The Nunu Changes and Misconceptions Cleared Up

  1. Nunu doesn't gain just 3% max health and 10 out of combat movement speed, that's just for eating one kind of monster. He ACTUALLY gains 3% max health and 10 ooc movement speed for EVERY different monster he has eaten in the last 80-420 seconds (based on level). This can give him a max of 48% max health increase and 160 ooc movement speed (21% max health boost and 70 ooc movement speed should be the minimum you will always have if you just clear your entire jungle and then eat at least one Scuttle).
  2. The Starving debuff timer doesn't require Nunu to eat different monsters to prevent starving, it only requires him to have Consumed a large monster or epic monster within the last 80-420 seconds, menaing you can consume the same large or epic monster to constantly refresh that monster's buff timer on Nunu (the health and MS increase timer).
  3. Consume has had it's cool down reduced by 1 second at every rank. Many people didn't read this.

Also I would like to note that Nunu is really in need of a rework right now and Riot is likely just trying to make him have at least one really enjoyable play style since his rework is NOT soon.

I don't think I support these changes because it absolutely guts Nunu in any lane because he won't be feeding on big monsters. I think Nunu needs some help, no bones about that, but utterly removing Support Nunu by making him bad in lane is just terrible.

still, right now jungle nunu has a ~55%winrate for experienced users - he really doesn´t need a buff in any way.

on the other hand however - support nunu is straight unplayable since years and this change will only make it worse. They really need to find a way to buff him as a support while not totally break him as a jungler, but they just did the opposite.

Something tells me they tried last patch with the W rework, but it didn't work out. I don't know how to make Support Nunu good without being obnoxious with perma-movement and attack speed slows and permanent attack and movement speed buffs.

some ideas:

  • allow his consume to also heal the nearest ally...shared meal both get 60% of the heal, if nunu has noone around he heals himself for 100% (jungle nunu can use this to heal laners when walking through, but it would also hurt his clearspeed in exchance, so not really a big buff to him)
  • revert the e changes - with the longer slow duration you didn´t have to be able to consistently stick to the target to take out a threat for a reasonable time. But as it is now it really hurt support nunu a lot more than jungle nunu as he won´t get tanky enough to really stick to the backline and it did weaken his already not so good trading in lane
  • maybe allow for special interactions with his w and minions, so they don´t only get the buff but evolve - helping him out during early combat in laneand allowing him some unique sidelane control later on in the game.

  • Riot really hates Nunu's Consume healing if you didn't know. They gutted it a long time ago due to Nunu's manaless sustain due to his Passive. Allowing him to share the healing with allies is probably Riot's worst nightmare.
  • This could be a possibility. The E slow change was something that I didn't see what the point of it was.
  • Eh, I don't really like Nunu being able to use W on minions anyways. I think I know where you are coming from with this idea, but it seems kind of like something Riot would try and do in a rework since they would likely just try to buff the W first before changing it's uses.

Nunu doesn't need a rework. This is perfect. This is just what we needed to make him a counterjungling terror again.
