This is a comprehensive jungle guide for season 6 covering everything you must know to be on even footing with the veteran junglers out there.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDPnRnwZVY0

Most of the topics covered below include examples of in game footage.

Beginner level junglers for no runes, no masteries or simply no experience in the jungle. Itemization guide covering the different situations for which you'd want different items. Essential masteries for ganking, counter jungling and sustain. The best runes to use for jungling. The most common jungling paths you're probably using right now and you can expect to run into. The most common counter jungling path that is destroying junglers right now The jungling paths that will help you get around counter jungling The best path for fast farming poorly ganking sated devourer junglers

I'm aware a 15 minute video might be a bit long for some folks so I've put a recap in at 13:06 you can skip to if you just want a quick summary.

I want to comment about the runes. I think runes need to be tied to individual junglers very carefully, and should not have any objective rules besides the obvious armor seals.

For example, Nidalee works best with AD marks, armor seals, AP quints, and AP glyphs. Without these particular runes, you won't be optimally effective. Watching the video you wouldn't know this though and instead get MR glyphs and hybrid penetration marks.

And for Vi, CDR glyphs that scale, attack speed quints, AD marks, and armor seals is the best. This gives 5% CDR per 6 levels, allowing you to use your ult much more effectively. Combined with 20% CDR from any one item (iceborn gauntlet, frozen heart etc) you reach 35% CDR with a single item purchase at level 18. And with blue buff, you hit 40% at level 12 and the 20% item. Magic resist runes won't help you that much, trust me!

Elise is another that isn't clear from the video. Attack speed marks, armor seals, and AP quints/glyphs are the best with her. CDR doesn't impact her playstyle that much so the extra AP from glyphs (about 11) is much more beneficial. If you mastered Elise, you know that you can take effectively zero damage from the jungle creep, realizing that the armor seals are not absolute mandatory. However, there really aren't viable alternatives as the seals don't offer anything significant except armor and scaling health. The scaling health seals could act as another Strength of the Ages or in place of Strength of the Ages if you want to run Stormraider's Surge or Thunderlord's Decree on her.

So basically just consider the champion more than anything when you are building runes for jungling. What you could be running may only be 70% optimal.

i'm aware people that know the limits of their champions can push those limits on the runes (i myself do not use armor seals or mr glyphs on yi these days) but if they are not familiar with the limits of their champion then it's best to use this as a general guide 70% optimal is still better than having no idea what to use and building suboptimally
