"Addressing your concerns for the 2019 ranked season" = "We're ignoring the fact you dont want it"

/dev: Addressing Your Feedback on Ranked for 2019 - Nexus

Just dont change it. I have literally not seen a single person say anything positive about this. It has more flaws than the current system (which is already shitty) it's over complicated, not needed, and just all around dumb as hell.

Some points to "Address our concerns" almost make it worse such as:

"Let’s say you’re the same player and your duo hits you up. They play top and suggest you queue up for each other’s positions and trade so you can get easier games. It takes a game or two for us to see a pattern of trades, but for those games we’ll detect that you traded positions and adjust accordingly—you’ll have decreased LP gains and increased losses since your team was favored to win. After that, the link between your MMRs will tighten and you’ll get matched in Gold games regardless of the position you’re playing."

  • This shit literally doesn't even exist in this system, the new system you're making is just adding problems, and its dumb as hell.

"(How long it'll take to rank up in the new system) ... We can address this concern using several mechanics we’ve already built into Ranked. We want players to be able to climb to their peak skill in two or three positions without playing significantly more games. True fill players will have to play more games if they want to max out their rank in every position, but nowhere near five times as many"

  • This doesn't even make any sense, the grind to get an overall good rank is fun, that's where the ranked enjoyment is. We want to climb to our "peak skill" overall, not in just a couple positions. Regardless of if it wont take as much time as we think, it'll still take a lot more time.

"Imagine you’re a Gold mid main. If you decide to go play a new position like top, matchmaking will look at your MMR in mid and other positions to estimate your initial skill. That means instead of getting put into a Bronze game, you’ll likely play a Silver game."

  • So if im a Gold ADC, and i go do mid lane in normals for a month, ill go against people who are worse than me, in a role i know well? Good shit Riot.

"We’re adding a mechanic called splashing, which reinforces how every game reflects your skill while preventing abusers from ruining off-position games. It works like it sounds: At the end of each game, you’ll splash some LP to your other positions based on your normal gains and losses for the position being splashed to"

  • This is literally just a worse system than we have now. If i main ADC and i get filled to Top then we win somehow, i get LP for a role i dont play and as high as 6LP for my main role? So instead of getting 20+ LP for the win, i really only get 6LP that i care about.

"We believe positional matchmaking and ranks can give you fairer games and meaningful ways to challenge yourself. At the same time, we heard an important piece of feedback from you that we agree with: Win or lose, every game reflects your skill and needs to matter regardless of the position or champion you’re playing"

  • No one care about positional matchmaking, we want to be able to pick our roles, play them and have an overall rank. The second part of this point, is saying that you're going to keep the system we have now, but make it worse and more complicated.

As i said, i have literally not heard a single good thing about this ranked change. It over complicates shit, its unwanted and definitely not needed. I would respect this change if it made ranked like team builder, if you could NEVER get autofilled and you could only select one role at a time, then this shit makes sense. But overall there's too much going on to make this be a good change, i literally couldn't imagine a worse change for ranked. Also, what the hell is up with Riot constantly making HUGE changes that no one wants? You dont need to reinvent the game every 6 months. This game gets further and further away from the game i fell in love with every time there's a major update. People complained about the ranked system, but this is just making every possible thing worse.

Please Riot, for the love of god PLEASE listen to the community and do something smart - scrap this shit idea and let it die.

Yes it does. People can duo queue with both selecting a particular role as primary and then trade for the guy who better at that role while the other fills whatever the other one got.

Absolute opinion. And I disagree with you. Don't speak for other people in terms of 'fun' if you can avoid it.

I literally don't understand what you're trying to convey here. Are you saying normal and ranked MMR should be linked? Because they are not right now. So yes, if you practice in normals and improve at the game then go back to ranked yes, you will play people below your current skill level.

"We're adding a mechanic called splashing, which reinforces how every game reflects your skill while preventing abusers from ruining off-position games. It's an anti-abuse measure. Also, it means that if you get autofilled to an off-role and don't win you don't lose 20 lp in your main role. Assuming, of course you're getting 20 lp win/loss. Because they do adjust gains based on mmr relative to ranking.

