might be a good time to give hecarim some more changes

to Q and W, as annoying as I think his E is I guess it's fine. i don't think the ult buff will make him 'strong' again, nor do I think it really addresses some of his glaring design flaws

but he tends to be volatile to balance when his Q gets tinkered with; since it's just a spammy PbAoE without any condition to it, he tends to get a little crazy whenever riot's lowered the mana cost on it. if it's too high though then he has trouble clearing the jungle and quickly drops to irrelevance.

his W has some skill expression in using it at the right time to max out your healing but overall it's a very underwhelming ability in general and its strongest use-case usually requires having coordination with your team which can be difficult in soloQ.

i'm not saying either spell needs to be rebuilt or replaced but adding some additional condition or unreliability to his Q to 'unlock' its highest damage might be just what he needs to put him in a spot where he can be strong without being overbearing, like he's been so many times between season 5 and the start of season 7.

W getting a total overhaul is best option if combined with some adjusted scaling. Since his sustain is so iffy (either very little off one champ and some minions, or a lot off an enemy team with a lot of incoming damage) just remove that and scale his HP harder. Turn the W into a medium cooldown AoE where he rears and stomps everyone around him. Might also be fun to see him get Brittle as a debuff applied by his W.

I think his Q could work a bit like old darius Q, two Aoes with higher damage in the outer where the edge of his weapon hits. this would add some skillexpresssion and free some power for either manacost buffs or a bit more reward then hitting with the edge compared to now.

As for the W, i think it is a good skill, but could use some small cd buffs at later ranks, or maybe have 50% increased healing for damage he inflicts himself(so 30% rather than 20%). But mostly i think his Q should refound some manacost if it kills a unit, this would help toplane Heca who is prettymuch dead right now quite alot, and it would also help his mana in the jungle a bit, all without makeing his all-in spaming more potent. Wouldn't hurt to increase the Q dmage vs minions a bit aswell i guess, the 34% reduced damage seems a bit out of place given that lane heca is in a rather poor state right now.

I believe Hec is one of the many old champs without much of a rework over the years. His kit shows its age.

I can agree with this, Q comes from an era of generic, spammy, PBAoE fighter Q design that hasn't aged exceptionally well, and W is a mess of gates that all make the ability less clear than it should be. Additionally, I think Hec's passive could use an update: while the idea of having your momentum translate into bonus damage is a good one and should be kept on him, the implementation is mediocre, and generally only feels significant when you're abusing some ridiculous setup like TP Homeguard or the like. Hec in general feels amazing when flanking, ganking and initiating, but his actual mid-fight pattern feels a little boring, so I think if he receives work in the future, it should be with the intent of really rewarding him for stampeding through lots of enemies at a time.

i actually like keeping the current fighting curve he has; strong initiation, weak mid-fight, and strong clean-up. i think this is unique to him and should be preserved/he should be made better at doing this

I agree, and I don't think his mid-fight power should be buffed, rather, his mid-fight gameplay needs to be made more interesting. The issue I take with his combat pattern is that he mostly just spams Q while it's off cooldown, and sometimes uses W at key moments, so there isn't all that much variance overall to his power, and he turns into a DPS hose. What I think would be much more interesting would be if Hec were actively discouraged from being stationary in fights, and were encouraged to constantly run through enemies and around them in hit-and run strikes: that way, he'd still be weaker in the middle of combat, especially if he gets locked down or tries to stay in the same place for extended periods of time, but would at least get to do some more unique gameplay by spending time running around and coming back in, rather than staying around for too long.
