A small change that could make a huge impact on balance

I was looking a youtube video by TheValkrin who was saying we might need more then 3 ban picks in ranked. And I wondered if the wouldn't be a batter approach to this.

What if each time a champion win a match he would lose 0.01¹ gp/5 from his base stats and likewise would gain 0.01 gp/5 when he lose a game. It wouldn't make a noticeable difference for anyone but on the course of thousands of games weaker champions with low win rate would end up with a slight advantage in gold. Which would increase until inevitably their win rate evens out at 50%.

I don't think it would be noticeable for anyone. just gives a few hundreds extra gold to a bad champion after 20 minutes and he will become much more competitive without breaking anything in the game.

Riot could of course make any change possible to avoid such gold discrepancy between champions. But it would quickly solve any problem of OP or UP champions. Even if they benefit from a brand new unpredictable change to an item. They would quickly return to 50% win rate no matter how hard you try to abuse of it.

Kha'Zix, Lee Sin, Twitch and Kassadin all have sub-50% win rates.

Wouldn't this game be so much more fun if they had even more gold?

Win Rate is a useless statistic without context. Its primary purpose is to justify opinions you already hold and trick people on the internet.

So... You want Lee Sin to be a lot stronger? Because that's what would happen if this change got implemented. Look at all the whining currently surrounding him. Also, in highly competitive games, a single item purchased earlier because of a slight advantage is enough to turn the tide in your favor heavily. I think this is a really terrible change that won't solve any issues.

Riot (I forget exactly who) has addressed this specific idea in the past. Champion strength has a lot to do with players' perception. A LOT. It's no secret that there are champions who ramp up significantly in popularity because something happens that makes people think that champion is good. The invisibility of the teensy changes is what would prevent this from ever balancing out everyone to 50%. Player perceptions would remain unchanged until some arbitrary breaking point was hit, at which point they're immediately considered FotM or garbage tier. There's no numeric offset that you could just apply to an OP or UP champion to bring them to the middle.

It would also feel really bad to lose your lane or lose the game and feel that it was caused by trending microchanges that you weren't able to—and shouldn't have to—follow on a daily basis.

No one I know keep tracks of the exact gold of his opponent. You wouldn't feel "bad" because your opponent have 50 more gold at the 10 minute mark.

There would be no change linked to the FotM. A champion could be very popular and see no change in his GP10 unless all those people collectively manage to win more then 50% of the game.

It would be a small effect, I get that. But what I'm saying is that if the effect is large enough to actually raise that champion's win rate, it's large enough for you to feel like it mattered.

Yeah cause we all want talon and other champs buffed just cause bronzies are bad at them

Wouldn't be hard to adjust that based on tier if necessary. But your premise is wrong since talon don't even have a significant win rate between bronze and platinum. he was about 52% before and 50% after the last rework.