Once again, speaking for others. See below, no point writing twice.

I prefer the upcoming system and it simply makes more sense. It honestly should have been implemented immediately once they allowed players to queue for roles instead of it being first to call and, more pragmatically, first in pick order. You could be a 'mid main' then too, but that certainly didn't mean that you wouldn't get forced into other roles. Just like autofill does. What exactly is the issue here other than 'I don't like being told up front what I'm likely going to be playing'? And you could always ask to swap in both cases. Not a guarantee but it's still on the table.

The problem is that no1 wants to play a game where they're autofilled and they won't get LP for their main role. Why should i try to play the game where I'm assigned top lane, but I'm a mid main, and idc about my top lane rank? What's stopping players from not trying to win and/or trolling if they get autofilled and that loss won't affect their main role rank (or it won't affect as much as the rank of the role you got autofilled on).

This new system will be complicated as shit, and all other things which should prevent players from exploiting the system will make it even more complicated. And as OP sid, no1 asked for this, nor it's needed.

Just doing small tweaks on current ranked system would be good enough, we DON'T NEED this.

First point, they said they’ll be punishing if you swap roles too much. I’m the current system, it places you in games cause of rank / MMR, so you can switch but the people will still be around your skill level. In the new system, it’ll put you against worse opponents, but if you switch roles, you’ll get less LP cause they matched you with worse people, and you played your main role. We don’t have that right now.

Second point, that should be everyones point of ranked. What’s the difference between ranked and normals? Ranked is about winning, playing in a competitive setting and improving while having fun. Normals are about fun. The new system gets in the way of that because it forces you to not get immediate results, let’s say you play 100 ranked games, about 60-70% of the time you get your main role, other times are off roles / auto fill, that means in about 30-40% of your games, you don’t really get that competitive setting, the same LP gain, and you don’t get to improve your actual rank.

Third point, Riot said “if you’re a gold mid laner and get filled top, you’ll play against silvers” so if you main mid, and practice an offrole in normals, you’ll be able to go into ranked and stomp people you’re better than, instead of still being at the same level as they normally are.

Fourth point, it’s an anti-abuse measure that punishes people for a system they’re changing. If i play a 50min game as an auto filled top, i don’t give a fuck about “splashed” LP, i want my full LP because i earned the win.

Fifth point, i don’t care about being auto-filled, it sucks but in ranked the incentive to win is that you get LP, your rank gets a little higher, and you’re grinding to the next rank. With this new system, getting auto filled / in an off role means you’re more or less wasting a game. As an example, today if i win 5 games, 2 were offrole, 1 was auto fill, 2 were main role, i would get 100LP. With the new system, exact same thing but i would get 40-50LP in my main role. Half the LP, for the same amount of work.

The problem isn’t about how the game will be played, it’s about how the reward is getting changed. I personally like how it is now, you should be a set rank and that’s it, because if i’m a Platinum player, i’ll be a Platinum player in every role. But with this new system, if i want to play jg for a game, the game means literally nothing to me, it becomes as important as a normal because i won’t actually progress in a meaningful way.

I have no problem with the new system currently. I'm excited to see how it plays out and am keeping an open mind

How about instead of five separate ranks, the matchmaking just gives slightly worse opponents/teammates? Having to gain rank in 5 roles is terrible.

Lauchmelder2 votes

That's what we get for (at least a good chunk of "us") begging for a removal of autofill. Instead of removing a necessity they lower the impact it has on your main role.

And guess what: People still complain....

Pffft, thinking Riot cares what anyone below D1/Masters/Challenger thinks. It's all about that LCS baby. Riot doesn't care at all what's good for the majority of the game (IE 99.99% of the players) as long as they keep making an absurd amount of money off the Esports side of this game.

Right now, you can autofill into roles you dont know how to play and the game assumes you are in your best role. People then beg to switch or dodge.

It works because people will never be better than what the system thinks they are.

