why isnt there an item, that grants ctitical strike chance without attack speed attached?

Critmaster Garen··2 votes·920 views

i mean except for i.e.

but im talking about something like stattic shiv or phantom dancers, with a higher crit chance and some utility, instead of attack speed.

there are a lot of items, that are either focused around attack speed, or some that grant attack speed and crit at the same time. but only i.e. really grants crit without as attached.

is there a specific reason?

item 3142 technically fits the bill, but it's a little lackluster late game

As of right now, the most slot-efficient AD + Crit item is item 3031. People will whine about the unique passive not stacking but if you have the gold to fit five infinity edges in your build, you'll be two-shotting squishies (one shot if you're draven or zed)

But Youmu's still has attack speed on the active.

There used to be Executioners Calling. But if you think about it Crit Chance and Attack Speed go very well together(More attacks per second and More Crits per Minute), Unless its a Damage amplification item like IE which increases your max single hit damage potential. item 3185 On the other maps is more like draven's old passive

...Crits apply on autoattacks. More autoattacks = more crits. What, do you want some sort of AP/Crit item?

AS/Crit Velkoz tho

Just because he has one of the best crit animations in the game doesn't mean you're supposed to build him crit. ... *Cries a little inside

nothing beats critnivia loopings though.

Still hoping they make Spellblade, at least on Lichbane, use the crit animation. Still won't do anything for most mages, but it will let us see some of the rare critical strike animations more often.

Most likely.

Either way, the last two are finished items.

Could be that Crit is too weak on its own if you have a slow attack speed and don't give yourself lots of chances to crit. Idk just a guess.

Critmaster Garen1 votes

while i really like ghostblade and dont complain about the as on the active, well. its still not completely detached crit chance from attack speed.

im wondering why there is no item like lets say stattic shiv, that grants 40% critical strike chance, some movement speed, some passive. instead of a mixed combination of as and crit.

didnt executioners calling have like 40% attack speed though, with 3 automatic crits when you hit the active? and while the active was on cooldown, you lost the attack speed.

you're thinking Sword of the Divine

oh right. executioners calling was the one horrible at countering sustain. if permanent grievous wounds were so bad, then i never understood why they didnt give it the same passive as morellos and only have it apply on physical damage dealing spells instead of both, spells and auto attacks.

Crit without attack speed is pretty useless. That is pretty much the reason.

if there was an item that gave 60% crit chance and 6% movement speed, and shivs passive. would it still be useless?

i mean i fully understand, that most champions want to get a mix of both. but there are pure attack speed items. and pure attack speed isnt much more useful than pure crit for most champions. yet those items exist.

You can also think of it this way:

Do you want to have 1 AA/second that hits for 250 dmg with a 30% chance to crit for 550 dmg or 2 AA/second that hit for 500 dmg with 0 chance to crit?

Delioth1 votes

... The only pure AS item is Runaan's Hurricane.... and that's because of its unique passive- both pieces fit together for the 'ALL OF THE ATTACKS' theme.

At this point?

Probably because Yasuo would build it and instantly hit 100% crit.

i want this on summoners rift so badly. i mean not for the stats, but the active and passive. but the stat combination would probably be nice to have aswell.

Because the niche isn't there.

If you want crits, but not attack speed, you're the only caster in the game who can crit with his abilities, but doesn't like attack speed. Garen

well, there are some more champs who do have crit scaling abilities.

but its also a matter of having more freedom in combining your items. if there were items that would grant high crit % without much else, you could probably get items like hurricane or zephyr more easy into your build.

something like item 3185 item 3172 wouldnt be a bad item combination.

FantasySniper1 votes

There are other champs who scale their abilities with crit. But they also want attack speed. Yes, even Yasuo.

A high crit item + a high AS item is pointless when you could get both of those in one: Anything building out of Zeal.

Like I said, the niche just isn't there.

Why the F*ck are you complaining that all of them come with extra attack speed? in the case of ADC its all damage, and the ability to do it as fast as possible.

Miku Lv991 votes

Because the ones they had before sucked so much that no one ever made them except for maybe the like the one champion that they were useful on.

well. to be fair, they sucked for different reasons.

atmas was nerfed to the ground because of its passive and the midgame strength of atmorgs or atmallet in season 2. the repeated health nerfs to warmorgs didnt help either.

executioners calling had to suck, because having permanent heal debuffs on your auto attacks would have deleted certain champs from the game.

in neither case they sucked because they were crit focused items, but because they got nerfed for their passives.

NoMonku1 votes

Crit is really only proc with auto attacks outside of a few abilities. MissFortune and Gangplank are the only champions I can think of that have abilities that can proc with a Crit. Anyways, since you proc crits with how much you attack, it being combined with AS makes sense, since being able to hit more results in more chances to crit.
