage, you're usually better off with something that'll just grant you a bunch of stats simultaneously, like item 3078 . I guess if you wanted, item 3115 would be a good buy on an AP Mordekaiser now. Or with a ghost and item 3116 just keep them slowed long enough you can get the hits off.

They should've focused more on tanky and AP builds. Right now he's just.. all over the place.

I hate to say it, but most people replying here don't appear to have seen "everyone" saying Morde will be played as AD. If you really want an answer to your question you might want to go to one of those people instead, rather than hoping one will come here.

That said I've seen an AD Morde get a penta... So it's not exactly the worst thing in the world if he does it strictly for team wide damage balance.