New System, though, I queu up for my first time jungle game, switch with my midlaner, then you have a diamond midlaner in a gold game gg

They try to change a car tire by hitting tire with a hammer. Oh they dress it up with pretty words. Just like how politicians say things will be better, throw some questionable data and arguments and the stupid people vote. Shiki Ryougi is the prime example of a person objecting to common sense. The OP explains things completely logically, points out the fact that a player with a higher rank can get to play against easy opponents( smurfing is already a problem with the " Climb to whatever series"). Now a Diamond player will probably play high gold-low plat players on his off role( because he didn't give a damn about it or the system hasn't determined his rank). He is still a Diamond with more game knowledge and macro-good luck to the enemy team. The OP is speaking for a majority of the community and because some people( Mr Shiki Ryougi) make arguments like: "I won't bother explaining your point, you make no sense" Riot will think that there is positive feedback and go through with this. Rememeber how they said that the removal of IP will make gains easier, how the system will give you cheeper champs. Well when blue essence was a separate thing you could get a level 7 mastery on a champ for 500 BE. meanwhile you bought other champs with your IP. Now? 2850 BE for level 7 mastery or a shard of the champion( which you probably won't have as they give you shards for cheap champs). Before if you wanted to buy 2 champs but got a shard for one of them you could buy the other with IP and disenchant stuff till you got enough Be for the first. And once you did(the Be costs weren't that high abck then) you got a bonus champ. I am reminding you of the BE thing because I knew it was gonna be crap but back then, as now, people believed Riot, people were stupid and didn't realise that Ip gains were good and that the Be and OE system was just a bonus. Who did Riot do it for? For the streamers who had bought everything thanks to Rp or donations and had Ip to spare. Why? Because they never used IP. The pros- everything is unlocked for them and even if it isn't they have sponsors so they don't even have to spend their prize money. And the actual new players( not that there are many). Back when I started League everyone was talking about it and my friends invited me to play. Now not only have most of us stopped( I personally play when I have nothing else to do and I do it on small servers, just to have fun), not only that, the kids don't talk about League so much. There are no new players. Before you ask someone if you could invite him/her in LoL- the answer was yes. I got 20 people to join and actually play when Rus server was released. Now I don't even dare to ask. Maybe the backlash from this will hit Riot hard. It will hit Riot hard. Either they lose 50 percent of their players( we won't know since they stopped publishing Data). that's logical since the playerbase has shrunk and it only eer peaks around some event for 2-3 days at which point Riot announces; " We had 100 million active players". That was in season 6 but they haven't made big claims like that since then and NA has shrunk. EUW a bit too. The smaller servers are practically dead( I played with 3 players 6 games in a row in Russia). The fun part was that we weren't premade or something, but there were no active players to match us with. i truly hope that Riot survives, wises up, fires 90 percent of the devs and caster jackaes, hires actually talented and smart people, who don't just throw ideas to be original and maybe we will get the game we loved back. Just a final few things to mention to all those morons defending Riot( some of them among us in this disscussion). You are extremely easy to manipulate and attack anyone, who dares speak some common sense against your lord and master the dark Lord of the (insert any insult here) Rito. This was demonstated by a few people just in this disccusion who tried to attack the OP's great points with artificial arguments. I will ask you this- Why have worlds been watched by less people? The number was growing until season 6? Why are people quiting( often loudly and with bitterness)? Why has Riot stopped informing us of the players playing? Why are the queue times so long that they require autofill? Surely if the game was as large as they claim( it isn't) there would be enought players in every server even those with 2 percent of the playerbase( after all 2 percent of 100 million is 2 million). Surely there would be enough combinations so that 2 players never meet each other in a game. Yet in Russia( a small server true) i player with not 1 but 2 other people 6 consecutive games, just because there wasn't anyone else playing. This means that the server doesns't have 2 million people but rather 2000. I doubt the people who kiss Rito's a will be able to read all this( anything more than 5 sentences is deadly for them) but if someone does, I hope they see the wisdom in this block of text. It was long but I felt that I should defend the OP in nothing less than an essay, because what this person has noticed is true and the game will be ruined.
